Ok, i wanted to solidify my thoughts here since i don't own a diary and it will be a form of catharsis.
1. The gen 8 pokemon
They are pokemon, people will hate them, people will love them. Retards that dont play digimon, retards that dont play yokai watch will say it looks like a yokai. This shit happens literally every single gen and the argument is so fucking retarded to have at this point that its better to just pick the ones you do like and move on.
2. Gigantimaxing
I hate it, I hate it so much. the good ones would have been better as actual evos for the pokemon, the bad ones just looks like the laziest shit imaginable. good thing I wont have to worry about it for gen 10
3. Dex Cut
Everyone new it was coming, had to happen sooner or later. So instead of talking about if it *should* happen, we should talk about the *how* it should happen. To start of, 400 is just flat out too low. I think the true sweet spot is 60-70% at the start of every gen, and bump that up to 80-90% for the updated edition of the game. The unwritten rule must also be that pokemon that are left out in 1 game WILL show up in the next. the only pokemon getting cut from updated editions of the games should be legendary pokemon, and anything in the vein of legendary pokemon.
4. "The random bullshit mechanics"
I think they are necessary for pokemon to make the jump from "pokemon game" to a real jrpg.

The problem is that pokemon tries to do so much shit that it becomes muddled at this point, it tries to tell a fully featured story, be a beginners jrpg and a shitty esport at the same time. what happens most times is that all 3 clash and it becomes a meh mess of ideas
the story usually suffers from bloat or under development that takes a 3rd version to fix (or in the case of sun and moon drag on holding the players hand). Have tutorials that fuel into the other problem but also can cause new players to lose interest. And a meta game so fundamentally flawed that the official and fan (smogon) rules sets very so drastically that strategies cant carry over, though to be fair PvP battle was just a last minute addition in Red and Blue.
Pokemon feels like it is in this weird identity crisis as a genre and the fact that the series is now annual just makes the problem more pronounced and harder to fix as they already have to start work on the next games as the current pair wrap up.

Alright, after looking at the list and playing "Taps" for the loss of my MVP Azumarill, I've basically come up with a rough team of what I want, which of course is subject to change at any time. But thus far, based on what we got, this is what I'm thinking of going for just before I fight the Elite Four:

Any of the Dragons, I have no idea which at this point because they tend to come later into the game anyway.

gym leaders are currently being leaked through pokemon cards and apparently nintendo tried to copyright some of the twitter posts but stopped because lol too many.

90 dollars over there for the base game, 120 for all the new dlc, you need to pay the 5 dollar atlus tax to get your old dlc back or buy it again for another 60 bucks
It doesnt fix the pacing, the god awfull dungeons after the museum, it only adds 2 group scenes and 10 more minutes to the hawaii trip, fujos got cucked out of their husbando goro, 1 new month (which you only get to play 2 weeks, the rest is cutscene), new girl is more forced than marie and doesnt interact with the group and ends up being useless and fucking off, a wasted villain and it ends on a cliffhanger for the Scramble
And theres more problems but you get the idea.
And as for the death stranding thing, a lot of people were in denial about mgsV and choose to blame konami for the game being incomplete and PT

It never seemed like the Japanese fans had any understanding that a lot of pokemon would be cut. It's funny because when "Gotta catch em all" was brought up to Matsuda multiple times, he said he wasn't familiar with that tagline related to Pokemon and acted like it was never their intention to promote Pokemon like that. I was not expecting this level of meltdown, apparently people were really in full denial. It was estimated about half the old pokemon and that was modest, now that people see whats in the game and what's been cut..... well things are getting pretty ugly.
You had to realize after announcing the dex cut at E3 say they lauded the game as the most ambitious title ever. They focused most of their development time on graphics, animations, and content....... then people saw the previews. Well lets just go through it.
New and old pokemon literally having their model moved up and down as an animation for attacks.
All the old pokemon were clearly just copy/pasted from X/Y Sun/Moon.
Ocarina of Time trees.
Abysmally low draw distance
Pokemon popping in out of existence.
Matsuda stating proudly they spent 6 months developing tall grass.
Dynamax Pokemon having animations/effects clip consistently through their model.
Drip feed news/reveals for new content. They haven't done this in the history of Pokemon, 20 fucking years.
You had to realize that this game was gonna be an absolute shit show. I would not be surprised after the data mine is complete that this game is a straight rip of the Sun & Moon engine too. What's even weirder is people is expected all the Pokemon from Let's Go (because that would make sense) but only like 1/3 were included. Also Stoutland was cut (the UK fucking dog).
Numbers stuff because everything I've seen is wrong.
There are 86 new Pokemon and 314 returning Pokemon.
807-314=493 old Pokemon cut
(You don't factor in new Pokemon when calculating cut ratio)
314/807=0.389.... 1-0.389=0.611 0.611*100=61.1% old Pokemon cut

The trainer cards for the Gym Leaders and Rivals are leaking. Each has a common card and a 'rare' version with a story blurb on the back of each. This is a log of them.
Note: The leaker is playing Shield, and thus we do not have cards for two trainers. Pokemon Sword will have Bea instead of Alister, and Gordie (rock types) instead of Melony (Ice types.)

Some other interesting cuts are Salamence, Metagross, Skarmory, and Blaziken. The cuts suck. They really do, but I'm genuinely excited to see what kind of meta takes shape with this game for the competitive scene. Competition online had gotten really stale and tedious over the years with some of these pokemon and their megas in particular and it's going to be nice to have some online play that isn't littered with the most fundamentally broken pokemon in the game.

You say that, but the likes of Ferrothorn and Toxapex will still be around. The two most unbreakable walls in the game. And most of their biggest threats have been eliminated. If the new lot don't have what it takes to deal with them the competitive scene is going to be an utter nightmare.
