I believe everything Law Twitter Tweets....

They are never wrong!

I feel so bad for Vic sometimes

Where are you seeing that? April 17 is when they conferred.
The certificate of conference was dated the 17th, but actually it said that they had conferred via email on the 13th.
If not, though, and if they were actually right, and Martinez was reading it and realized he screwed up and fixed it with a filing, they completely scored an own goal because of their autistic lawtwit addiction to the dunkerino.
Wouldn't the date they conferred pretty much confirm that they were on top of this before law twits started losing feathers over it?

then I suspect the timeline was they conferred with the other parties on the 13th, one of them likely pointed it out to lawtwitter so they can pretend to dunk when in reality it was already being sorted.

April 13th is when they conferred with the other parties for their previous extension. They cited the same April 13th conference in their latest request because they asked for an extension on the replies at that time, it just wasn't specified in the document.

No one noticed the omission until Pretend Lawyer Martin Bettik stumbled into a Law Twitter thread from the 19th days later not knowing about the extension that everybody else had already seen (or read about) by then.

A lot of people had questions about that paperwork. Nick thought it covered the replies to FUNimation and Jaime, my argument was that it specifically only says the reply to the cross-appeal (covered this before). I wouldn't be surprised if it was filed because Nick asked about it to figure it out and they decided to cover their asses.

So how do you guys think the response is going? With the extension and all
I have no expectations. I'm just here for the ride.

If it happens and it's good, then great! I'd await patiently the next sperging from the defense.

If it happens and it's bad, then Haha! I'll laugh about it with the other kiwis here.

If it gets pushed back, then I'll just do what I'm doing right now and wait. I'm in no hurry, and I can always just peek in the non-lawsuit thread to get a dose of stupid.

If it doesn't happen, then I'll also laugh with the kiwis.

Keep your options open, your wallet diverse and your implications nonexistent. Watching and having fun is enough for me.

PS: I want Justice to happen. If Vic's innocent, I want his name cleared and the defenders to pay reparation for their torts. But I'm not invested. It's not my cause. There'd be thousands of similar cases I'd have to support if I decided to shoulder anything in this one (from my own morality standards, not from any obligations).

Stand back, grab a pint, and wait for all of this to blow over.

I think so. But who knows with the current Corona issues? A lot of courts are pushing back deadlines as broad system policies. So they won’t always show up as filings.

Nothing about corona should prevent filing documents online. If you filed a motion to extend based on it they'd probably grant it but the briefing schedule as it is stands.

i’ve heard some municipalities just blanket auto extend all civil filing Deadlines out 20 30 or 60 days Just to reduce the load on the court clerks as they are trying to work from home or work around more restricted staff. I’m not sure if Tarant is one of those.

Probably not. Texas is apparently one of the more optimistic States in re-opening shit.

This isn't a municipality, it's a state appeals court.

Waiting for Doucette to call it an absolute win for the defendants, when the guy is no longer a practicing attorney.
Funny that T Greg has become the thing he hated about Nick. A streaming lawyer

The legal system once again exceeding my expectations.

I'm half expecting to see another extension to June 1st, a Monday.

Hopefully the Donkey Kong and Keemstar lawsuits will tide me over until I reincarnate in my next life and something substantial happens in the Vic suit.
