‘Mandalorian’ Star Gina Carano Under Fire for Controversial Social Media Posts

Gina Carano

Gina Carano, who plays Cara Dune on both seasons of Disney Plus’ “The Mandalorian,” garnered backlash on social media Wednesday after sharing several controversial posts on her Instagram story.

Carano shared the posts on her story late Tuesday night. One of the posts she shared compared today’s divided political climate to Nazi Germany.

“Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors…even by children. Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views,” the post, which was originally made on a different Instagram account, read.

Another photo on Carano’s story featured a person with several cloth masks covering their entire face and head. The caption said “Meanwhile in California.”

Both posts were removed from Carano’s Instagram story Wednesday afternoon. Other posts, including a quote saying “Expecting everyone you encounter to agree with every belief or view you hold is fucking wild” and one saying “Jeff Epstein didn’t kill himself,” remained.

Many people on Twitter began using the hashtag #FireGinaCarano, tagging accounts for Disney, Disney Plus, “Star Wars” and Lucasfilm and requesting that Carano be dropped from “The Mandalorian.”

Carano has courted social media controversy before, previously sharing misinformation about mask wearing and voter fraud. In November 2020, she made light of people including their preferred pronouns on social media by adding “beep/bop/boop” to her Twitter bio, which many fans called out as transphobic. Carano later removed the words after she said she spoke to her “Mandalorian” co-star Pedro Pascal. “He helped me understand why people were putting them in their bios. I didn’t know before but I do now. I won’t be putting them in my bio but good for all you who choose to. I stand against bullying, especially the most vulnerable & [support] freedom to choose,” she wrote at the time.

Representatives for Carano and Disney did not respond to Variety’s request for comment.

Is Star Wars cancelled now, for its based sheriff lady being a based real life human?

This is amazing and I love it

Lol so it turns out Lucasfilm planned to unveil Gina Carano as the star of her own show during December’s investors day. They scrubbed those plans after erratic tweets in November

I mean the shit she's posted is dumb and the kind of shit you'd see your borderline senile aunt post on FB, but I don't think she should be fired for it.

If the mouse should fire anyone related to SW, it's E.L. James. Bitch called SW fans Nazis for liking certain fictional space wizards, plus someone that can't tell reality from fiction has no place getting paid to write it.

I'd be more fine with Gina getting canned if Disney also didn't let people like Pedro Pascal (who's compared Trump supporters to the Third Reich numerous times) and that chick who said that all white people are racist continue to be employed with them. They didn't fire her because she's a terrible person who says dumb shit, they fired her because she's a terrible person who says dumb shit who bats for the wrong team.

The fact that an army of fat people with too much free time tagged every Disney/Star Wars account demanding for her to get fired otherwise they'd cancel their Disney+ subscriptions probably helped.

I’ve got five bucks that says she holds out.

This is a woman who trained to walk into a chain link cage and beat the living snot out of similarly trained opponents. Bitch don’t scare easy.

Edit: I think it’s worth mentioning that Pedro Pascal was able to change her opinion by coming to her as a friend and making an honest effort to sway her to his point of view.
he did? how come its not mentioned anywhere.

The formatting for the article is shite but it's hanging out at the bottom. In fairness it doesn't say he came to her as a friend but it strongly implies that this was a friendly approach rather than a public carpet bombing.

It sucks becuase I was really happy to see a non liberaltard on a current show I liked. So it sucks she won't be on the show anymore. I think there may be only two shows that I watch that has two none Libertards playing main characters that I like wait now.

It's the inconsistency and favoritism that's really maddening. Lots of people probably dumped Disney after Pedro's TDS, but the ONLY difference was they didn't whine about it on social media and righteously demand his scalp, they just did it.

My dad's not wrong for watching older shows. Actors in those were not woke retards.
For the past week, I've been re-watching some classic sitcoms. I'm not a Boomer, but I did grow up watching a lot of "boomer" shows back in the 90's because of stuff like Nick-At-Nite and TV Land.

I just breezed through Season 1 of Laverne and Shirley, and it was absolutely delightful and it managed to put me in a good mood this week. Remember when shows only cared about entertaining their audience?

Same. Shows like Magnum P.I, Walker Texas Ranger, MacGyver, Knight Rider and Hercules.

Also Laverne and Shirley is surprisely good way cant female leads be good these days.

Also Touch by Angel was great that showed redemption and that humans make mistakes, but it doesn't make them evil. Now and days shows don't do that.
