It can't be worse than 3D, what a shit tier way to end the story with the twist that people had been expecting for almost a decade. Most of the Saw movies after 4 were not very good and the twists, which the series was known for became really stupid post 4. Also the use of CG when Saw was one of the few horror series still doing impressive practical shit.

Jigsaw was decent at least
The main appeal of Saw after Jiggy died was partially seeing the Hoffmanator wreck everyone's shit, so hopefully the new version can capture the fun in the villainy. If at nothing else, it needs the absurd scene transitions

Dear god. It's even worse than I thought it could be.
-Jigsaw replacements voice is like a tranny Microsoft Sam. Hoffman and Amanda both sounded threatening, this sounds like something from Arby N' The Chief
-Trap is utterly retarded and comical. Seriously, why put razor wire around his hands when the whole point is about his tongue?
-Editing looks like a fan film trying to ape Saws editing style
If you're gonna make a story about a black cop dealing with a Jigsaw impersonator why the fuck do you not have it star some kind of descendant of Detective Tapp from the first movie?

Not a fan of the voice either

Not a fan of the voice either
Don't know why they got Chris Rock for this shit, should have gotten either Darren Lynn-Bouseman or Leigh Whannel back since both were instrumental in the success of the franchise. Both probably have ideas for a reboot since they've both been away from the series for like a decade.

I said it before and I'll say it again: give Hellraiser to Doug Stanhope.

Can you believe this was supposed to be out two weeks before the riots last year?

I actually liked the saw series even the lesser entries....funny story my first saw movie was saw IV before i....saw any of the others. For some reason it was what they let us watch on the bus to our junior trip to some summer camp for a weekend before the regular kids got to use it.

anyway i fell in love with the saw series then and there...wanted to see jigsaw when it was in theaters but unfortunately couldn't cause i wasn't gainfully employed at the time and couldn't spare the money.

but this?...this just reeks of being tainted with current year. It's proof saw should have died a peaceful death at the end of the 2010's.

The trap:
The killer tied Boswick's hands so he would be misled into thinking his hands would free him. The killer played him like a fiddle with that misleading barbed wire on his hand. The video told him only his weight would do it (twice!), yet the guy still thought freeing his hands would be needed. Pure distraction.
In another bit of crafty writing:
"You have taken the witness stand" -> He must step off of his stand to live.

The voice:
It's TTS. It's intentonal to misled people who the killer is and not immediately direct the in-universe cops who it is. HEAVY SPOILERS: Despite the somewhat feminine intonation, its not a woman.

I just looked it up and the budget for this is $40 million.
The fuck?
The main reason why this franchise was so successful is that the movies were cheap to make.
The budgets were $1-11 million, only The Final Chapter was $20 million but that was supposed to be the grand finale so they wanted to go out with a bang.
The highest grossing Saw movie (Saw III) made $167 million worldwide and that was when the franchise was really popular, Spiral will make less than that.
That means that this will be the last one before the inevitable remake in 2035.
Let's hope this one is at least fun.

Bousman is directing.
