There's two major reasons why the Democrats/CNN/etc. want to deny Bernie the nomination, again.

  1. Because Bernie believes what he spouts, he's a threat to the Pelosi neoliberal establishment. Sure, Nancy doesn't mind throwing the occasional sop to the Progs as long as it doesn't cost her or her business backers anything real. But since Bernie actually is running on challenging the current neoliberal arrangement, the DNC can't afford to have him win as it would encourage others like AOC to continue their attempted take over of the party.

Millionaire socialists never believe what they spout. Dude has two homes while complaining about people having multiple homes, underpays staff while complaining about the minimum wage being too low, shouts about how the 1% arn't donating their money to help the medically needy while being in the 1% and not exactly donating massive funds to children's hospitals. He has a good image, he did some activist work when he was younger, but he is totally the far left version of someone who insists homosexuality sends you straight to hell while drilling holes in the men's room stalls. He isn't a threat to any system that he benefits from. At most he'd be a slightly more left Obama in practice.

I figure many Democrats want to see Bernie lose because they still figure he and/or his supporters are sexist because they disagreed with Hillary and now Warren. Bernie has honestly never completely shaken off that insanely stupid narrative around 'BernieBros', since to do so would require openly disagreeing with a fellow Democrat on a debate stage. It's a problem for the Democrats in general though that any Democrat that openly attacks another ends up doing poorly in the polls, because they start alienating some segment of the fragile construction that is their base, but the only way they can take down one of their opponents is to go on the attack.

Warren's tactic here is probably the most effective as it is just framing her as a victim of Bernie's sexism so he has to go out supporting the idea of a woman like Warren being president and he's too pathetic get into attack mode on the narrative.

When asked about what they said after the debate Sanders reportedly just said "about the weather", because he's so desperate to avoid open confrontation about someone lying about him, so his fans will like that he's not getting into the 'drama' while his detractors think he's being evasive.

Warren would probably do well to keep hitting at this angle since Bernie will sit around as a punching bag while the media talks more about her. What'll be interesting is seeing if she can segue this into a way to attack Biden for some imagined grievances or if she's just wanting to jockey for the VP position with him.

  2. If Bernie were at the top of the ticket, he would lose in near-McGovern levels of suck. One, Bernie struggles with black voters, which is an especially precarious position given that Trump has gained among them over the past three years. Second, despite whatever Stephen Colbert has, most Americans are still averse to socialism. Yes, Bernie is technically running on a "social democratic" platform. However, that's not how he presents it. Standing on the debate stage with Trump proudly proclaiming his socialist bona fides will turn off the independents that the Dems are already losing thanks to impeachment. Biden will likely lose too, but not by as wide a margin. They have to strangle the Bernie baby in the cradle before its too late.
And of course
3. Fear that he might actually somehow win. Not only putting your point 1 into overdrive, but proving all the "bernie-bros" correct, that he would have beaten Trump in 2016 and that the establishment bet on the completely wrong horse last time. That their "living nightmare" is all their fault and that, not only did they sell their souls and not get the reward but doing nothing and not trying to show everyone how much smarter they are was actually the right play.

I find it hilarious that the democrats don't have any cause to rally behind but "NOT THE OTHER GUY", this tactic has failed so many times that politicians should learn to give a message beyond just Alogging their opponents. Unless Trump has done Hitler-level or very atrocious things objectively then I can get it.

Bernie is probably doing it to get a bigger kick-back when he drops out and bends the knee.

The problem is that they are so far up on their high horses that they can't fathom that us unsightly peasants could consider Trump's actions to not be Hitler-level, despite him being a perfectly normal, if not fine leader.

Obviously, Bernie wouldn't have won in 2016, but I like to tell democrats that he would, mainly because it riles them up and divides them.

Metokur had a great bit where he showed footage of Bernie announcing his candidacy, and he was spot on. You could actually see his smile as he thinks about the amount of money his fucking paypigs will ship to him when he announced it; he also instantly set up his donations box too.

Man knows how to grift.

I love all the hot takes from the Biden wing saying that conservatives are trying to prop up Bernie by saying Warren is lying and the DNC is trying to screw him again. They're all like, 'This means they're really afraid of facing Biden!' I'm over here like, 'Nah, we just want maximum chaos. We'll steamroll anybody y'all got.'

This comment by Kevin McCarthy to stir the pot is just *chef's kiss*.

Don't forget his modest Audi R8 supercar. If it was a 2016 model, then they started at about $185,000. Top of the line models were about $210,000. Those are not adjusted for inflation.

We should tell bernie bros that impeachment is a democrat party conspiracy to steal another primary from bernie. It sounds just convincing enough to actually be true, and it doesn't take much for them to run with anything. Think about it, the democrats have to know they can't actually remove Trump from office, and why else would Pelosi delay things until a couple weeks before Iowa?
If that sounds plausible to you, imagine how it would sound to one of their confirmation bias infected npcs.

I was gonna ask why Pelosi's never run for president but then a look at Wikipedia tells me she's third in line for the job behind Trump and Pence and it all made sense. Then again, would not be shocked if she was parachuted in as the Democrat nominee and this whole impeachment lark is just a way to make her a hero figure to Democrat voters or she's laying the groundwork for a 2024 run cause she knows Trump has got 2020 in the bag.

Man, check out all the responses given to this Tweet, as most are saying the Republicans are ignorant of Trump's crimes.

I think there’s a typo in this. Carmine meant “an hero”.

And it might be doubful then they could get 2024 in the bag as well.
