That sounds more entertaining than the original idea (then again, so does being hit over the head with a large mallet). Cool stuff!

It's amazing how much you can do when you give even a little bit of a shit.
Wow, this thing is a disaster and I can't wait to see the inevitable trainwreck that will occur.
Because I like wasting my time- I decided to write character descriptions that weren't just flimsy card-board SJW puppets.
-Shona-
Shona is a good-natured and friendly individual who has a charming wit about her. She is currently trying to pursue her lifelong dream of being a stand-up comedian. Her biggest hurdle she faces, though, is her sensitive nature. Having grown up being bullied in school for her status as trans, she has developed a rather fragile ego. Despite this, she wants to succeed at her dream of being a stand-up comedian more then anything else- which will mean learning how to grow a thicker skin.
Some of her likes include science-fiction/fantasy and riffing on bad horror movies.
-Cameron-
Cameron, at first glance, appears to be a loner. Having suffered from severe social anxiety, he currently finds it easier to withdraw from others and spend most of his life online. He often likes to blend into the background and let life pass him by. Those who have actually been able to get close to Cameron would describe him as a kindly, if somewhat awkward/dorky individual. He’s joked about creating an OS that would fall in love with him, but has never actually done that because he realizes how damn stupid it really is. He does have a relationship with a girl online, though. They never met in real life, though, and the thought of it terrifies him.
Some of his likes include writing poetry and World of Warcraft.
-Huey-
Huey was the middle child from a large family and as such he was always competing with his siblings to get attention. As a result he adopted a rebellious, misanthropic attitude that he carries to this day. His “badass troublemaker” persona has become so much a part of his identity that he doesn’t really know how to conduct himself any other way. His reputation as a “psychopath” has gotten him pretty far (he has everyone’s fearful respect, he get’s all the ladies who want a “bad boy”, etc.), but he deep down knows it’s only a matter of time before his rebelliousness will get him into trouble.
Some of his likes include paintball and clubbing.
-Betsy-
Betsy is a sheltered rich girl who is generally well-intentioned, but not that well-furnished in the brains department. Feeling a sense of guilt over being a “spoiled rich kid” she decided that she would try to adopt the life of “the common man” when she moved out of her parent’s house. While she wants to “earn her way” in the world, she has quickly come to realize how hard it is that would actually be. Due the amount of stress her lifestyle-shift has brought her, she was unfortunately become addicted to prescription drugs. Her life goal is to become a fashion designer.
Some her likes include celebrity gossip and the latest viral cute cat video.
-Taylor-
Taylor works at the same video game store that Cameron works at. She’s a laid-back, sarcastic individual who can come across as unintentionally bitchy. She doesn’t mean to be insulting, she just has a very caustic sense of humor. Feels very strongly about animal welfare.
-Mr. Jiminez-
Mr. Jiminez is their landlord. He comes across as harsh when it comes to paying rent on time. In all reality, he has a large family to take care of and is working hard to not only keep is family afloat, but to also save up enough money to send his kids to college. He also likes his cigars a bit too much.
-Quillam-
Quillam is an other-worldly entity that has come to observe the mortal realm. He has taken particular interest in our four main protagonists as he has determined that they will be perfect vessels for when the Elder Gods will arise again and overtake the Earth.
That sounds more entertaining than the original idea (then again, so does being hit over the head with a large mallet). Cool stuff!![]()
I had a similar discussion with a buddy of mine when I first found out about the atrocity that was this idea. It was mostly us BSing about the sheer lack of quality and effort put into the project (Buddy is knowledgeable about flash animation tricks and is an audiophile and perfectionist to boot, while I tend towards being a second writer/idea man and v/a for our stuff), and we collectively came to the following ideas for a wildly different variation for the characters:
-Shona-
Shona is generally a creative and dynamic person who enjoys to play video games and write in her spare time. Her dream is to eventually write a best selling fantasy novel series, and throughout the series you see her complete more and more of it, as well as see her struggle on certain elements on the story. Dysphoric about her gender, you see changes throughout each season as she becomes closer to finally getting reassignment surgery and finishing the transition. This dysphoria can often take a toll on her and she can be hurt by overt callousness since she takes these remarks to heart. She ultimately starts to become more and more confident about her identity as the series progresses, before she finally overcomes what others say and begins being fine with herself. Other hobbies she has includes a group D&D session she DMs, as well as playing MMOs of all types. She favors RPGs and Fantasy genre games.
-Cameron-
Cameron is sort of at the crux between being a dudebro and a nerd. He enjoys hanging outside and is a sports fan, with Basketball and Field hockey being his two favorite activities. But on the other hand, he is a fan of science fiction and other nerdy pursuits, and is an avowed Trekkie (Next Generation or bust). He doesn't seem like it at first, but he's a certified genius, especially in his chosen field of Programming and other fields involving Mathematics, like Engineering. He originally joked that he picked up elements of both so he could build a robot waifu, but he can't keep a straight face when he tries to say that seriously and busts out laughing. In reality, his goal is to eventually design his own video games either as his own software company or under an established house. Despite his easy going nature, he tends to not be a fan of crowds due to bad experiences with them when he was a kid, and often retires to his room to relax. He occasionally joins in on Shona's games, often being the awesome type of That Guy who makes the rest of the table have fun, but mangles the plot that Shona orchestrated. He likes FPS games and really loves Pilot simulations.
-Huey-
Huey is a fairly unassuming and calm sort of guy who tends to stay his distance away from others. He tends to adopt people as friends sort of like how some cats adopt an owner, but tends to like to be left to his own devices. He gets along fairly well with his roomies in spite of this, finding their company to be relatively enjoyable. Though he tends to become annoyed and twitchy should they mess up the house, as he unfortunately has OCD. He's a comic book fan, and swears up and down that Dark Horse kicks the teeth out of DC and Marvel nowadays. He's a regular at Shona's sessions, although as the relative newbie to the group, he's gotten under other player's skins for regularly asking how things like to hit rolls work or how Dice Challenge factors into a roll. He like FPS games as well, and also finds strategy games to be fairly fun. (SPOILER: He actually is a sociopath. This comes into play later on for the series.)
-Betsy-
Betsy is the product of two immigrants who came to the US to escape poverty and found a business. She also was raised in a rather puritanical and sheltered home, a product of the culture her parents lived in. Because of this, she tends to be very withdrawn and quiet, and defers to others. She struggles to find an identity outside of her parent's values, since the society of a metropolitan city comes off as somewhat too decadent for her upbringing's taste. Things especially get awkward since her parents are the type of people who frown on the LGBT community due to religious reasons, a trait that Betsy holds as well to some degree. Her struggle is much like Shona's to find her own identity and to find her own voice. She met the others when they were looking for another roomie, and she agreed to join, being relatively lonely at the time. Despite her initial fears that Shona's tabletop game might be unholy, especially considering what she thinks Shona is like, she found that the game was somewhat fun to play, though she tends to play lawful stupid typically. She generally only occasionally games, and it's usually casual games, though she has been coerced by the rest of the group to join in on Multiplayer games.
(Note: My buddy and I actually went with South Asian for Betsy rather than Chinese-American for novelty sake, though we didn't come up with a new name yet. She and Huey are the most different characters because we wanted to actually play with other ideas involving both Sociopathy and being the product of Immigration and conservative parents. We also changed Cameron because HOLY SHIT WHY.)

I think Priti would be a good name for Indian Betsy. That way you could have something about being mocked for her name.
Honestly, your version of Cameron and Shona sound like two people I would totally want to hang out with.
That sounds awesome, although like people have said, it's not hard to be better than the original. I do like that you included Huey being a sociopath, because something, something powerlevel, and it's so hard to find character with personality disorders that aren't evil or played for laughs.
Why not both?I thought folks here were going to parody the show, not improve it.
Certainly not a difficult task, but still...
Why not both?
Goldstein may possibly be even worse at Twitter PR than Dobson.

This'll be good![]()
Why do I get the sneaking suspicion that she's just going to piss all over Maddie Blaustien's accomplishments and go on about how they aren't "good enough"?
