Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

Stop arguing about race and jews in on-topic boards or I will start quarantining people and, potentially, shutter the politics board.

I warned people back in 2014 that I would not tolerate long form arguments about if Chris is a REAL transwomyn or not. I warned people that I would sooner burn out all tranny drama than have our on-topic areas of the site turn into arguments ad nauseum about gender identity.

The same warning is being extended now. This is not a site for race realism or globohomo or kike world order or whatever the fuck. Stop bringing political discussions into my god damn lolcow threads or I will retract my support for this board, which has faced staunch opposition from our veteran users and staff for years. It would have been easier to close than continue enabling and it was a huge contributing factor for the staff walkout in September. Don't make me regret it.

Articles and Happenings is an off-topic board. The bread and butter of Kiwifarms is lolcows and lolcow accessories. Bitching about how you're being persecuted on a website that you use to almost exclusively post in an off-topic subforum is stupid.

I think it's fine if there's an absolute quarantine on politics bullshit anywhere but here. However, issuing warnings or complaining about it is foolish at this point, because it never goes anywhere and it is the same stuff around and around. We're getting dangerously close to acting like ratings matter all over again.

Either shit (ban politics everywhere else/quarantine anyone who does it in lolcow threads/nuke the subforum/etc) or get off the pot. It's a soap opera.

I like how the more people try and struggle to rationalize preserving A&H, the more they help ensure that it'll eventually get nuked purely because the board is an annoying inconvenience that is not remotely part of this website's focus. A&H was always on borrowed time and its iterations have already been killed twice in the past. One day someone's going to Corbin Dallas on Null just a little too hard and we'll all wake up in the dumpster. That's just the nature of the board and it has nothing to do with the website ownership playing politics.

Left, Right, Moderate, apolitical, it doesn't matter in the end; If you become annoying, you get smashed, and we can be pretty annoying when we put our minds to it. As long as it stays internal to A&H and doesn't break containment then it's just shit-business as usual, but if users are bursting out into other threads and trying to turn them into political slap-fights, I can definitely see the concern.
