‘Mandalorian’ Star Gina Carano Under Fire for Controversial Social Media Posts​

Gina Carano, who plays Cara Dune on both seasons of Disney Plus’ “The Mandalorian,” garnered backlash on social media Wednesday after sharing several controversial posts on her Instagram story.

Carano shared the posts on her story late Tuesday night. One of the posts she shared compared today’s divided political climate to Nazi Germany.

“Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors…even by children. Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views,” the post, which was originally made on a different Instagram account, read.

Another photo on Carano’s story featured a person with several cloth masks covering their entire face and head. The caption said “Meanwhile in California.”

Both posts were removed from Carano’s Instagram story Wednesday afternoon. Other posts, including a quote saying “Expecting everyone you encounter to agree with every belief or view you hold is fucking wild” and one saying “Jeff Epstein didn’t kill himself,” remained.

Many people on Twitter began using the hashtag #FireGinaCarano, tagging accounts for Disney, Disney Plus, “Star Wars” and Lucasfilm and requesting that Carano be dropped from “The Mandalorian.”

Carano has courted social media controversy before, previously sharing misinformation about mask wearing and voter fraud. In November 2020, she made light of people including their preferred pronouns on social media by adding “beep/bop/boop” to her Twitter bio, which many fans called out as transphobic. Carano later removed the words after she said she spoke to her “Mandalorian” co-star Pedro Pascal. “He helped me understand why people were putting them in their bios. I didn’t know before but I do now. I won’t be putting them in my bio but good for all you who choose to. I stand against bullying, especially the most vulnerable & [support] freedom to choose,” she wrote at the time.

Representatives for Carano and Disney did not respond to Variety’s request for comment.

This goes for anyone, really. Absolutely nobody should have a Twitter. It's a garbage platform giving voice to people who shouldn't have it.

Why should a public figure even need social media? they don't need to interact with everyone else on a constant basis. It has far more pitfalls than it will ever have good. Stop being show ponies exposing more of your life than you should ever want too for a corporation that will drop you the second the outrage mob throws a tantrum.
 
The sin was defending the political groups (and individuals associated with said groups) which are in the process of being exterminated by the establishment.

If she had said, "The Capitol insurrection was just like Kristallnacht," they would have tripped over themselves to support her in an effort to bolster their agenda.

Also, reading the first page of this thread has greatly increased my admiration for Gina.

She should challenge the MtF trannies and Kathleen Kennedy in a cage match.

In a word, branding. Free promotion for their projects. All of that junk.

Notice though that the really big names like Pitt and DiCaprio have zero public social media accounts. Celebrities would be better served following the example of those guys or even Tom Cruise who only ever posts about the movies he’s making. No social commentary, nothing political, not even a mention of charities or philanthropic stuff. Just straight up positive promotion.

DiCaprio has a Twitter account. But I don't think he uses that much.

I think Christian Bale also doesn't use his twitter account much either.
Most a-listers don't use social media. Except those like Chris Evans and Mark rufflo who used way to much.
 
I think she was already written out of the show and they did this for a publicity boost. She was supposed to get a spinoff. I imagine she goes on an apology tour, endorses Biden, gets even more press and then the spinoff starts.

This is Disney, folks. They absolutely chuckled at her Holocaust reference.

Disney's Lucasfilm fired conservative actress Gina Carano​

Gina Carano, one of the stars of Disney's popular The Mandalorian, hasn't been shy about her conservative politics. Many (myself included) believe that's why Disney's Lucasfilm fired her — although Lucasfilm falsely insinuating that she was fired for being anti-Semitic.
Back in August, Gina Carano, who once was an MMA fighter (which may explain her courage), stood against the woke BLM mob trying to get all Americans to bow before it. She did that by retweeting the famous photo of August Landmesser, who, in 1936, was the only man in a mob of Nazis refusing to give the Nazi salute

The woke Twitter mob went after Carano with unrestrained fury. You can read here about the attacks they levied against her and her refusal to back down.

Despite pushing back against woke madness, Carano continued as an actress on The Mandalorian — until yesterday, that is. That's when Disney's Lucasfilm announced that it had terminated her because "her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable." The story that instantly erupted was that Carano had triggered the firing by publishing something anti-Semitic.

My first thought upon hearing this narrative was that Carano had said something derogatory about George Soros. Soros is a man who is genetically Jewish but who has no Jewish identity and who is famously hostile to Israel. He's also used his vast wealth to undercut every traditional American institution, including the rule of law, most recently by funding prosecutors across America who refuse to enforce the law against criminals.

While Soros is anti-Jewish and anti-Israel, leftists try to paint anyone who criticizes his vile value system as "anti-Semitic." Given Carano's unwillingness to toe the woke party line, it seemed likely that she'd challenged Soros, earning the label "anti-Semitic."

I'd guessed wrong. What Carano did was to repost someone else's Instagram statement:

Being Jewish myself, I'm struggling to find what's anti-Semitic about that statement. I happen to believe that anti-Semitism is a unique hatred, for it is the oldest, the most widespread, and the most malevolent. However, as I read it, the point of the post isn't to diminish anti-Semitism. Instead, it's saying that, as a prerequisite for destroying those they deem political enemies, governments must first teach their majority population to hate those same people.

Same here. I'm prime demographic for Star Wars and the MCU (Gen X comic book/Star Wars nerd with more income than sense) and I stopped watching Disney Star Wars about the same time. Never even bothered with The Mandalorian despite it being somewhat independent of the idiots pulling this shit.

The only upcomibg MCU movie I have even a passing interest in is Doctor Strange 2, and they're trying really hard to lose that last little bit of money from me as well. I saw Endgame to get the end of the story and it was as disappointing as I expected, and that was the only one of the last batch of movies I bothered with.

If the woke suddenly get jobs and money they won't miss me, but odds are they will miss those dollars in the same way Gillette did. Who knows. Won't care unless they make a movie I actually want to see. I'll happily consoom the right flavor of prolefeed.
 
Carano dated Henry Cavill years ago, unless they grew to hate each other he could make a name for himself in being the anti Chris Evans and telling people to fuck off and leave her alone. Hell it would be nice for Bill Burr to defend her if he’s not getting cucked by his wife.

Unless I’m missing a tabloid article about him Cavill has always seemed like he’s a bit more redpilled about stuff like Chris Pratt, but he’s seen how they’ve gone after him and will probably stay quiet.

Seen this in other places now that the story is making the rounds. Pretty disgusting how some places are adding 'anti-Semitic' to articles. How was the comment in any way anti Semitic?

Of course they do it in the most weasely tabloid way with 'allegedly x' or 'comments some have described as x'. Enough to cover your ass from litigation while planting a nasty seed in the mind of most readers. People who have just scanned the headlines will now see her as that anti Jew woman or something. Pretty sad.

Makes since saddly. The story itself really doesn't make it clear what's wrong about what she posted. So adding anti-semitic is the easy way out of it.
Same thing happen to Isaiah Washington. They had a Gay director on grays Anatomy for an episode. The guy was asshole to everyone on set and so Mr. Washington told him off and called him a faggot. Before you know it the guy is fired and blacklisted. He's been labeled a homophobe since. Despite it being clear the real piece of shit in that story was the director.

I feel bad for her. When her message was clearly a warning. That liberals don't care for.
