Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

Look at it from a more business-oriented perspective: A&H spawns a lot of trouble-making users, A&H floods the 'new threads' ticker so quickly that they had to be split into two categories or we'd drown out the Lolcow threads, and A&H has actually costed Null money in the past by significantly jamming into the site's search results priority due to the copy-and-pasting of news articles.

A&H is an off-topic board that deviates from the website's primary purpose and it has actively damaged the website in several ways in the past. Apart from some sort of nebulous "freedom of speech" concept there's no genuine incentive to keep this board alive if it's actively causing problems to the site as a whole.

I'm not in charge, I'm just a janitor. If they're wandering outside of A&H then there's not a whole lot that I can do about that, and if it's happening inside of A&H then odds are I'm not likely to see it if it isn't reported. I'm an autistic son of a bitch but I don't read every single thread that passes through here, or that's practically all I'd be able to do all day.

I'm pretty sure 75% of those exchanges are just normal run of the mill shitposting. At most I've seen them go on for a page and a half before they tire out and it really doesn't disrupt the discussion.

I meant in charge of A&H, but yeah I get that you can't do shit if it's not here. I'm just saying if we removed them from A&H they wouldn't go on to fuck around in other boards.

Wasn't that last bit due to his rule about not editorializing the thread topics?

To be clear, I'm saying that you can't really blame AnH itself when it was Null's rule change that tanked the SEO, and it apparently wasn't doing it before that change.

I guess why I'm so frustrated is that we sell this idea that this site is about being able to say what you want without repercussions and then this shit happens. Yeah the DA JOOS shit is annoying but punishing an entire board because of the actions of a few isn't right and even if you don't like this board you know exactly what I'm saying.

A&H is just the whipping boy and has been since I joined. I wasn't here for before, I don't know what happened, but it's been here for the 2+ years I've been here and it's a damn blast to hang out in. It's like, sorry we don't want to stroke our cocks all day in Deep Thoughts about how smart we are, we're just having fun with the absolute shit show that is modern life. If there's problem posters, ban them. Acting like we enable bad posters, like there's anything we could do about it is silly af, go look at the negrates on these posts that are the issue. What else are we supposed to do about it?

If A&H is costing null money, go ahead and nuke it. My only concerns are the following:
  • Nuking the place before banning the pol/tards seems pointless. They won't leave just by getting rid of A&H, but jump to other subs.
  • TBH this shit reminds me of the troons chimping out about FYAD on SA, recently. I don't want the same thing to happen here where this place gets closed and the same sour ass bitches start bugging null about the other off topic boards. Some people seem to act like off-topic shouldn't exist.
This is about it. I know that I only registered in December, but I have been lurking here since... 🤔

Not all A&H posters are bad posters. I read A&H pretty frequently and don't have a problem with 90% of the users posting there. We're specifically talking about a small margin of users that shit up A&H with the same dumb shit in every post, then take it out on the rest of the forum when they're bored or get b& from A&H for shitposting about de juden or whatever.

8 of Spades is being ridiculous because Null is obviously addressing that specific sect of A&H, but 8 of Spades is taking it personally, as if Null is saying every single poster on A&H is being punished for the actions of a few. Nobody is even being punished. It's a warning to that specific, small sect of A&H posters. Why is this so difficult to comprehend holy shit lol

we should start keeping track of this unprecedented concentration of users who do nothing but post about jewish crap, like a special marker or something so we can try and get to the root of this issue. hell, maybe we could open a new subforum specifically for them.
