Hydreigon's cry would be so much cooler if they just used the last part of it. The first two parts make it sound like its coughing. Also, it's one of the few Pokemon that actually benefited from Gen 6's cry changes.

Relevant post that got recommended to me and did anyone else here know about this? First it was the Unown and Yamask theory, now this.

I saw that video before. He had me at first pretty cool thoery. But then the video went off into the deep end when he starts to talk about the fucking foot prints looking like what the pilots would see after they dropped the bombs, and that regi rock is meant to be the survivors.

I lost interest in "Pokemon", but I'm not like the crowd that goes "If Game Freak/Nintendo fucks up the Hoenn Region Remake, I'm DONE!!!"...am I wrong for this? :(
Nah, you're good.

For me, I'll never touch mainline Pokémon again until it's off the Switch/big-screen console. Snap 2 looks great, and I got my fill of Rescue Team DX, but with SWSH, meh... Here's to hoping on those Sinnoh remakes, but meh.

I don't mind the full cry, maybe it's my turbo autism but I can imagine the first 2 sounds as the smaller heads and the actual big roar being the main one.
Not like you hear it too clearly when you fight Ghetsis to really pick it apart though, if I ever actually raised a Deino all the way up and heard its evos cry more often i might be more nitpicky with it.

Nah, I've used the Deino line before and that was the impression I got from it's cry as well.

Did You Know Gaming got their hands on the official Japan-only PokéDex encyclopedia and got Nob Ogasawara to translate it. There's some real cool lore that existed in the beginning but has since been dropped over time or never made its way into localizations.

Considering many of the pokedex entries back then and even now contain highly dubious information under the barest of scrutiny, it's still better than going to bulbapedo.

If anyone can suggest a website that isn't run by kid diddlers, that'd be appreciated. Until then, serebii still looks adequate.

Oh come on, they're a bunch of kid diddlers too? Is there a handy highlight or link in this thread somewhere about that, that's news to me.

I've been replaying Omega Ruby this week and I don't really know if I like Hoenn or not.

I have fond memories of Emerald and I think Hoenn has a great Region Dex and selection of Pokemon but as an region it just kinda feels off to me.

I don't know if it's just me but the pacing feels a little off currently on the road to Fortree city and it feels like the game has flown by, there's really not a whole lot between the first three gyms and even the gap between Wattson and Flannery smells kinda small and than Norman's pretty much instsntly after Flannery unless you wanna explore the dessert. It just kinda feels like the early part of the game doesn't have a whole lot of breathing room between the gyms especially compared to something like Kanto which is the last region I played.

I couldn't but notice that the start rehashes alot from kanto and johto, Petalburg is bargain bin Virdian city and forest, Roxanne is a Female Brock but with a walking nose instead of a cool looking rock snake, Dewford is Cianwood with a tiny ass cave added on, Slateport is Olivine with a contest hall instead of a gym.

And also water routes are typically my least favourite parts of Pokemon games so I kind of agree with IGN on the whole "too much water" sentiment

Regigigas has a pretty good cry.

Though his anime noises make it for me, and are one of my main reasons for loving Gigas.

I've been playing Emerald myself, and I have some similar opinions. As a game it's pretty good, I mean they added abilities and natures, so that's a big improvement. It's the first game that made such a big deal about the legendaries, even more than Johto, but once you go to Rayquaza and solve the Armageddon problem... that's it, problem's solved, evil teams are defeated for good. It's really anticlimactic. Same with the gym challenge itself, aside from Norman, none of the gym leaders feel like they have any real personality or purpose, and you just kind of beat them and move on.

Sinnoh and Unova fix those problems a good bit. The legendaries matter, the evil team's feel threatening and competent, and at least some of the gym leaders feel like they're doing other things besides just sitting in their gym all day.

Hoenn looks/sounds really good on paper, but in execution it was really bad. Not so much the layout but how gamefreak managed how it worked.

Route fatigue is the biggest problem for Hoenn. For a series that at the time had over 300+ pokemon they thought it was a good idea to have wingull EVERYWHERE. Its almost has the same problem gen 2 had but instead of having wild lvl 20 pokemon around the 7th gym they instead have wingull on almost every route all the way up to the elite 4.
