I know that companies can’t make you waive away all your rights to sue (like at a trampoline park, say). Does this also apply to doctors? While doing some wild speculation in the Kevin Gibes thread, I came upon this informed consent document for estrogen transgender hormone therapy from the University of Iowa Health Care system. Nobody with a different option of any kind should ever sign a document like this. It is nothing less than a notice of experimental treatment. From the document:
"I know that the side effects and safety of these medicines are not completely known. There may be long-term risks that are not yet known."
"I know that the information in this form includes the known effects and risks. I also know that there may be unknown long-term effects of risks."
I am stunned it doesn't have a no-sue clause. It should, for sure. This is a "SAMLE", so maybe the final version does.
