I believe I know what is happening with Lowtax and his tax hole. I don't think he owes the IRS; he does owe the Missouri Department of Revenue, which he likely refers to as "the IRS" as its a tax revenue collecting entity. He might owe money to the IRS too, but as the owed money didn't magically vanish out of his accounts overnight, I find that rather unlikely. But it is possible after getting bend over by the Missouri tax authority the IRS audited the shit out of him/his business and found other mistakes he made.

The following is informed speculation
Lowtax never paid taxes on SomethingAwful (or underpaid on taxes) because for a long time he didn't have to. But Missouri changed the law in 2013 to require taxes on businesses with a presence in the state to collect sales tax on "purchases".

Purchases are a little nebulous in SA's case, as SERVICES in Missouri - with few exceptions - are not taxed. But I guess the argument is that the way SA's acccounts and upgrades page works you are not paying for a service you are paying for a digital good, so its a sale not a service. SA Mart probably didn't help his case either.

Anyway, Lowtax didn't keep up with the tax law or figured it didn't apply to him. Its easy for small business owners who aren't pill-headed winos to have that happen to them, which is why most of them hire a competent accountant; Lowtax can't pay a coder a salary that lets him attract someone who isn't a complete scamming social misfit, so I doubt he's going to waste money on that.

Lee's Summit sales tax is pretty hefty at almost 8%. Add in compound interest and penalties, and I can see that hitting $100,000 after a few years. The Missouri 2013 changes also likely factored into Lowtax's decision to close the SA offices, as his tax write off now turned into a burden by making it very clear his internet business was based in MO.

Post-Wayfair vs South Dakota, Missouri is looking at further reform of their internet income laws, so look forward to Lowtax having learned no lessons and getting DOR-stomped again.

BPD doesn't last long with anyone who would be a considered a "good catch" by any metric because they will be scared off/pushed away by BPD doing what BPD does. So there is almost always a "secret" phase: Either one (or both) are cheating, her family wouldn't approve, or their first encounter is usually some trashy hook up. In any case, the BPD is fine keeping everything quiet because its all cool and fun and secretive to be hooking up on the sly and no one else knows. Except they do because BPD is fucking awful at keeping secrets.
So as she starts melting down about "a guy" to her friends, more and more pressure mounts to start moving to the next stage, where she wants to be public. With Bogan, we are here.
You will see more and more cringey behavior where she tries to mark her territory while still being "totally secret! Because we never SAID we were dating! We just happened to be at the same hotel!" before making the 'surprise' announcement they are fucking.

That stage and the next stage will start to bleed together where she'll start trying to make changes. They're public now, and so Lowtax will reflect on HER. And he has to make her look good!

Which then leads to the terminal phase, where she gets bored and starts blaming him.

I guess I technically forgot the final phase "Flip coin: Angry Booty call or bunnyboiler", but my guess is one way or another Lowtax will be dead before that stage becomes a concern.

You'd think this sort of behavior would be uncommon but it's not. your post is mostly hypothetical but it's disturbingly accurate to how these relationships go. I've never seen it specifically over immigration but plenty over general finances and withholding medical treatment. IE the husband knows the wife needs to see a doctor, and stretches that over years as they get weaker and weaker. physically and emotionally. it's all the same setup. truly godawful. in whatever case they know they'll lose this person, either by leaving them or dying, but they see losing control as a worse option so they just push it out of their mind. most of these husbands don't see themselves as doing what they're doing. they always see themselves as the victim. it's a combination of narcissistic ignorance and outright denial. guess this is something he and shmorky both have in common, targeting mentally vulnerable women and aggressively controlling their lives once they're financially anchored to him. also that "pregnant wife weeping at a restaurant" bit hits way too close to home jesus fuck.
