I remember being blown the fuck away with how insane the tone for the first couple books of yugioh are. It's stright up switching franchises from SAW to pokimon.

Even Toei had to tone a lot of that down, so it wouldn't have really mattered. But yeah, the Pharaoh was pretty sadistic. Also learning Yugi was just your average horny teenager trading porn tapes and ogling his best friend compared to the anime (4KIDS notwithstanding) was a "childhood ruined" moment right there lol.

Hilariously enough, they gave her sexy proportions and I think even a panty shot in the movie, and the audience I was with lost their shit over it. It was great.

I think he still mind crushes people to a lesser extent, but yugi straight up used to physically maim and kill dudes left and right.

I think they also implied that Tea and Yugi were much closer in the movie compared to the series. Not couple tier, but definitely close.

I watched the live-action (Japanese Hulu) adaptation before. The live drama is 45-minute episodes with commercials, characters combined/separated, lots of dialogue, multi-episode arcs, Tatsu is also a stepfather -- it's good too, but it's way more adaptation; the pacing and the feel are different.

The main actor does a great job; I couldn't find any shots of his "creepy smile" but he absolutely nails that part. There's a lot of drama with the Ladies' Association shot exactly the same as a Yakuza drama would be shot.

This anime is "we put the manga on the TV," so I'm glad they did, but I was kind of hoping it'd be... animated, I guess. This feels like they didn't take any risks, so it's good, but there's not much "new."

For those unaware, Shaman King had a special 3-in-1 omnibus manga come out in late March. I’m a big fan of those types of mangas:

I might check it out coming this Summer since compared to some of the big name Shonen Jump titles of their time (Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, Bleach, Yu-Gi-Oh!, YuYu Hakkusho, etc.), I always thought that in North America that Shaman King was a little under appreciated for it’s time.

Outside of the Internet, I don’t see a lot of people talking that much about the rebooted version of the anime that came out recently.
 
Anyone's watching Thunderbolt Fantasy? (Granted it's puppetry not anime but still)

One of the characters pulled out a nendroid merch out of a bag and it's canonically a communication device, I laughed like an idiot for a solid minute.

Yeah stuff like this is part of why I love this show. A complete curveball that hit me like a truck. Also is the implication here that Rin also owns a corresponding Sho nendoroid?

muvluv anime coming this year released a key visual. fingers crossed that they won't butcher it, but i'll be entering this with low expectations to not be disappointed.

It was an anime geared towards kids. The premise is that children and adults use robots called Medabots and they fight each other in matches called robobattles. The winner was able to get one piece from their losers medabot. I remember liking it a lot as a kid and forgot about it until I found a YouTube channel called Medabots Episodes. The YouTube channel has nearly all the episodes from the earlier seasons. I'm really into building robot figurines so I thought it would be nice to share.

This is weird because there was no Muv-Luv Unlimited so its going to be starting from scratch and there's already a Muv-Luv Alternative anime. Not that I care, mind.

Speaking of Nagatoro, after chapter 81, I think they‘re getting to a point where they probably could start wrapping it up. I kind of hope they don‘t yet because it’s a series I look forward to, but several of the major hurdles are past now, and it feels like they might at least be setting it up.

I did notice that, yeah. But I’d also be okay with continuing the series once they actually do hook up. We still have stuff like their families and Sempai’s plans for what he wants to do after graduation that they could focus on.

But yeah, I can see them reaching a satisfying conclusion within a couple more volumes.
