One of the many reasons I love reading Twitter slapfights is that every post from either side is full of veiled accusations, parting shots, and claims of victory. People are so obsessed with “winning” the argument that they structure every reply in such a way as to proclaim they‘ve “won” in the event of a non-response, and they make wild claims about each other’s beliefs to distract from each other’s original points and degrade each other to onlookers. It’s quite fascinating how preoccupied people are with hurting each other as much as they can, and it seems to be a relatively new thing on the internet (at least in terms of pervasiveness).
