It said "during surgery"... no further details but there are all these public accolades for no apparent reason of someone not famous. Smells like trans-praise. The NYT doesn't say Brayden was trans but I'm assuming based on my eyes/ears.

Huh, I read that article this morning but I had no idea who he was and I didn't clock him. The "Brayden" should have been a clue, but so many people give their kids -den names now.

All the articles I'm seeing say he died from post-surgical complications, so I think you're probably right.

Edit: It was probably top surgery and he threw a clot. He's totally wearing a binder here.

hi my name is lidia and I am a 19 years old trans girl living in Malaysia, born in a strict muslim household which happens to be transphobic and abusive. My own family has been mentally and physically abusing me ever since I got outed as “gay” when i was 15. My father almost dragged me to a “conversion camp” in Indonesia, where god knows what sort of inhumane acts could have been inflicted on me, but things changed and I did not end up going. I had to completely convince him that I was a heterosexual man. He even had me swear on the holy Quran that it was not true, which I had no choice but to do it. I am now left with no support from anybody in my life. The only place where I have found friends who have and still are supporting me is on Twitter. It is the only place where I ever felt accepted for being my true self and in my true gender identity. This is one of the reasons why I have not continued my education and am not enrolled at any college currently. I worked as a waitress for around one year after finishing high school. My family even threatened to hurt me if they find any feminine objects in my room, such as makeups or girl clothes that belong to me. Ever since that, I have been hiding my wigs and makeup away from them, only playing with them whenever I am home alone. I have went through a lot already just because they believed I was “gay”, and I cannot risk my future and tell them that I am trans because things could get a lot worse for me. The reason why I have not moved out the house is because they think I am still young and that they have to have me under their control. I was always scared to make any move until this point.

I will provide you with some information about my family if that would help in any way. I have 4 siblings. I am the third one. I have 2 big brothers and 1 little brother. My mother and father have been divorced since I was 10, and my dad recently disappeared out of nowhere. My mom does not even know where he left, and neither did I, until he contacted me secretly and told me not to tell my mom that he is contacting me and my siblings. Since then, my father has been controlling the family through my eldest brother, by giving him money and all to support us financially. He was basically in charge of us for almost a decade, and my mother till now thinks my dad is dead and I can never tell her anything about my father even now. She continuously neglects me and my brothers like she never cared about us. She was never financially involved with us either, as she has never loved us and has been busy with herself 99% of the time, never thinking about any us at all. She still thinks the company that my father left for us is what has been paying the school fees for my siblings when it was actually my father, and she never even tried to question it at all as she does not care. Since my dad is not home, my eldest brother has been inflicting all sorts of abuse upon me, as he became influenced by my father. My brother reports about me to my father constantly, and they always forbid me to wear makeup or express my identity in any way. They have threatened to hurt me and kick me out of the house. I have no other place to go, not one. One time when he found out I became suicidal and reached a point where I resorted to self-harm and all he did was lash out on me. I was blamed and told that I am crazy, insane, and that I should have just died. In this picture, my mother is not home most of the time, because she is at work usually and I only get to see her twice a week. If I am to tell her about this she would not even be bothered at all and would just support my brother instead. I have now hit rock bottom, as I have no support at all and have no one to talk to besides my online friends. I am living in constant fear, even in my own home. This traumatising abuse has taken a toll on me, and I am scared to even express myself in any way. I would not want anything more than a second chance at life right now, to find happiness somewhere better and escape from them as far as I could and to later hopefully get on hormone replacement therapy. In Malaysia, it is a crime to be a trans man/woman. I have read a lot about how trans girls like me end up in jail with men and get sexually assaulted on the regular, and I am trying to avoid that by leaving this country and settle in somewhere else, where I can put everything behind me and start fresh. That is the only way I can see hope for the future. Most trans girls here end up taking estrogen illegally and resort to sex work, but I have dreams and things I want to achieve in life. I hope to see a bright future for me as a trans girl, hopefully to potentially become a successful artist/graphic designer one day if given the chance. I hope this message has the power to shift my current life path and seek me help that I need.

To be fair, Iran has a lot of transexuals and they're accepted too. I'd say homophobic societies tend to be more okay with transexuals, simply because many people see a straight daughter as prefereable to a gay son. It's the same in England, where most parents who were in contact with Mermaids turned out to be from migrant families and thinking that doctors could turn their gay son into a straight girl.

The big difference between being trans-racial and trans-gender is that race is a far more complicated and hard-to-pin-down topic where two reasonable people could disagree on a particular person's race. Is a black man raised in an affluent, mostly white neighborhood by his (adopted) white family more black than an equally dark half-black man raised in a 95% black neighborhood by his black family? A mixed-race person can look more or less like one race as they age or as they change styles. Sometimes a person of one race will really look like they belong to another (possibly because of unknown racial mixing). Race is a very unscientific concept that doesn't really stand up to any systematic scrutiny.

Gender, on the other hand, is basically just male/female. Some cultures have two male genders (rare) or two female genders (even rarer) and some have a gender for intersex people (which may be the male gender). Gender is always tied to sex, and sex is a scientifically observable biological fact. Troons love to latch onto the existence of intersex people as evidence that it isn't, but even those cases are unambiguous to modern science. We have a simple rule that works for 99.9995% of cases; Y chromosome is male, no Y chromosome is female. XXXY is male. XY is male. XYY is male. XX is female. X is female. XXX is female. It's real simple, the only complicating case (as far as I know, other than mosaicism which is a whole other deal) is Swyer Syndrome where the Y chromosome mutates in a specific way that can be easily identified so there's no actual confusion among scientists.

I didn't think he was FTM. I don't really see it, he's certainly short and a little portly. Jaw isn't so strong and so forth, but I don't read him as female and his voice - to my ear at least - sounds authentically male.

Couldn't find any hint that he was by googling. I don't believe there is any reason to believe this guy is a chick.
The fake indigenous trend is common in Australia. There are some pretty big fakers around as well (though that troon is authentic based on my expert physiognomic analysis).

An interesting point I'd make is that when it comes to faking being an abo, it's often not really a matter of whether anyone actually believes it, but whether it is convenient for them to believe it. Faking is a kind of high risk/high reward strategy for clout; it pays you out in free arts grants, press coverage or whatever have you, but the second you become inconvenient you'll get turned on in a flash and be reduced to persona non grata. But, if you were never going to amount to anything in the first case, then I suppose it's a pretty good trade.

The best example of this is a fellow called Bruce Pascoe. He's a pseudo-historian/anthropologist of sorts, who published a book which basically claims that Australian Aboriginals were actually farmers, lived in large villages etc. Now, the book is complete garbage and I think everyone that's in the know knows that, but bien pensant types like the story so nobody really goes after him for it. For the same reason, everyone just ignores the fact that he claims to be an Aboriginal (Specifically Tasmanian - which is pretty exotic plus some other associations) despite the fact that ancestry records have fairly conclusively proved that he is full of shit. Moreover, he (for fairly obvious reasons) never bothers to sue anyone for pointing it out. So, we get the peculiar situation of this idiot who everyone knows is a fraud in half a dozen different ways is still celebrated by the state broadcaster and various centre-left outlets.

You could argue that the Gujurati & Arab traders were colonizers too. It was them who brought Islam to SE Asia, then there was the ('Hindu') Chola Empire which dominated most of the region for a time; they'd count as colonizers of a sort too, and I don't believe Tamils have any sort of historical third gender.

The Iran thing is a kind of bizarre innovation itself, it emerged basically as a consequence of a protracted lobbying effort by some well connected troon. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Khomeini actually thought that "Yeh, making the gays women is probably the best way to get rid of the problem."
