I was aware bugchasers were a thing and a lot of them were kinda ehhh on wanting to live out their fetish, but not wanting to get super sick or something, but I had no idea that people were going around spreading AIDS instead of like... public lice or some shit.
 
I've seen this sort of thing on dating sites. It's disturbing as fuck, but if people are stupid enough to actively search for AIDs, it's hard to feel any kind of pity for them when they realize they dun goofed and are either forced to be on drugs for the rest of their lives or succumb to complications.

The problem is the more instances of HIV that are out there, the more chance of it mutating into something much more virulent. Further, they endanger people like EMTs who might run into their blood and other fluids. Finally, the treatment for HIV is exorbitantly expensive even now, and it costs a lot to an already overstressed healthcare system.

So I don't really pity them for these self-inflicted problems, but the rest of society that has to pick up the slack these idiots cause.

I do kind of pity them, because I imagine it must be unpleasant to live with such a mental illness as to believe in this absurd nonsense.

I agree. This is the sort of self destructive behavior that poses danger to others, and it's really disgusting. It's hard not to feel anything but disgust and anger by it.
 
Thoose assholes are very well known in brazil,a lot of gay and hetero man do this shit
according to them,if everyone gets aids,then aids is not a taboo anymore.
 
I remember watching a documentary about the bug chaser sub culture in the gay community. They had interviews with people looking to catch and they all seemed like pathetic frat boys who finally realized they were gay and acted like they deserved to get AIDS. They also talked to a guy before and after a Russian roulette party: an orgy of carriers and those looking to catch where no one can be sure in the end who they contracted from or to for legal reasons. The guy was so happy when he got his positive test.
 
I am usually an advocate of the right of an adult to make a stupid decision. I don't think we should stop people from being morons. If you are actively trying to get AIDS, then you're clearly past the point of rational thought, and I question what can be done for you.
And here comes the big BUT:
What bothers me the most about this is not a community of bugcatchers. What bothers me is the fact that I don't trust people who are so clearly disturbed to avoid spreading it to unaware parties. These people are the same issue I have with the anti-vax people: You are a walking pathogen. If you want to ignore medical science and die, that's your call. You do not, however, get to endanger innocent people just because you're crazy.
If these people aren't on some kind of watchlist, they should be.
Edit: Also, not trying to A-log here, but we have a word for the practice of intentionally releasing dangerous biological agents. It's called bioterrorism.

Reminds me of those pox parties some of those anti-vaxxers put on to get their children infected "naturally" including even sending infected items through the mail to give to their kid (which is technically illegal) and brining their kids to a sick child's house for them to get it. Little do they know, they are risking those kids for shingles later down the road compared to just getting the shot.

Thank god im not the only one, I thought that "huh, there's a forum on breeders?" as it's a "derogatory term" against straight people by hardcore gays and lesbians, but it was a big mistake clicking this thread. (:_(

Oh man, why would you want to deliberately contract aids in the first place? I can see why a sociopath might take a certain joy in deliberately spreading it to other people, but why would you go out of your way to catch it? Aids is devastating to your health and your bank account, you really don't want that in your life.

Jeeze, this is like Ebolachan being played completely straight.
