‘Mandalorian’ Star Gina Carano Under Fire for Controversial Social Media Posts

Gina Carano

Gina Carano, who plays Cara Dune on both seasons of Disney Plus’ “The Mandalorian,” garnered backlash on social media Wednesday after sharing several controversial posts on her Instagram story.

Carano shared the posts on her story late Tuesday night. One of the posts she shared compared today’s divided political climate to Nazi Germany.

“Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors…even by children. Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views,” the post, which was originally made on a different Instagram account, read.

Another photo on Carano’s story featured a person with several cloth masks covering their entire face and head. The caption said “Meanwhile in California.”

Both posts were removed from Carano’s Instagram story Wednesday afternoon. Other posts, including a quote saying “Expecting everyone you encounter to agree with every belief or view you hold is fucking wild” and one saying “Jeff Epstein didn’t kill himself,” remained.

Many people on Twitter began using the hashtag #FireGinaCarano, tagging accounts for Disney, Disney Plus, “Star Wars” and Lucasfilm and requesting that Carano be dropped from “The Mandalorian.”

Carano has courted social media controversy before, previously sharing misinformation about mask wearing and voter fraud. In November 2020, she made light of people including their preferred pronouns on social media by adding “beep/bop/boop” to her Twitter bio, which many fans called out as transphobic. Carano later removed the words after she said she spoke to her “Mandalorian” co-star Pedro Pascal. “He helped me understand why people were putting them in their bios. I didn’t know before but I do now. I won’t be putting them in my bio but good for all you who choose to. I stand against bullying, especially the most vulnerable & [support] freedom to choose,” she wrote at the time.

Representatives for Carano and Disney did not respond to Variety’s request for comment.

Very shitty but on the bright side it's not like I pay for shit I watch anyway.

Same. Shows like Magnum P.I, Walker Texas Ranger, MacGyver, Knight Rider and Hercules.

Also Laverne and Shirley is surprisely good way cant female leads be good these days.

Also Touch by Angel was great that showed redemption and that humans make mistakes, but it doesn't make them evil. Now and days shows don't do that.

People talk about "getting with the times" all the time when it comes to female representation. I don't know what shitty shows and movies those people watched, but I grew up with countless female-led shows and movies. Laverne and Shirley was one of them-- a childhood fave of mine, and it turns out that I still love it as an adult.

Adult baby millennials say dumb shit like how Disney Princesses gave them unrealistic expectations for romance. For me, Laverne and Shirley gave me unrealistic expectations for genuine female friendship. 😆

Nowadays, old stuff is refreshing to watch because it doesn't browbeat the audience into submission. Did you watch the Super Bowl this past Sunday? It was an absolute bombardment of accusatory bullshit for anyone who cared to watch. We're racists, we're divisive, we need improvement, etc. etc. etc. It was so excruciatingly unfun to watch.

This "woke" shit is a dogma at this point; a mainstream cult ... And it's making fucking everybody miserable.

Also way is Pedro such a ass. I'm tired of people like Chris Evans and him defending being assholes. Because "my brother is gay" or "my sister's a troon".
Seriously Kirk Cameron comes off better than these guys as a person.

So did Pedro and Gina get along exactly

Well, Pedro has said some asshole things ... But did he not come to the defense of Gina Carano back in December or something? Or did I hear that wrong?

I agree. Look at touch by a angel Monica it's probably one of my favorite characters every. If the show was made today, she would be a bitchy feminist angel. I grew up with a lot of female characters that I loved. I seriously don't know what woke retards talk about when they go on their rants. I agree they need to stop. The old shows are fun to watched, the new crap you just can't watch with out feeling like you want to kill one of the main characters.

If he was good friends with her. I feel like he could have helped her bit with keeping her job, even with different political views. I wouldn't do that to a friend.

I think Pedro's sister is a troon.

Often the pronoun game and this stuff, if you aren't exposed you don't understand.

It is just her being unPC. Remember with the current day, anything that isn't pro woke, is seen as working to uphold oppression. Which is why you're not allowed to make harmless jokes about it.
I think pedro is a potential troon

He liked some of her “controversial” tweets like her explaining the pronoun shit. The SJWs were screaming at him for a brief time for both liking the tweets and not condemning her publicly.

According to rumor, Pascal was dealing with his own Disney crap during the production of season two. Word was that he might be getting canned from the show. The reason? He was pushing for more camera time— as in taking off the mask— and Disney and Favreau told him to fuck off. This was after it came out at the end of season one that stuntmen did nearly all the on-camera work and Pedro’s role was almost completely voice work.

Ultimately he wasn’t fired but that doesn’t mean that Disney didn’t tell him to check himself and behave.

As for Gina, Disney probably thought they didn’t need two butch badasses now that they have Katee Sachoff and decided to cut their losses with Gina who was becoming too controversial. They hate that. She was probably told to tone down the social media sperging, she didn’t, so bye bye.

Gina must’ve really pissed someone off as her agency UTA just fired her. Meanwhile like an hour later Pedro landed the lead in the HBO adaptation of The Last of Us. Sucking the right cock in Hollywood pays off, literally and metaphorically.

I can't help but feel this was done on purpose so she could go for a broken contract against Disney while also getting out of what was probably an insufferable work environment. Looking at the state of SW Disney she'd have to of known she wasn't 'untouchable' or 'un-fireable'. Maybe she's aware they're about to tank the Mandalorian and decided to have some fun on the way out, while also getting a nice severance pay for a nonsense firing. She has toys made which means she's sold her image to Disney and there's no way she wasn't working under a contract.

At the same time I dunno how you can let her go for this but still hire Rosario Dawson to be Tano with the intent of giving her, her own show when she's involved in a court case because of supposed physical abuse against a trans person.

A local diner near us usually has MyTV on and one evening recently an episode of Happy Days came on where Richie falls in love with a Democrat campaigner, much to the chagrin of his Republican voting dad. It doesn't present one better than the other - Stevie is motivated because he's a horny teen, while dad is aghast that his kid would "break family voting tradition" . Mom talks him into seeing his public speech in favour of Stevenson which dad heckles a little but is eventually convinced to respect the effort. The Fonz does a speech for Eisenhower which goes down better in the crowd (also: free pizza).

Election day rolls over and Stevenson lost, the campaign center is basically dead and the cute campaigner Richie did all this for skips out on him. Dad shows up and he doesn't gloat but instead commiserates with him and explains he was more angry because he hadn't recognised that his kid was growing up and forming his own views of the world which he recognises is a good thing.

It was still a genuinely entertaining episode and didn't really feel like a soapbox even though they used an actual election. Whereas if that was made today, you know the dad would be written as an unrepentant jerk unless he was somehow "won over" .

Pedro's in that glass closet unfortunately. If he ever came out the mouse would probably go nuts.

Now.....let us see what they do about Chris Pratt.

Lol Grace Randolph is still trying that narrative when there's literally no evidence of that happening. Meanwhile Disney had planned on canning Carano because she wouldn't shut up about Trump. If she had laid low or simply apologized she would probably have kept her job (see: vic mignogna)

Anyway I'm more looking forward to The Adventures of Boba Fett & Ming Na. She's the best and they work well together.

I really don't know anymore one of these days people are going to be sick of the woke culture and I hope Hollywood suffers when that happens

It depends how it collides with the bottom line.

When it comes to movies, it may very well collide soon. The movie industry is devistated from COVID. They aren't going to want to be producing expensive movies that people won't want to see. Streaming though, even if you aren't watching woke stuff, you're still subsidising it.

They think they need to ram woke down the intolerant masses throats until their minds break free and are suddenly enlightened with woke. If they aren't annoying people, then they aren't trying hard enough. This is why people feel it's being shoved in their face.

It's part of critical theory. Those who aren't woke are incapable of being talked to or persuaded into being woke. They're brainwashed by society to be incapable of thinking or acting in a manner other than upholding systemic oppression. So in order to break that mindset free, they have to go above and beyond what is reasonable or rational in pushing the woke agenda. End freedom of speech, end traditional ways of convincing people, because that simply won't work.

It's why I worry woke won't eventually eat itself. The ideology itself facilitates bullshit and hypocrisy Normal rules of discourse or logic don't apply. It necessitates it in order to woke people's minds. Even if people aren't wanting it, that informs them they need to push it harder. Get more unreasonable, more insane. Everything is judged if it working on mission to woke people. To support the agenda or not.

They’re going to have the same issue with Richard Madden when The Eternals comes out in a few months. They probably wouldn’t care if their token gay was a nice, married type but that’s not Pascal or Madden.

As for the Randolph rumor, it could’ve been a false PR story for leverage or hype. It’s not like recording voice over is a huge commitment.

So democrats can call Republicans nazis publicly all day but she can't do the opposite? What a bunch of bullshit, fuck Disney. I'm so sick of this shit.

I remember that episode quite vividly. Happy Days first appeared on Nick-At-Nite back when I was 10 years old or something, and I remember that being one of the first episodes of the show that I ever watched. Good stuff.

There's a pretty famous episode regarding race relations (as Happy Days and its spin-offs like Laverne & Shirley took place in the 1950s). Fonzie enters a bar with two friends (one of them being black) and sees a "WHITES ONLY" sign. The bartender asks Fonzie if he can read the sign, and Fonzie responds, "Nah, I can't-- I'm colorblind," and proceeds to have a drink with both of his friends like a boss. It was actually a really cool and cute moment that really says all any decent person needs to say about race, right? By today's standards, though, saying "I'm colorblind" is somehow racist. These woke assholes don't want us to get along, plain and simple. "Unity," my ass.

I don't care what Gina Carano's political leanings are. I don't care what Pedro Pascal's political leanings are. If Disney fired one due to an "overtly political presence on social media," then they should absolutely fire the other for the same damn thing ... But you know that they won't. Prejudice and even oppression due to "wrongthink" is perfectly acceptable to both mega corporations and politicians. We're living in a very dangerous time right now, I'm afraid.

Fuck sjws and their fragile egos. Gimme my hats dammit

:( no more hats and puzzles.

But yes, these SJWz think racism is power plus privilege, those pesky Jooz had both, many rich ones even initially supported the SS, just to find themselves Choochoochooing to a one-way vacation.

Disney finally creates a female Star Wars character that fans actually like... and they ultimately nix her because checkmarks on Twitter don't like the actress.

I'd hope that it hurts Disney but, really, I doubt it'll even dent them at all.

i love the people on twitter announcing they'll suck corporate cock to get back at the "dudebros" who say they'll cancel their disney plus accounts.
don't support the rich, unless it allows us to get back at DUH NAZEES!
