Sure. Thing is, the character on the right as it's written doesn't exist in any of those languages. Japanese doesn't use 上 as a 冠 at all and I've searched but can't find evidence of any other languages doing so. The point is moot as the creators smooshed 2 kanji together due to stylistic/space constraints so I guess it's canon but it's still gibberish to anyone trying to read it.
the anime is set in taisho era, so like a hundred years ago. It’s possible it’s an old no longer used kanji. Or maybe it’s made up, or smooshed to fit in the eyes.
my Japanese isn’t good enough and my husband is working so can’t ask.

Either way I think it’s an ugly tattoo with hard black over her red one and it’s of the most douche character in the series. Many of the demons have some redeeming factor. He’s just a psychopath
Edit: asked my husband. The kanji is fine.

Did he say what that character meant or how it's meant to be pronounced?
Genuine question because that must be the only kanji with a 上 kanmuri in existence. The Japanese language was unified/standardized in the Meiji period, prior to Taisho and I'm sceptical but open-minded about kanji having been abandoned in any meaningful amount since Taisho.

He’s Japanese. It’s written the correct way he says.
I’ll update when he is done work with the pronunciation. It’s a long work day so I don’t want to bug him too much.
Edit:
jyougen no ni

there no “no” in the kanji but that’s how it’s said.

the ni

I also think you are mistaken. It doesn’t look based on 上 it looks based on 戈

上弦 is 2 distinct characters. *Both* of those characters need to be the same size as the other kanji (弐). When 2 or more kanji are combined into a single compound kanji, they must of course be shrunk to fit and are often also altered somewhat.
The 上 has become the 冠 (the radical that comprises the top part of a compound character) of the right character by virtue of being half it's normal size, relevant to the弐.
弦 becomes the 脚, or bottom radical and together they form one character equivalent in size to the 弐.
It's still recognisable as 上弦 but it's still "grammatically" wrong, although I don't think Moo is to blame as it was taken from the anime.
Edit: I understand why the anime artists did this, but it makes the tattoo to look like those 2 characters are one, nonexistent kanji.

I was referring only to the right kanji when speaking about the上, The 大字 (弐) on the left is based on the 弋 radical. While 戈 looks like it is too, it's a separate radical in it's own right.

Meh I don’t know japanese radicals. Husband is a native speaker and doesn’t know radicals either. But my husband can read it. It isn’t too bad. For what it is. The tattoo I mean.

I’d say it’s more important to focus that she is simping and permanently marked her body with a psychopathic douchebag cult leader who literally eats young women specifically.
That’s pretty fucked up. He’s, in my opinion, the least likable character in the series. Zero redeeming quality.

I should say I divert to my husband for all translations. I only speak “grocery store” japanese

She seems to have a never-ending need to be seen as cool and not like the other girls. She'll just keep doing dumber and dumber shit because she relies on others for validation. As corny as it sounds she's never going to be happy unless that comes from herself.
Years from now, when she doesn't give a shit about this anime, she'll feel real dumb about that tattoo.

I want to give her the benefit of the doubt that she actually likes it. Which is being pretty generous. I really liked it. But douma fan no I don’t get. Like she just trying to be edgy like a teenager.

money would have been better spent touching up her faded red tat. Full metal alchemist I think.

Jesus Christ Momo start getting tattoos with black lines.

This pic is already becoming a meme.

In all seriousness... she is not ageing well.

Alright, fuck this. I'm actually pissed. I distinctly recall praising her photoshop person, maybe they got dropped or something because what the FUCK is this image? Why is she so jaundiced? Is that just how her face looks now? Is it makeup? Her face has the same texture as one of those Baby Alive toys, is she going for the lifeless look of an actual sex doll?
The freshest looking thing in this picture is the ink of her new tattoo. Using high-leg bottoms only makes you look more shapely when your midsection isn't folding over them.
Man, talk about the self-respect factor in doing porn all you want, but at the end of the day, having pictures that look like this of yourself on the internet is worse than some dude brutalizing the udders.
Disheartening.
