Just wanted to recommend a couple recent reads I've enjoyed that I think might be worth checking out.
  • BIBLIOMANIA - Super short series at just one volume but it's a super interest sci-fi series with some truly great artwork. Can't say much else since I don't really want to spoil the story.
  • Rojica to Rakkasei - Like Moomin but now with even more creepy and weird events happening. Complete at 25 chapters with only the last one still not translated. Features a really simple yet intriguing art style with episodic adventures of the two title characters Rojica and Rakka along with other strange residence of their post-apocalyptic(?) world.
Been having trouble recently finding interesting manga to read or at least getting into anything has been difficult, just haven't been in the mood for much.

They were making a somewhat interesting argument around an ongoing problem, but then they just made it about black girls specifically being the most oppressed. The issue as I see it isn't really gatekeeping but the people that take things far more serious than they have to and care way too much about people finding enjoyment in their hobby. I have literally zero problem with people saying they're into random geek hobby because it has zero impact on my life, at most if it's someone I know it just means I can talk about a shared interest. The actual problem is with people demanding a hobby change to their whim and to the detriment of other fans, acting as a moral authority above everyone else. That isn't just a problem with new fans as any fan can believe themselves as "deserving" the authority to dictate changes for a range of reasons.

You do have issues in fandoms of some people acting like absolute ass hats towards those they believe aren't "True Fans" which can get really annoying. I don't get why random nobodies on the internet believe themselves important enough to demand someone else list off their credentials and then lord it above someone when they believe they're lacking.

Just remembered that Redo of Healer is supposed to come out in about a month. I watched the recent PV and it actually looks like they put in effort to animate it. It's going to make the inevitable sperging out on twitter and reddit even more hilarious. Also is it me or does the protagonist bear an oddly striking resemblance to Rance?

Might just be me but the new PV seems kind of tame for the series in question. Decided to watch some old PVs for some other shows that caused people to get riled up recently (goblin slayer and shield hero), to see if they felt just as tame and they sort of are, but unlike with the Healer PV they show have nuggets of what later made them contentious with some people.
Does this mean I think that the Hearler anime will be nurtured?
no.
Am I expecting it to be tamer then the LN and manga.
Yes
Do I think it'll cause a shit storm
maybe. See I noticed that the shows that cause people to chimp out recent have two things going for them
1. They are heavily pushed on a streaming service as one of if not the hit shows of the season.
2. The shocking aspect always happens in the first episode
This is just my personal opinion but I'm only giving healer a 50/50 chance of it causing one since A; no streaming service has picked it up yet and if one does I'm expecting them to treated it as there b grade show of the season at best, and B; knowing the series I'm not expecting the "revenge shenanigans" to happen until episode 2 or 3.

I first noticed Redo of Healer because Dimitri Monroe was posting about it. If studio doesn't fuck things up by adding immense censorship, it can be pretty good 18+ anime.

I've definitely seen H-games with basically the same premise before.

All Japanese have a rape fetish. Its science.

Anime always had some edgelord stuff. It just now also went mainstream so normies and SJWs complain about it. Fate/Stay Night had a woman get eaten/raped to death by worms, but now adays you can find Tumblr types who love the series and praise how it has #LGBT characters because of the threesome scene. Difference between then and now is that the old style Otoku just stayed away from the stuff they didn't like. If you don't want to watch Rance violate a bunch of woman, you just don't play a Rance game. Normies and Tumblr types hate the very existence of the edgelord stuff and try to stop it from existing. Like now with the Redo stuff.

That is the thing basically, they don't have a point. If you don't like something then don't watch it. There isn't really a point to stopping other people from watching something even if its terrible.
I feel like these days we have an 'edgelord limit' so we have to be mindful of the edgelord series we make because if we use up our edgelord limit, we won't get others because it will scare studios. In a perfect world, I'd want none of these considerations and people make just what they felt like would be fun/cool/profitable/interesting. But the world sadly doesn't work like that. I'm with you. Don't like it? Don't buy it, watch it or support it. The problem is that these days, you are basically dragged out from your home and strung up for wrongthink or liking something different. That way with quality edgelord stuff you can stand up and defend it.

With shlock like Redo of Healer, it is going to trigger the entirety of the fucking internet as rape is a plot point. I mean, its going to be fucking apocalyptic. Maybe that's what they're banking on. Not like the Japs give a fuck what the gaijin's think about anyway.

I mean....I don't see how you air this unless you do it on Japan's version of HBO.

She should be worried about getting shot at instead of anime.

You're not wrong. I watched a hentai called Zero Sum Game Sex Crime. It was weird and the ending made no sense. A rock vocalist is in love with his brother, so he decides to get revenge by having his girlfriend raped? It abruptly ended, so I decided to read the manga and the story has quite a fucked up "happy ending" and I'm pretty sure that the rape fetish stereotype is justified.

There will be an edited and uncut version being shown on AT-X, a channel that specializes in showing uncensored shows. It'll be offensive from the looks of it, but I doubt it'll be THAT extreme.

Also, fake rape bad and talking about it will get you banned, but let's not focus on the accusations of Dylan "Hazukari" Kielman and Justin Sevakis.

Well after reading some of Redo of Healer I just see it as a comedy. Like just look at this description of the starting hero party in the beginning, you have a sadistic princess, an extreme man hating lesbian, Donovan 2.0 and the MC who is a drug addict at the mercy of these lunatics.

Also it'll be interesting how people see the MC. One of the things that kickstarts the MC's revenge boner is that he was raped (by both men and women), beaten, abused, drugged, etc. Obviously the MC is over the top edgy with his revenge but at the very least there's a foundation as to why he's so hellbent on fucking with a particular group of people.

Yeah that edgelord show isn't for me at all but there's something comforting about japan still doing its own thing and not giving a shit about what the morality police thinks.

All I know is that next season looks like it'll be heaven for shitposters and I'm glad most of the ones I'm interested in are unlikely to have the worst of them shitting up threads. Currently interested in:
-Beastars s2
-Yuru Camp s2
-Horimiya
-Back Arrow
-SK∞ (what a name, looks like it'll be fun with EXTREME SKATEBOARDING)
-Ura Sekai Picnic
-Wonder Egg Priority

Don't know about anything else, still making my way through this seasons stuff. I'm really not good at the whole weekly watching thing since I usually like to watch several episodes in short bursts.

The winter 2020 anime I'm looking forward to Non Non Biyori: Non-Stop.

The main cast did an hour-long panel on Youtube on Sunday (in Japan) reminiscing about previous seasons and the movie.

I think, left to right, they're Kotori Koiwai (Renge Miyauchi), Rie Murakawa (Hotaru Ichijou), Ayane Sakura (Natsumi Koshigaya), and Kana Asumi (Komari Koshigaya). The voice actor for the other student of Asahigaoka Branch School, big brother Suguru Koshigaya, was unavailable for comments. Suguru doesn't talk and therefore Suguru's VA is officially "????".

Someone posted OIshinbo way back in the thread and it's pretty fun. I was watching the Inka-subs version because i don't like the split episodes releases the "official" youtube channel does. Somewhere between episodes 19-23, inka stopped subbing them because of the "official" channel releasing episodes subbed and is rumored to be officially licensed in the US. The Official channel on the other hand, is going to skip 15 episodes and release everything in 2 parts. Does anyone know if Oishinbo is going to get a legit release in the US? because i'd rather buy it than watch it 2parts. .

Otherside Picnic and Kemono Jihen are probably going to be decent action/supernatural picks if you're fine with overlooking a bit of yuri/shota pandering. Good luck finding somewhere to discuss either one, though.

The fact that where getting 2 cells at work series airing at the same time might be interesting in terms of discussion.

I wonder how TMS/Telecom Animation Film will handle Nagatoro-san chapter 33, where Gamo-chan, Yoshi, and finally Nagatoro herself find that they really, really enjoy Sempai's fried chicken? I doubt they're going to draw those reaction shots exactly as they were drawn in the manga, maybe they'll just focus on the faces or they'll draw the goofy cartoon chickens larger to cover more skin.

How do they handle it in that one food anime?
