While it's definitely possible, I doubt that since a lot of trans are such degenerate losers I doubt they have the skill to acquire anything significant that could be used for blackmail. I think it's more likely politicians are just shallow soulless opportunists who will go with anything that seems to be part of the zeitgeist of the time in order to get elected.
