Funnily enough that's pretty much the majority of the gay men population in Bongland is like at the moment. I rarely ever encounter a gay guy who is machismo.

I'm putting my money on them thinking that's how being gay is? Either that or they have feminization/femboy/sissification fetishes. I remember back in school when it came to PSHE (Psychological and Sexual Health Educations for those of you who aren't Bongers) we were never shown examples of women being abusers and the men were always depicted as incredibly masculine sooo maybe that has something to do with it as well.

It's learned/adopted behavior. I can't source this so treat this as if it's me talking out my ass but I remember reading about how when gay men are in surgery and they talk while drugged out they don't have the lisp and shit, suggesting it's not natural behavior.

Avoiding PLing too much but I know a couple of gay men who were in far more conservative families who went from being fairly reserved and normal even in private spaces where they were accepted to full blown LITHP BIEEEETCH. I've come to view it as the homosexual equivalent of compensating, sometimes they do it simply to 'be out and proud' or simply because they just assume that hollywood was right about how a gay man should act.

Sadly its very obnoxious since its frequently joined by a sharp spike of acting petty and catty for no good reason, especially if they know you're otherwise accepting or in the LGB communities yourself.

This is quite common and its one of those little telltale things that will quickly reveal if someone has ever been in a gay relationship or space. Men who joke 'Guys should just go gay to avoid <womanly bullshit example>' have no experience in dealing with gay men who are feeling safe around you. Some of them will hit that stereotype and keep rolling at full speed to the point you're baffled they function.
