Finally passed that dreaded film asset mission in Vice City. The seaplane mission, Dildo Dodo. On mobile.

Basically, you have to fly through checkpoints while dropping posters from one end to another with a Seaplane. Under a fuel gauge. It's particularly tricky because a couple checkpoints are tucked between buildings. And the flying physics with the plane are harder than a helicopter

One tip I learned through gradual play to maneuver said plane: to gain altitude, rock the analog stick up and down like you're doing an upward curve. Make your turns slowly. Don't be afraid to fall back into the ocean to regain stability.

Man I can't even imagine trying to play that on mobile. I played it on PC and had to break out a flight stick.

Something I noticed with the mobile version, flying in general is harder. I can't rotate the camera when flying anywhere.

Revisiting Vice City is an experience. A lot of love, care and experience was crafted in this once planned expansion pack for III. The 80s music amplifies said experience of Miami.

Oh agree absolutely. They laid the foundation for capturing the feel of an era via music and environment and then cranked that up to eleven with San Andreas. I remember when I got VC installed and fired up, of course the first thing I did was just go buck wild and wreck shit, got five stars immediately. I called a pal of mine and was gushing about it, I told him "I just got chased through downtown Miami in a stolen car, blasting "Two Tribes" by Frankie Goes to Hollywood, and got spun out and busted by Crockett and Tubbs driving a white ferrari." He bought the game the next day.

To answer the question of money in III; considering the first GTA came out 4 years prior, and money was not a thing, but instead points were: that is your answer. The points in the first GTA served the same purpose as money did. You could buy things with them. I only now truly see that money in the 3D era of GTA really was a carry over of that old points system. Why else would they have it go up to over 99M$ when you'll only truly ever need a million in any of those games? Cause it's to elicit that same euphoria of getting points. Also you're a criminal, so having a bunch of money you don't actually need is kind of really fitting and all that.

Even if you weren't around in the 80s, Vice City is like a greatest hits complication of that time period. An interactive time capsule of sorts.

I will never forget the first time I saved in the Ocean Beach safehouse and this was playing through the speaker. Or hearing I Ran during a police chase through Downtown.

The cultural references to the 80s with Scarface, Miami Vice etc was a nice touch. It may have flew through younger players' heads but older players I sure had appreciated the attention to detail.

And to think, this was originally intended to be an expansion pack for GTA III. Despite it's source material, Vice City aged quite well. It's one of my favorite GTAs of that era.

Scratch that, Vice City is my all time favorite sixth generation video game.

Oh yeah, the 80s were my teens/early 20s, I remember it well. The game just straight up nailed the atmosphere, right down to the "Little Haiti" neighborhood on the eastern island.

The only bad parts of the game are THAT FUCKING RACE and the RC helicopter blow up the building part.

The Driver? Absolutely. I don't understand how you want him as a driver but you have to beat HIM in a race for him to join. HE'S supposed to be the driver, not me. And you're in a arguably slower car with a two star wanted level.

The RC heli mission. Oh yes, I remember those days. I don't know why but it's not so bad now. Still better than Supply Lines.

Vice City is my favorite GTA, period, and my perverse dream is it gets a modern HD and gameplay overhaul so it controls more like GTAV and nothing else is touched.

You know that big stadium in Downtown Vice City? Between 20:00 and 00:00, you can do demo derby like activities inside.

I never knew that. Or even been Downtown too often.

The Hotring (12 lap race) is very slippery. And the drivers will crash into each other and you like crazy.

Dirtring (Sanchez obstacle course) is my least favorite. Precise platforming with loose controls. No thanks.

I must've completed that game at least four times (with all side-missions) and I never knew that was a thing. I mostly used downtown to get the house with the three garages and helipad.

I wish I could say that I'm gonna run off to complete that stadium along with every other side activity in the game but the reality is that I won't because the side activities in GTA have always been awful.

I haven’t gotten very far in Vice City. At what point does Crockett and Tubbs appear?

Disclaimer- I know they are in the game. Tubbs, actor even has a big role. But when does the game activate them?

All you have to do is hit a 3 stars wanted level and a Cheetah (Testarossa) will appear to chase you, no matter what part of the game you are, the same applies to Vice City Stories.

I didn't realize it at the time, but it was a random choice of the two cops who get out of the car if you wreck or get hemmed in and stopped, but it was a blonde white NPC model and a black or hispanic NPC model, both in trendy high-end suits of the era (sports coat and teeshirts). Sometimes it's two dark-skinned guys, sometimes a lone white guy, etc., but eventually you will have Crockett and Tubbs pull you over. Fun!

Little secret I learned about those VCPD Cheetahs: you can get them resprayed. Normally, you cannot respray police vehicles. But they can be resprayed and have police vehicle properties (sirens, Vigilante missions.) They make completing them much easier because of respray and speed.

I think if you're playing on PC and Xbox (and probably smartphone?) theres a free police cheetah on the second island in the backlot of the police station near the tool store on the south end. The crocket and Tubbs knock offs only appear when wanted though.

Can confirm, there is one at that police station. Yellow. That's how I finished Vigilante.

Also, in the mobile version, assets are cheaper than in the console version.

I know this is "speculation" at best about GTA VI, but this is the best "speculation" I've read about it to date. This touches on the "Project Americas" post from a Reddit post (now deleted.)

  • The next GTA title has been in development since 2012, but production didn't begin properly until 2015, but even then the team was focusing more on Red Dead Redemption 2.
  • It's another Rockstar Worldwide Production.
  • Codename is PROJECT AMERICAS.
  • Set in both Vice City and a new fictional location based on Rio de Janeiro.
  • Some linear missions take place in Liberty City, but it isn't an open world (think Ludendorff in GTA 5).
  • Game will balance realism and arcade and it won't be as realistic as Red Dead Redemption 2.
  • One playable protagonist: male, not female, despite supposed leaks.
  • Set in 1970s-1980s.
  • You play as an up and coming drug lord-wannabe named "Ricardo". Another key character called “Kacey” is a part of the narrative. You start off as a grunt doing runs as a cocaine smuggler from Vice City to the new large South American area before making connections with big time drug lords and making your way up. Multiple cities.
  • There will also be a giant prison which will play a part in the game.
  • Will feature a 'chapter' system similar to a Tarantino flick or Red Dead Redemption 2.
  • Weather is a heavy focus (hurricanes, floods, etc).
  • Buildings change over the eras, vehicles too. So older, rare classic cars get more expensive as time progresses etc. Full economy.
  • Heavily inspired by Netflix's Narcos.
  • They want to have an incredible 70s/80s soundtrack.
  • A younger Martin Madrazo will make an appearance as will his father who is a big drug lord at the time. You do some missions for the Madrazo family involving hits on other gangs.
  • Drug empire building is a mechanic similar to Vice City Stories but bigger. Think the GTA Online system and dial it up to 10.
  • You can only have weapons on your person. No arsenal in your back pocket, like Red Dead Redemption 2.
  • Your personal vehicle will be like your horse saddle in Red Dead Redemption 2. All your equipment is stored in the trunk. You also store your body armour in the car. If you wear it, it appears, no longer just an invisible thing.
  • There will be tons of subtitle reading. Think Max Payne 3 amounts, very immersive, like watching an episode of Narcos. Whenever you're in South America, don't expect to hear much English. Vice City however is a mix of everything, but mostly English.
  • Last bit of narrative info, it will discuss topics such as HIV and the immigration crisis of the time. A fictional version of Fidel Castro etc.
  • Next-gen only, not PS4 or Xbox One [aka PS5 and Xbox Series X]
  • GTA 6 is now their primary focus, alongside another title (which might be Bully 2).
  • Game is still in Pre-Alpha so names, locations, details could and probably will change.
  • No ETA on a release date.

If they do return to Vice City, this would expand from the 3D era Vice City without repeating it 1:1. The supposed new location in conjunction with Vice City would freshen up gameplay and locale.

Weather affecting the dynamic open world would be interesting to see in any open world. And next gen as well. Imagine doing a mission but you had to reschedule because of floods.

If there's no loading screen between jobs then I'm all for it but with that much distance between locales it will most likely be separate maps.

When thinking about this I realized I'm not really a rockstar fan anymore. I felt burned with V and I still haven't touched RDR2
