From tonight's stream:
"If this is gonna be how it's gonna be forever, then this is not good. This is a bad sign, okay... please, if you watch playthroughs like this, I need your support now. Like, now is the time, to-to help me out if you can because I might have to - I don't want to leave Twitch and stop doing this the way I'm doing it. I don't want to see significant changes, right? Imagine if things get worse now because I have to fucking leave Twitch, I don't want that."
A few things here.
1. If it's a 'bad sign', how is moving to YT going to fix this? He'll be asking for the same amount of money, does he imagine that will be an untapped audience? And this was said as a plea to his YT audience to contribute - why do they even care if he is not on Twitch?
2. Now is the time? Hasn't it always been 'the time'? And if they help him hit the $200 now, won't they just have to... keep doing that later? He said this is what he needs to keep going, unless he changes something about his cost of living, he is not asking for temporary support like this is an emergency. This is supposed to be his baseline cost of living.
3. I thought variety is the spice of life and Phil is great at adapting, and now he is openly admitting that he is afraid of having to make changes that, it is implied, would somehow net him the money that he is not getting on Twitch?
These begs are even more bizarre word-salad than what we're used to. Threatening to leave Twitch is making less sense as we move away from the banning because I'm not sure how flipping platforms will solve his problems, but if he believes it will... I'm not sure what's stopping him from flipping platforms. He has not improved the Patreon perks, nor got BTTV working, nor figured out NightBot polls and it's been a week. People are going to lose interest in staying on Twitch anyway, the longer he waits on restoring some things. Is he just milking his Twitch whales until the money runs out and then trying to cash in at YT with some kind of big return?
