It was okay. "Snarky," as you said, self-referential, a few laughs. Oddly, I thought his first book, the one he self-published, Agent to the Stars, was actually funnier.

The first three Old Man's War books were pretty good space opera, the fourth one was an absolutely painful Mary-Sue trip, with a main character probably modeled after his daughter. Just couldn't continue the series after that.

He also has some weird fetish about publicly humiliating himself every once in a while. Typical of the male feminist, woke white male with scraggly beard type, I guess.

The poor doggo. FWIW, he and Vox Day had a passive aggressive sperg war between two internet tough guys a few years back. Sadly, neither seems to talk about the other any more. Probably ancient history at this point.

So GW isn't just not really listening to the screeching harpies. They're wringing dry the wallets of anyone who puts their money where their mouth is when it comes to lack of female characters in 40K. It's greedy as fuck, but you gotta hand it to them: they know how to play this game.

40k? Unflattering armor? They gave the gun nuns boob plates and there are at least two independent, competing factions of battle strippers.

I was actually wrong there. I thought GW had released female head sprues themselves but they're all third-party.

Either way, I was talking about the female heads I had seen for Imperial Guard and Tau, two factions wearing fairly bulky chest armor. For those all you need is a head swap.

God damn that is some clunky ass writing. If I read that blurb on the back cover of a book there's no way I would buy it.

I got a Scalzi book a long time ago. There was virtue signalling within the first 5 pages. Never finished it, I found it rather boring.

I believe he posted photos of himself in a dress because some guy was insulting his manhood and his defense was he was just as much a man while wearing a dress as the guy attacking him.

Which, surprise surprise, got him attacked by troons furious that he would do something so transphobic. How is it transphobic? Shut up, bigot, they said it so it must be true. Maybe they think a man should only wear his wife's dress behind her back, not with her permission.

Of course, he apologised to them and vowed to 'do better'.

Funny you should bring that up because a tabletop dedicated discord server I'm in was once invaded by a dozen or so sjws all demanding that the Sisters of Battle must be the most OP faction in the game and that we were all misogynists for saying that's stupid. The server had to close invites because when they were finally banned for being nuisances they kept coming back with new accounts.

You could make a more logical argument like "They didn't have any horses/oxen/donkeys to pull carts, and it is easier to just make a backpack to carry things when you don't have a complex system of roads" since...yeah...every major culture basically existed around water since forever. Partly because it is great for transportation.

Why Europeans specifically anyway? Does...he think white people invented the wheel? Just defaults to saying white people invented all useful things? How racist. Every continent but the New World had a wheel.
