I am a bit late on this, but let me get something straight. They advertised a 24 hour live stream on Sword and Shield and all it was was a image of a forest with the new Ponyta making vague cameos until the very end?

SwSh has the most disappointing release to date, what a letdown.
Can't really say that just yet seeing as the game hasn't been released. The game is getting close to release and, despite the dexit, people are still showing some interest in the game thanks to the content they revealed.

Other pokemon (no new pokemon, mind you, just some that we'll most likely see in that area) did show up during the stream, but yeah, it was a 24 hour live stream with the only new content show being the Galarian Ponyta and Rapidash.

I mean that it's the worst pre-release build-up to Pokemon I've ever seen. People I talk to IRL aren't hyped for the game at all and it's starting to rub off on me, especially having the 24hr livestream and show just ONE new thing. I would have been excited for Galarian Ponyta (because it's so cute!) if they had more meat on the livestream's bones. It's like GF's caving under pressure and can't make good decisions RN.

I've already pre-ordered Shield but as of right now, I'm not hyped for it that I might forget to get it on day one, I'm more looking forward to Animal Crossing.

Grant it, I fell out of Pokemon long ago. The last one I fully played and sunk the most hours in was Black 2. Y and Moon had least hours. I didn't touch Moon until a year later and continued the 45 mins I started it. That was when Ultra was around the corner and felt exhausted from Vanilla Moon. I am sure my Pokemon in the bank have been deleted, but I am not really bothered by the Nat Dex fiasco. I honestly would kill for a new Pokemon MD game with Gen 7 and 8 mons as your avatar.

I don't think I will get SWSH, since I have a ton of other games to look fowards to, like the upcoming Digimon game and Monster Rancher's remake on the Switch.

I don't see a thread so I figure I'd post it here.

Yokai Watch is getting ported to Switch. Never played the games or watched the anime but it definitely looks Pokemon esque.

Do they have yukionna, yamauba, kappa, etc?

I'm surprised there is no crossover between the series

YKW had some crossovers with other IPS. They had one for FF14 a few years ago. I am not sure if Level 5 and Game Freak would cooperate, though. Not sure lol.

I played a couple YKW games, mainly the second one and the third, but I didn't like it. It's a bit too cutesy for my tastes. It plays more like SMT or Dragon Warrior/Quest Monsters, which the latter needs to return.

The only PokeClone I know that is mostly like Pokemon is Robopon.

Azure Dreams is more of a monster/dating sim with Mystery Dungeon aspects sprinkled in. Monster Rancher is a monster raising sim, I.E training it,taking it for battles and doing exploration quests. Monsters can get injured, sick and die. Monster Rancher 4 got rid of the deaths due to them being overly depressing.

One Mon game I wanna see return is Jade Cocoon.

Me neither. I was expecting a patch to add the missing Pokemon but I guess patches are for game-breaking glitches only, Lumious City save corruption, eg and whatever the updates are for, security for the GTS?

I spoke to one guy that said it the number is 600 or 700+, he'll get the game and any lower is a pass. I'm not a spaz who ABSOLUTELY MUST GET ALL OF THE POKEMON or even NEED ALL POKEMON PRESENT EVEN THOUGH I'M STICKING WITH MY MAIN TEAM. I want to catch all of the new Pokemon at least and if I can be bothered, transfer over a few Sun and Moon Pokemon so I can have them in a different environment. I suspect that the Sun, Moon and virtual console games are going to be in the national dex so a few of my favourite Pokemon are possibly being carried over. But that's my speculation.

Good point. They must've listened to the wrong criticisms when it came to Sun & Moon's hype to where they think the less that's revealed, the better. Like forgoing the Galarian forms, how many new Pokémon of the Galar PokéDex have we seen? Only 20 (I had to look this up and count, like half of them are super forgettable), and one of the Pokémon's reveal was the result of someone on their end boomering their website. And we have a month left before the games' release? The stupid controversy of Nessa's skin color was much more interesting than whatever they're promoting.

At this point, I'm just looking forward to seeing what Kate of Awkward Zombie will poke fun of with these games.

It really is sad how they're failing to keep even the rabid defenders' attention by now. First the "18 gyms" fuck up and then forcing their fans to watch a 24 hour stream of nothing just to get a glimpse of one new Pokemon, and not even one that's brand new and is yet another Kanto form.

I can see the argument that they want to backpedal and not show too much like they did last time but, they went way too hard in the opposite direction here. It's bad enough that these games are shrouded in a fog of (definitely deserved) controversy. So they aren't doing themselves any favors by showing as little as possible and rousing even more suspicion and concern in the process. I among several others have been increasingly questioning if they aren't showing much because they don't have much to show the pre-release cycle has gotten that atrocious.

I don’t think they “forced” anyone to watch the livestream. It was pretty clear what it was gonna be within the first five-ten minutes.

And I’m not bothered by them only showing a bit of the game so far. I don’t want the entire thing shown off for me.

But I guess that’s just coming from a casual fan of the series.

First the "18 gyms" fuck up
I feel like that's more the fault of the fanbase than Game Freak/The Pokemon Company. After all, it was only an misinterpretation of information that furthered into a rumor that the game was going to have 18 gyms (granted I suppose you could fault GF for not being entirely clear with it).

Yeah, blaming the company for internet rumors is a bit silly. Stick to their actual fuckups and not the Internet-created ones.

I'm cool with as little Pokemon info as possible. I spoiled myself on gens 5-7. I wanna get that "oh wow you turn into THAT" Feeling again, although that was more optimistic times before the internet.

As long as it's not gen 6 levels of disappointment with "oh only 73 new Pokemon and 13 megas"

In gen 5, I HATED Oshawott but Samurott is bloody awesome. If I didn't know what it looked like, I would have never chosen it. I want to know what I'll be stuck with for the rest of the game as I prefer starters by design. But with regular Pokemon, not too bothered about it, that would be more fun to see what they turn into. Just as long as I know how to evolve them or I'll get another Level 50 Clamperl scenario on my hands.

Thankfully, you have the wikis to look over a few days before the game comes out.

So where are they going to show off more "Mega" evolutions? I thought they were here to stay.

Did some kid with an English dictionary show up at GF, showed them the true definition of Mega, and they realized how stupid they were?

Or were they let down by the anime not giving Ash a single chance to use the concept despite having many Pokemon who would have loved doing so?
