Box “value” is a whole other part of figure collecting autism in itself, but it’s funnier with Funkos. Every time I see massive walls of boxed ones, I think about how a friend’s had two effectively fall apart once they’re taken out of those boxes. Those boxes might as well be the difference between life and death for a Funko.

I don't know how long your friend had them in the boxes, but the plastic do actually break down. Because it cannot "breathe", haven't read other than the plastic becoming sticky. So it might be an other unrelated problem.

Schrödinger's Funko is a good name though.

I’m definitely aware of plastic breaking down with time (plastic “sweating” and getting sticky is a huge issue with older plastic figurines in general), just not “this entire figure will die on your table if you let it breathe” levels of decay. As far as I’m aware said friend got them new, but I have no idea how long they may have been sitting boxed, and regardless I don’t think they’re supposed to fall apart.

For those of you fortunate enough not to be informed on the subject, Ash Parrish is the worst writer at Kotaku (stiff competition, I know). Discussion about an article she wrote on A&N led me to go through some of her work, and I found this article proving that it's not just white soymales who can consoom 'till they drop. If you're looking for some bonus content, some people in the comments call her out for her race-baiting, and she actually goes down there and responds herself.

Guiness as a brand is just a joke at this point, but the specificity of this makes the award even sillier. She doesn't own the most games, games consoles, or even handhelds, but specifically LCD games, some of the least fondly remembered out of any game systems because they were made as cheap as possible and had the most rudimentary hardware. I doubt Guiness is even the one who made this a race thing, since they give hyper specific accolades like this to anybody. Kotaku is somehow even dumber than they are.

Edit: Skipping around their clip it seems like they definitely didn't or it's at least not an in your face line. It's not even in the title of that video. And Kotaku caring about Guiness at this point after the fiasco with speedrunning metrics making their game related awards have a pretty low reputation is either ignorance or just malice against the evil gamer responsible for the gamergatelocaust. Their need to defend the shitty article adds to this possibility.
