Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't toning down the costumes in DOA because the creators were hoping to make massive shekels in E sports and they had to meet broadcasting standards, not because of an sjw conspiracy?
Yes this is true, RMika for SF5 had the same complaints from ESPN(which is Disney owned) because they couldn't show her default outfit because the white man fears a woman with that much ass.

ESports ruin entire genres so this upcoming generation is going to be interesting since esports are pretty much dead.

No, when DOA Xtreme 3 didn't get a western release, they specifically mentioned SJW politics as the reason.
Do you know many issues happening in video game industry with regard to how to treat female in video game industry? We do not want to talk those things here. But certainly we have gone through in last year or two to come to our decision. Thank you.

No, when DOA Xtreme 3 didn't get a western release, they specifically mentioned SJW politics as the reason.

True, but the toning down that happened with DOA 6 was specifically stated to be so they could make more money from being featured in EVO, who fucked them over anyway. As such, they introduced the skimpy outfits with the DLC just like they did with DOA 5.

Plus, DOA Xtreme 3 was right when Anita was at the height of her influence in the gaming industry and the Woke Left was gaining momentum.

The Woke Left is largely focused on BLM and Antifa to beat the evil Orange Man and are too busy sperging about their hatred of White males and love of She-Ra to even really care about skimpy outfits on attractive women in games anymore. Last of Us Part II only became a focus to defend because Neil Druckmann and Anita intentionally brought it up and said the quiet part out loud when it came to making their women intentionally ugly.

Consequently, they ended up making the vidya equivalent of a snuff film where a troon murders a lesbian couple with a golf club and it only avoided the "problematic" stigma because they used the right purr words and virtue signaled hard enough that sheer tribalism kicked in. It still underperformed and wound up with a lopsided reception where pretentious critics loved it and everyone else hated it or were indifferent overall

Now Anita is trying to keep her old 2014-era grift relevant in 2020 by going after The Mandalorian of all things since she burned all her bridges in the gaming industry and used up the last of her lifelines with The Last of Us Part II.

She applied her old video game grift to a new TV show by a notoriously woke company and she is failing miserably at it.

Now that EVO has crashed and burned in the worst possible way, I could see DOA make a comeback and explicitly pandering to the fanservice crowd. Especially if they don't rely on Sony too much or if Sony ends up ending their woke policies after a few more flops.

"Get Woke, Go Broke" always seemed like a cope in the pre-2020 era since these mega-corps had more money than God but now that COVID-19 has imperially fucked everyone not named Jeff Bezos, more woke flops can and will have a lot more sting to them.

TLOU2 was the only one that didn't do well and they had to use Ghosts of Tsushima to cover for it.

Spiderman Miles Moralas and Demon's Souls remake both did well. TLOU2 was an outlier.

Astro's Playroom and Bugsnax were both given away for free, so those sales numbers are going to be inflated. But they were devoid of political retardation. Bugsnax had a reference to the Krusty Burger Ribwich(i.e. "think smaller, more legs" which is what the Ribipede is in the game) but that was it.

Honestly the policy is more than likely just going to fade quietly, especially after they finalized the Crunchyroll purchase which the app is being advertised to be usable on the Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X

As far as if Japan Studio will make games like gravity Rush they've got a bunch of stuff that's unlisted or unnamed. But Demon's Souls remake is driving the console sales more than Spiderman is, and that has Japan Studio attached to it. The Soulsborne games are third person which would fit the whole idea of Sony pursuing 3rd person adventure games just like Nintendo pursued 2d and 3d platformers. Dumping resources into a broad genre isn't really a bad thing since you're going to get a lot of different takes on it from many studios.

Gravity Rush and it's sequel are not without it's game design problems, manty of the issues that the game had, other similar games like Spiderman did not. I would say the potential for the sequel remains but they're going to have to fix a ton of core issues with how the game controls(i.e. Kat handles like a flying brick, and most of the combat moves were useless, and many enemies were just designed poorly and felt tedious to fight). Side Missions also were not very elaborate or good and didn't really fully utilize the core game mechanics well.

1. I'll admit, I never followed the Demon Souls remake and I figured the Miles Morales Spider-Man game would do well because it's Marvel (the one woke franchise that does good no matter what) and because the PS4 Spider-Man game did very well.

While the first Last of Us game did well, it wasn't as tried and true of a brand as Spider-Man is, both within video games and in pop culture as a whole

2. Agreed that the demise of woke culture and woke censorship policies will be a quiet and subtle thing and they'll try to do everything they can to avoid drawing attention to it. Sort of like how we transitioned from the edgy cultural zeitgeists of the 1990's and 2000's to the woke pretentious cultural zeitgeist of the 2010's

>I didn't like it so it's shit

2 is hardly comparable and only exists because people liked the first game enough, and sony missed like most companies that crank out sequels to games with a strong niche following why people liked the first game to begin with. 2 is the literal definition of "less is more".

besides, it's not about gravity rush, but games of that scope and target demographic. sony has already stated that they want big yearly releases for westerners like some shitty hollywood blockbuster, that's the opposite of a broad catalogue to attract multiple smaller overlapping playerbases. DeS is also a remake in a popular series and sells mostly on that meme status alone, same as spiderman sells on brand. most of the rest of sony's games are the typical over the shoulder third person movie games, there's a reason it's easy for people to shit on them since they all blend together and are mostly driven by marketing and brand, same way ubisoft games all follow the same formula. TLOU2 might have underperformed but still sold millions, yet days gone was arguably a more enjoyable game but hardly anyone remembers that one.

they're still in california infested with sois and dangerhairs, and given how japan tends to be years behind (which sometimes works in their favor skipping shit trends), they'll mostly double down long after the west has moved on, and AAA games don't get cheaper the make. heck TLOU2 could've sold much more even in it's current state just with minor changes, but druckmann decided to go full retard.
and that's not considering how long it's gonna take to get rid of all that rot to begin with, wokeshit is here to stay for a while, in some form or other.

Over the shoulder movie games were just the ones made by Naughty Dog

God of War certainly gave you more freedom to explore as did Horizon and Ghosts. They're still putting out a new Ratchet and Clank and other 3d platformers too. People don't consider Red Dead Redemption or Grand Theft Auto movie games, but they have the same third person set up.

I mean here's another third person game sony is funding, The Pathless.
It's not a movie game, but it's still doing everything in third person it also set up vastly different than most of the others as far as gameplay mechanics go.

Ubisoft's formula relies on having the game be cut to billion pieces and be resold as DLC, if you have a counter to that within the same genre that can pull equal or greater sales with no hacked off DLC or exp currency you're now offering a better product and giving a major company competition. If Horizon can beat the living shit out of AssCreed or Farcry and causes them to severely underperform that now gives ubisoft a big black eye, this is like some other company releasing a football game and having it beat out madden. it breaks the stranglehold and the bad gameplay practices that arise when only one company monopolizes a genre. You can't have genres of games get better when you have stagnation, just look at Blizzard for the prime example. Ubisoft is a similar one trick pony.

In general I think we're going to get to the point this gen where cut scenes stop being done as a break in the action or need to be relied on heavily for a narrative, and instead happen all in game. I don't mean in engine cutscenes or QTEs, I mean everything happening all from the player's perspective while the character is being controlled. We got very close in the Final Fantasy 7 remake were people couldn't tell if stuff was in engine or pre-rendered. They seem to be pushing the fast load times real hard and this would be the logical next step to build upon it.

god of war is the same talking while walking like most sony games, being more open than linear af ND games doesn't change that (and if I'd wanna be nitpicky the only open part is the lake hub)
rockstar games are few and far between and have hardly much to do with sony's own release strategy.

wat

ubisoft at worst sells you a deluxe edition which includes the season pass + cosmetics and that's all when it comes to content, it's not even necessary half the time and the base game is still big enough on it's won. the only games they're "milking" if you wanna call it that are their mp stuff like siege which you can still grind. no else gives a crap about cosmetics that don't even fit the game (to the point massive had to constantly shift around and nerf free keys repeatedly when no one paid money for that shit and outright lying about it when people brought it up.).
horzion had fuck all effect on asscreed, which not to mention released on 3 different platforms (and horizon had it's own expansion, so much for "hacked off DLC"), no idea what you're smoking.
even fc5 did ok apparently, the only games that bombed were the ones ubisoft fucked up on their own, they don't need a sony exclusive for that. next you're telling me DeS was the reason valhalla and wd legion is $70 mediocrity.

That's not true at all. They did a dirty job on GR Breakpoint and The Division 2 (they promised 3 expansions but only released 2 before switching to the Battle Pass scam model because Massive didn't want to work on the game anymore) but they never cut the content from the main game to release it later. You might be thinking about the recent CoDs and Halo 5.

Nope AssCreed origins had a load of stuff from the main campaign that was sold as bonus DLC quests for preordering. All the Day 1 DLC bullshit that comes out on release day is stuff cut from the campaign and repackaged. They're all made in the same work pipeline.

This is different from an expansion because that's developed separately at a later date and it's usually way more content or nearly a full game, like Monster Hunter iceborne.

Steam is apparently running a Latinx Games Festival thing. Yes the x is deliberate.

Nobody seems impressed or even noticed it. I just find it hilarious because they showed a fat white bitch talking, I mean, she might have some semblance of Latin in her, but I can't fucking see it.

The only response thus far:

American sjws can't seem to comprehend the gendered grammar of Romance languages and that demanding other cultures conform to their standards is regressive and totalitarian. Not everything can be expressed through gender neutrality, it constraints artistic freedom.

That aside, I seen some Latino's note they already had a gender neutral word in the form of "Latine."

Also summing up their attitudes to "latinx" with a meme:

This one is my favorite. I can understand it even with my baby level spanish:

Basically "this was a term created by white liberals that homogenizes 450 million people and the cultures. There's only countrymen, not latinos. Goddamn colonizars."

I feel bad for the devs participating. On one hand, more publicity is good. On the other, some of your fellow people feel betrayed.

I normally try not to engage SJWs except when the term Latinx comes up, for several reasons and one of them being "shit made up by people who don't even speak up the language and pretend to know better than hispanics". I die a little inside whenever they play the "WELL LANGUAGE IS ALWAYS EVOLVING" card.
I hope these assholes kept being ridiculed and told to fuck off, It is always a pleasant surprise to see a bunch hispanics doing so in the replies since mexiboos and other american LARPers can't get too uppity with them else they just end up giving them ammunition.

Everybody seems to hate this event. Almost like social media is an echo chamber or something and not what you should be basing marketing decisions on.

Is automatic content checking a thing that gets toggled on and off or is it something for flagged users? Because their announcement thread has started using it.

EDIT: So on the twitter of it and apparently Paulsen - an animator at Valve - was behind the crew developing this and probably their inroad to the sales special. What shocks me is that someone at WB Animation was also a part of this so... yeah, shit's everywhere. You got Bioware staff involved, etc. Also Paulsen only offers free lessons to Latinx individuals; so sorry Latinos, you ain't white enough apparently.
