I get that some folks name their kid just something pretty, or something u-neek and sure, fuck it if you’re the 20th Isabella in class, but what if you’re named after an ancestor, or a person who your family loved like a dear friend or even a song that meant something to them. Yes, if the first child is female. However, nothing is preventing the abortion of the second child if it also happens to be female. The two-child policy is a failsafe in case the first child is female. This may have slightly aided the imbalance of male and female populations in the country, but the abortion rate of female fetuses will still be exponentially higher than that of male fetuses.

And to be fair, sex-based oppression is very much a real thing, whether you chose to believe it or not, and there's not much anyone can do about it.
