There were some image leaks of upcoming “Black Series” figures, 8 in total with characters from Episode 9, “The Mandalorian”, and the upcoming “Jedi: Fallen Order” video game:

For Episode 9:

Supreme Leader Kylo Ren

64CD8003-2156-4561-8844-A846F0396D87.jpeg

Not too much to say, looks like the movie costume, which is basically the TLJ look with the repaired helmet. It comes with an ignited lightsaber and separate hilt and what looks to be a removable hood. The helmet seems a bit oversized to me, so it’s possible it is removable. You can also see the red welding lines on the helmet as well. I have to say, I do like Kylo Ren’s design, it’s just a shame it’s wasted on a pathetic character.

Rey & D-0

92A5704E-6105-40C9-9669-34634BB528A8.jpeg

Rey in her Episode 9 clothes, which are basically the same as her other outfits, pretty boring. Remember all the awesome and distinctive looks Luke had throughout the OT, leading up to the badass black uniform? Yeah, none of that for Rey.

The figure looks like it comes with her staff, blaster, the repaired Skywalker lightsaber, and a desk lamp... I mean the ‘lil cutesy droid buddy D-0. It looks like there is a backpack or something on the figure, I’m thinking the lamp droid fits in it so it can ride on The figures’ back.

Sith Trooper

B53D7779-FB97-4147-95B9-FC3474672352.jpeg

Looks to be the same as the SDCC figure, just in the standard packaging and with less accessories. Not too much to say, it’s a red angular stormtrooper. Buy 20 of them! I’m sure they will be marked down on clearance weeks after release.

First Order Stormtrooper

03849843-F2FD-4264-B770-562726E819E3.jpeg

Looks to be the same figure that’s been released from the past waves. There might be minor sculptural and articulation improvements, but its hard to tell from the image.

Comes with baton, shield and blaster pistol. Not sure why the FO troopers come with so much melee and close combat gear, seems like a standard blaster carbine and maybe a pistol would be adequate.

Cal Kestis

4737A20E-1E0B-4D4A-BD3D-921C21B9D456.jpeg

The player character from the Fallen Order game in one of the many outfits you will probably pay actual money to have the character wear in-game.

The figure looks like a punk ass little bitch and comes with what looks to be a lightsaber staff (don’t see another blue blade in the box), and a cutesy ‘lil buddy droid (seems to be a theme here) called BD-1, which I believe I read somewhere actually stands for Buddy Droid-1. I’d imagine the droid probably attaches to the figures’ back like in the game.

Second Sister Inquisitor

81B9BFBF-856B-4458-9CAD-EE7B84A57300.jpeg

A figure of what I believe is the main villain in the Fallen Order game. The design is fine, just an imperial type specialist helmet on what looks like a modified officer uniform.

I know this character is related to the inquisitor characters from the “Rebels” cartoon that I never watched because of the Inquisitor name and I recognized the retarded circle spinning double bladed lightsaber. Aside from the saber the figure comes with what looks like additional armor parts, probably shoulder armor for when the cape is removed.

The Mandalorian

892F8058-0665-4F67-B4FE-4DCA5517CFD2.jpeg

Figure based on the main character from the upcoming “The Mandalorian” series. I guess his name is just “The Mandalorian”. He really is a man with no name.

The figure looks accurate to the show, it’s basically Boba Fett except brown and nowhere as cool looking. You know, the black series has not yet produced a ROTJ version of Fett yet, and the ESB figure that has been made is years old and the sculpting really leaves a lot to be desired when compared to more recent offerings. Just saying. The figure comes with a blaster pistol and long rifle.

Offworld Jawa

AF422CE5-7835-4B1E-A0FE-6A19AFD87A4B.jpeg

Not sure what media this will appear in, but if I had to guess I’d say it is the Mandalorian so they can have Jawas and not be on Tatooine. Insert favorite Red Letter Media joke here.

This Jawa looks like it has super spooky red eyes and comes with what looks like two ion blasters, with one attatched to the figure by a cable that possibly attaches to some sort of canister or backpack that may or may not hold a ‘lil droid buddy based on a toaster with googley eyes glued on to it. But that’s just a guess.

I sure can’t wait to see figures of Finn in boring jacket, Poe in Nathan drake cosplay, old Lando in his yellow shirt and Zora Bless or whatever the hell her name is.

Why not just call it a Jawa and be done with it? Its like nu-Cosian shit in TFA. Just call it a Cosian. Anyway, judging from the color of its eyes, its definitely the same one from the Mandalorian trailer. Although I wouldn't be surprised if IX has some too for their shitty Burning Man festival scene which supposedly has Ithorians or the shitty nu-Ithorians with prolapsed vaginas on their foreheads and human mouths.

Also for those interested, here is the Mandalorian sneak peek from the expo back in April along with the scene that has nu-Jawas in it.

To its credit, it at least uses more familiar things in just 20 seconds of footage than the Disney films have in the last 5 years, but so many in just one short clip makes it feel rather forced and member berry-ish, like "we're so sorry we left all these things out for so long! Please forgive us! Member these things from ROTJ?! Of course you member!" One thing of note is that some of these alien costumes are recycled from the films, like the ugly and hairless orange Rodian "girl" from Solo and some aliens from TLJ... Seriously, why use those disgusting Canto Bight aliens?

The movies are awful, but I still really want to like the FO trooper design, but I can't because the helmets make me think of a smiling duck.

as for the vong, my problem was that it always reeked way too much of the usual shitty redemption-retcon bad writers do when they can't come up with good original stuff and try to get the fans on board by writing borderline fanfiction for pandering. "see, the emporer wasn't really bad, he had a reason for all he did because he knew the vong were coming!". ffs sometimes people are just "evil" because they want more power/money/whatever and go about it more ruthlessly, there doesn't always have to be an ulterior motive.
I'm pretty sure that's from an in-universe apologetic propoganda book for Palpatine and Thrawn, the old EU never outright said that was Palpatine's goal. Palpatine is even more evil in Dark Empire, didn't mention any of this shit to Luke to tide him over (of course NJO wasn't published yet) and was doing terrible shit even before the hints of the invasion so I'm pretty sure he was just a dick.

the writers decided the Vong should be spared instead of being completely nuked for all their bullshit and have them redeem themselves and go into self-imposed exile while taking all their amazing biotech with them which could've been used to fix their damn mess, but nooooo. Instead they walk away but come back 100 years later to actually fix their bullshit (which they should've done right from the get go) but they get sabotaged and their "help" makes things even worse..
Oh, I actually really like that part. The story is basically one giant journey to Jacen redeeming the Vong and bringing them into the Force, and Traitor is the tipping point where Jacen learns that they're really just fanatics trapped by their own beliefs. The New Republic/Galactic Alliance isn't that much different from the Empire if they genocide an entire race, especially after learning about the oppressed lower classes who had no say in the war, are they? The series was ultimately about finding your identity, and that's what the Vong needed to do at the end of the books.

The Black Series leaks are weak as hell, by the way. You could use the TFA version of Rey, the TLJ version of Kylo, and any version of the First Order trooper in place of buying this shit. Hasbro needs to dedicate more of these lines to EU figures, they'd probably sell really well with collectors, who are the only people who buy this shit anyways. They released Revan and Jaina and no one else. What really makes me laugh is that JJ really is saying fuck you to Rian, Kylo's first run is back to being mask only.

Ava DuVernay is knee deep in trying to fuck up 'New Gods'
She admitted to hate the science fiction genre. Why do they keep hiring her?

Not looking good, when you have Tom King co-writing it with her. <chuckle>
Oh god...

I think her Ep 9 clothes are near identical to those from TFA because of they're re-using the Leia/Rey scenes that were cut from TFA.

So, apparently a rumor is going around that Mara Jade and Thrawn are apparently likely to pop up in Madalorian? I'm skeptical, to say unto the least, but you guys are WAY more tuned into what the fuck is going on behind the scenes than me.

And also according to Hidalgo, the star energy inside the nu-Death Star is actually converted into supernatural "phantom energy" which travels through "sub-hyperspace" somehow and cause rips and tears in space-time which is why everyone in the galaxy could see the beams at the same time... somehow... because "unlike regular hyperspace which moves ACROSS the galaxy, sub-hyperspace can moves THROUGH the galaxy"... This bullshit's actually making me miss the fucking Vong... Just how...
I remember when they pulled out that explanation out of their ass after the movie released and they got a bunch of people on Twitter pointing out that they all forgot how the speed of light works.

We've had rumors about Mara Jade for ages, everyone claims she's going to appear in the next Star Wars product. Thrawn would make sense, but he's already canon so it's not like it's big news.

Personally, there's no point in having Mara show up in this doomed timeline. She was known for being a smuggler and dealing with unsavory types, yeah, but she's equally as known for becoming a Jedi and marrying Luke (for fuck's sake her entire character development revolves around Luke), and that's impossible at this point unless it turns out Luke is revived. Maybe they could have a new actor as Luke show up in the Mandalorian, but that would not only turn it into the "OT hero wank" they're claiming to be trying to avoid but also just depress everyone because you know it's doomed to failure.

More than likley any re-imagined Mara Jade will have nothing to do with Luke.

My guess they would build on the fact that she was a trained assasin for the empire. Then, tie her to another character for development. I would say the idea of the character is that she is a vague force user for the show....

I mean Mara Jade kinda sucks? So, I don't see the point either, other than a vague bone to fans....

I mean Mara Jade kinda sucks?
Considering her backstory, appearance, the ol' "she's actually the mirror to our protagonist and has been behind the scenes this entire time obsessing over him" shtick and the fact she was proto-Rey in the sense she got Anakin's lightsaber, you'd think she would suck. But no, she was actually an extremely well-rounded, dynamic and interesting character who never overstayed her welcome and consistently appeared in some of the best EU stories, from the Thrawn trilogy to Mysteries of the Sith.

Introducing Mara Jade without her links to Luke would be mind-boggling, and every other character they've reintroduced has been mostly the same as their EU counterpart. Her anger at Luke over Palpatine's death is an integral part to her character. It would be like having Thrawn not endeavor to combine his Chiss sensibilities and general equal opportunity attitude with Empire dogma in how absurd it would be.

More than likley any re-imagined Mara Jade will have nothing to do with Luke.

She'll be a proud disabled big beautiful woman of color subtly undermining Palpatine because he won't let her wear a space hijab, the ultimate symbol of female empowerment. She will have a secret lesbian lover that is a hideous alien cyborg with no head, of course, that only speaks in woke slogans through a voicebox.
In the retcon, she is the one responsible for Force-choking all those Admirals, because Darth Vader isn't actually able to do so because he's a weak man easily fooled by white supremacy into believing he can when it was really a stronk womyn all along.

I've heard about Thrawn but no Mara Jade. From what I understand, Filoni's involvement is limited but he and the shitty Kennedy Story Group are the only ones who have the final say on Thrawn regardless of what Zahn wants. Supposedly, Thrawn will be appearing in this since the show's true goal is to show the origins of the First Order, which were guided by maps Thrawn left behind according to Chuck Wendig, Zahn and Pablo Hidalgo. As for Mara Jade, I doubt it, and even if they do bring her back, she may as well not even be the same character since they can't tie her to Luke or use her old backstory. Not to mention she's a redhead and all redheads have to be replaced with POCs according to Hollywood mandate... And yes she did get replaced by a strong and independent POC daughter of a Mandalorian.

Fair enough, I concede to your point which I admit honestly does work for the characters despite my petty grievances. I just feel like the Vong should've at least been put through some kind of galactic community service, especially since their death toll numbered in the trillions. Their Shapers could've easily made a new vongforming process that could restore greenery on planets like Ithor, but instead the jedi/Republic doesn't ask the Vong to do this until over a century later. I could understand that maybe the reason why the writers didn't have them fix busted planets sooner was because it would lessen the impact of the tragedy, but restoring plant and non-sentient animal life wouldn't bring back the trillions of sentients they killed, but it would at least still leave the popular planets around for future storytellers to use. I was also bothered by how the Vong destroyed planets like Ithor and the Yavin system even though said planets were devoid of the technology and the impurities the Vong hated so. I mean the attacks on Coruscant and Nar Shadda (even though nuking Nar Shadda felt like a pretty bad move considering how popular the planet was) at least made sense as being heretical to their doctrine since they were completely machine worlds, but jungle planets devoid of any artificial constructs getting nuked into wastes of black slime feels off. But all in all, these are just minor nitpicks, but ones that still bother me to a degree.

The movies are awful, but I still really want to like the FO trooper design, but I can't because the helmets make me think of a smiling duck.
I went into a lot of detail about why I disliked the nu-helmets so much. Aside from the obvious duck face problem, there's flaws relating to its design and usage as a helmet. I'll try and find the post and link you to it when I do. But in the mean time, here's an edit.

That's because they are. They couldn't recreate the pointless hug so they had to give Rey her old clothes back.

@GeneralFriendliness I'm interested in the lightsaber ban and shit going on at GE if you'd like to share
Kay. Back in May/June when I first started talking about GE here, I mentioned that among the things that weren't allowed were SW-themed costumes (even ones from the park unless they're peasant clothes) and droids from the park's workshop which have features exclusive to the park but you can't use them within the park. What I was not aware of is that lightsabers were also part of that ban, including ones made in the park. You have to keep your lightsaber hidden or out of the way unless for posing and you're not allowed to engage in fake fights. Initially the ban on droids and lightsabers was not completely enforced in the park during the reservation period as the security was very lax and its still not completely enforced now. But when the first days of the official opening began after reservation, rules got stricter. Initially people would gather near the Falcon which had the widest area of movement in the park (as well as being the only familiar sight in it) and that's where most lightsaber fags gathered for fake duels or flashy poses. Eventually though, the security started laying down the law which is what inevitably caused the Falcon area, the previously most populated area in the park to die out for a long period, effectively leaving it empty despite once being filled with people. However when nu-troopers or employees weren't around or paying attention, people would run there and do their lightsaber shit, but that just made the area become even more monitored. This all comes to me from around July and early August. The current state of this is unknown to me (my contact in the park is currently... "unavailable"), but like with the costume ban at the WDL I assume they must've stopped caring when visitor numbers plummeted since the last pics I saw had people dueling again, but those may just be because guards aren't paying attention. Part of the ban isn't because people might get hurt, but because the lightsabers made in the park are actually very fragile and there have been numerous complaints in regards to their quality and durability, with some even falling to pieces after a little stress or refusing to work days after being made. Suffice it to say, this has probably been a very positive year for Saberforge and Ultra Sabers with their more affordable prices and higher quality blades.
1568396953596.jpeg

For $200 a saber, you'd think they'd at least have good durability or a decent paint job, but no.

Anyway here's a video from Clownfish with a special guest from WDW News that go into detail about the park's most recent decline.

So, it sounds like that when my family goes to Disneyland, the first thing we're going to hit is Smuggler's Run - namely because I told my dad about how it has the most advanced animatronic in the park (Hondo) and in trying to understand how the fuck Max Pass works, he's decided that we're going to hit GE first to skip the line.

I didn't bother mentioning that the lines for Smuggler's Run generally aren't long because - surprise - the land is kind of a failure, but I think there's enough time in the day to get everything done we want to. I'll take the opportunity to grab one of the souvinir grenade drinks since they're pretty cheap for Disney souvinirs. I'll also garuntee right now that since it's a group of four that my family is comprised of (unless one of my cousins comes along, but I doubt it), I'll be one of the pilots because I'm the best at video games (and not the gunner because that's the most worthless position of the three as you only mash the ONE BUTTON and hitting anything requires the pilots working together).

The lightsabers sounding like shit amuses me greatly, but the goddamn DROIDS aren't supposed to be out and about? Why the ever loving FUCK do you design a $100 build-a-toy with bluetooth to interact exclusively with the land, and then completely invalidate that selling point entirely? Are you just supposed to carry the damn thing on your back so it can make the beeps and whistle noises since that's all the droids do anyway?

Here's a question, are any of you over Star Wars as a whole or do you still love classic Star Wars?

A lot of the mystique around the franchise as a whole has been ruined, but I'll always love the original trilogy no matter what, they are still some of the coolest movies ever made.

And for all its faults it's so, so easy to just dismiss Disney Wars as a bunch of fan fiction bullshit that doesn't count, Star Wars for better and worse was always Lucas' baby, without him it's very, very easy to dismiss anything that didn't have his input.

Because I'm sure George at least privately agrees with us that Disney has dropped the ball.
