Ok, so the conspiracy theory that Abrams is fabricating leaks to market research on reddit and image boards what works well with audiences after TLJ blew up the franchise is my new favorite thing to come out of Disney Star Wars.

George still has control over the unedited version of the OT though and companies had to go to him for permission rather than Disney to show them at recent film festivals, meanwhile Disney is still unable to release said films in their bluray re-releases (with the most recent re-releases being critically panned). I mean, I think you're right, but its hard to deny that there's something really stupid about how all this is being managed. This seems a more likely explanation. Disney/Lucasfilm own the IP outright (it isn't a split situation like with Star Trek where the scenario might be plausible) so it makes no sense why there would be royalties or restrictions. That theory sounds like laughable armchair lawyering from YouTube clickbait.
Jake Lunt Davies? I posted a link to one of his social media accounts before along with the pic of said post where he tells hutts, rodians and other familiar faces to fuck off. Granted though, he does still design old aliens but for some reason his old alien designs keep getting rejected by the higher ups, which I guess may be due to the copyright issue. While it's fine if they don't want to use PT and OT alien races that doesn't mean they can't come up with memorable and interesting new character designs. So far they all have the same features: yak or tortoise-potato face, no nose, a lot of space between the eyes.

I don't know if it's true but I've also heard that the guy who makes those new designs has a huge ego and refuses to re-use the "old" alien races.
I heard Disney+ is already released in other countries. For comparison, here are pics showing all the nu-aliens from TFA, RO, TLJ and Solo.

Unlike past aliens, there is little color diversity as all expect 10 (not counting masked ones) are restricted to human skin tones. Oddly enough TFA Species #7 is actually a human being despite not looking anything like one and is referred to by Disney as a famous jedi on the jedi council during the Clone Wars despite never seeing this fucker.
Aside from that, almost all aliens are unpleasant to look at with a recurring design aesthetic that's supposed to inspire "comedy and revulsion" which is how Kennedy likes it. Some of these aliens are uglier or donut steal versions of pre-existing aliens in SW (and from outside SW, including Mass Effect...) and some have replaced other species completely, like the Frigosians (the yellow muppet fuckers) and Narquois replacing Jawas and Ugnaughts, Tognaths replacing Anomids (while Anomids are redesigned into something completely different), Dowutins replacing Gamorreans, Tarsunts replacing Bothans, Hassks replacing Wookiees, etc etc. I've said this before but Ottegans were actually Ithorians but given an uglier redesign but Pablo Hidalgo gave them a different name for some reason. Oddly enough the new design only shows up in the films, a novel and the lego games instead of outright replacing Ithorians.
TFA species #13 was supposedly based on an uncircumcised penis and the green TFA species #8 is a traveling "mutant" merchant and scientist called Dr. Whogivesafuck whose design and occupation is actually taken from the Wizard of Oz and he also met Han Solo at some point (seriously, almost every new character under Disney has met Han Solo or that Hondo pirate)...
I could go into more details about these freaks but I really ain't up for it right now and I'd rather just discuss the remaining bullshit in the Disney park for anyone that might still be interested... And if not I supposed I could into more details on these freaks and the behind the scenes shit about them...
That seems to be the case but only as a trial version in few parts of Europe, like those bloody Dutch.I heard Disney+ is already released in other countries. Is this true?
I forgot to mention the Nu-Cosian in the TFA alien list which is another example of Disney's weird management about old stuff. The Cosians were a species in pre-Disney, but for some reason they go and make a donut steal version of it and literally call it a Nu-Cosian. Which just makes the naming scheme of nu-Lucasfilm and nu-Aliens all the more fitting. Like seriously, why not just call it a Cosian? Although the original concept art just called it "animal/turkey trader".George still has control over the unedited version of the OT though and companies had to go to him for permission rather than Disney to show them at recent film festivals, meanwhile Disney is still unable to release said films in their bluray re-releases (with the most recent re-releases being critically panned). In other news, it seems that the real reason D&D's involvement with the supposed KOTOR film is so limited is because nu-Lucasfilm's brilliant Kennedy Story Group wants the film to be lead by a female POC director and actress...

Rumor: Star Wars Looking for Female POC Actress, Patty Jenkins and Ava DuVernay in Running to Direct Knights of the Old Republic Movie - Bounding Into Comics
A new rumor indicates Star Wars is looking for a female person of color to play the main protagonist in an upcoming film based on BioWare's Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) video game.boundingintocomics.com
Creeds 1 and 2 accomplished the following:
1) Evolved the story and passed the torch in a way that was believable and made sense in universe.
2) Didn't tell the existing fanbase to fuck off and gave us something we wanted to see.
3) Only used the past to enhance the present and not for cheap nostalgia. Bringing in Ivan Drago was perfect for Creed's character and they evolved Ivan into a more multi-layered character in the process.
4) Actually made good movies that they didn't have to defend with the social justice shield. Normally if you have to use progressivism as the main selling point of your movie, that is a red flag to me that the movie underneath isn't actually that good. But nope! The Creed movies rock and they didn't have to ram the "People of Color in lead roles!" deal down my throat in the process.
So yeah guys, follow the example of Creed! They did it better than most.
You can relax a bit, the source is Wegotthiscovered...
Although, I have no issues with Patty Jenkins getting a Star Wars movie.
This report seems even more unlikely because they have black female fantasy movie 'in the pipe'
Even so, if such a movie does exist and is indeed in the works, I honestly expect it to be a poorly conceived and super woke trash fire, while HK-47 gets replaced with a donut steal or is made into robot Deadpool much like how Chuck Wendig conceived him...You can relax a bit, the source is Wegotthiscovered...

Ava DuVernay is knee deep in trying to fuck up 'New Gods'It's almost certainly fake, but a KOTOR movie directed by Ava DuVernay would make me want to kill myself.
Ava DuVernay is knee deep in trying to fuck up 'New Gods'
It seems that movie is a make or break for her.
Not looking good, when you have Tom King co-writing it with her. <chuckle>
If that movie flops, she will be relegated to small indies or TV(if she is lucky).....
Nah, she still had 'Selma' cred. You can roll off a bomb, but two big ones back to back? You'd think A Wrinkle in Time flopping would have been the end of her genre career, but she's got that black and female privilege, so I can't imagine anyone in Hollywood telling her "no" no matter how many bombs she makes.
Her film adaptation of A Wrinkle in Time was a disaster as she completely disregard the Christan themes in favor of your run of the mill multicultural woke progressivism, all while missing the point of the story. Her take of New Gods and any SW movie will officially make her the black Michael Cimino. You'd think A Wrinkle in Time flopping would have been the end of her genre career, but she's got that black and female privilege, so I can't imagine anyone in Hollywood telling her "no" no matter how many bombs she makes.

please so, that trainwreck is just too entertaining.I could go into more details about these freaks but I really ain't up for it right now and I'd rather just discuss the remaining bullshit in the Disney park for anyone that might still be interested...
God I cannot take the First Order seriously. They are the definition of those old shitty EU factions that didn't belong in Star Wars and had bullshit woven to try to fix it, like the Empire Reborn in Crystal Star. Choose literally any of the good Imperial factions from the old EU, no wanted the Empire but ebuler and more powerful.So... I just found out that according to Pablo "Soy de Soya" Hidalgo, the nu-Death Star from TFA is not only a mobile planet but it was apparently the planet where the First Order started off and were living on when they arrived in the Unknown Regions and were taken in by Snoke before converting it into a weapon... somehow. And according to that Resistance cartoon, the First Order had been going around the galaxy testing the weapon on random systems and sucking up stars while Kylo Ren went around committing random genocide runs.
View attachment 934047View attachment 934055
And also according to Hidalgo, the star energy inside the nu-Death Star is actually converted into supernatural "phantom energy" which travels through "sub-hyperspace" somehow and cause rips and tears in space-time which is why everyone in the galaxy could see the beams at the same time... somehow... because "unlike regular hyperspace which MOVES through the galaxy, sub-hyperspace can traverse THROUGH the galaxy"... This bullshit's actually making me miss the fucking Vong... Just how...
I was usually pretty forgiving of a lot of things, but the Crystal Star and most especially the Vong are where I drew the line (although the Crystal Star didn't arouse any ire in me, just confusion so I did eventually just ignore it and stopped caring about it). I honestly disliked the Vong over how stupid the concept was since it was just Hellraiser/Drow/Dark Eldar with a WH40K motif that were forced into a setting they didn't fit into while they just went around fucking up accomplishments and beloved planets, but fans still defended them because "OH WOW! 40k in SW! Kill the xenos lol!" Now I actually miss those stupid fuckers since what they did almost feels like a drop in the ocean compared to Disney's shit. Hell, Disney even brings back the Vong but just renames them and makes them another generic enemy faction that's stupidly powerful for no real reason and don't even have their super organic tech anymore to give them an edge. That's how bad Disney has fucked up.I agree, every day that passes I appreciate what NJO was trying to do more and more.
Apparently everyone is a butchered bloodstain-face. The character is called Dryden Vos and he's covered in those natural scars, but his species is never formally given a name, he's just labeled near-human.please so, that trainwreck is just too entertaining.
and wtf does solo species #1 look like a human with blood on his face? does that mean the whole race looks like they just butchered someone or everybody is paul bettany?
I still find a ton of faults with them, but like I said I appreciate that they were trying to do something new with NJO, and that thing was "here's an enemy completely outside of the Force as the Jedi understand it" (although Lucas was on track to fuck up that part anyways). It also introduced new concepts that I think still fit in the Star Wars universe, like a living planet and becoming one with the Force without dying. Ultimately, though, the Vong really served as a vehicle to make Jacen the most interesting character in the post-Endor period. Benny Boy doesn't even come close, as even Jacen's much derided fall to becoming a Sith and mandated by higher ups death is still better than what we got with Han and Leia's new Jacen 2.0.Now I actually miss those stupid fuckers since what they did almost feels like a drop in the ocean compared to Disney's shit.
All the tentacled aliens and aliens with sea animals for heads (like blobfish and cuttlefish) are there because Kennedy has a tentacle and deep sea fetish according to commentary from Solo's writers which I've already talked about like 3 times in this thread, where she goes into her office and just looks up deep sea animals and tentacles on Google.
In other news, a rather interesting announcement. Jedi Outcast and Academy are getting ported to Nintendo Switch and PS4. You'd think Disney wouldn't want zoomers playing those games and having the gall to think "wait, Luke leading a new Jedi Academy is kinda cool".

I saw that too... Feels like a strange choice on nu-Lucasfilm's part, and from what I understand, EA has no control over the matter despite that game decisions have to be made in part by them. I mean, I love Jedi Outcast and Katarn is badass incarnate, but why suddenly bring this one back now as an HD port? And why only JO and JA but not the Dark Forces games? And why re-release games that show Luke as a success and doesn't star one of their woke or crappy protagonist? What's their game here?In other news, a rather interesting announcement. Don't get me wrong, I fully agree with you and the Vong played an interesting role and had some interesting ideas that I did like (living planet, organic tech, detailed philosophy, language and beliefs), I just disliked their execution. The idea was good on paper and the books were far better written than anything Disney has published, but their actions and flaws were just too much for me. It was even worse when the writers decided the Vong should be spared instead of being completely nuked for all their bullshit and have them redeem themselves and go into self-imposed exile while taking all their amazing biotech with them which could've been used to fix their damn mess, but nooooo. Instead they walk away but come back 100 years later to actually fix their bullshit (which they should've done right from the get go) but they get sabotaged and their "help" makes things even worse.. Also, with the way they were so active in Yavin, these fuckers should've honestly been rogue/banished Massassi or an even more mutated force-devoid offshoot of them that were practically bordering on sithspawn (basically mutants created by sith), then at least their presence wouldn't feel so out of place. But yes, I still agree, and despite these damn flaws, I can learn to live with them again, since it would be easy enough to fix their shit if they just gave a few retcons/fixes like Chee usually used to do to make something more tolerable or likeable (like with the Sun Crusher). The thing is though, I don't want the old EU/Legends to be recanonized by Disney or a new "fixed" canon without Disney shit taking its place, not because I don't like it or hate the things I didn't like too much, but because quite frankly I can see Disney fucking it up and woking it up as badly as they have their own canon. The recent attempts at story from TORtanic have me convinced that things wouldn't get better. I mean sure, that new Marvel comic set in old canon was probably one of only 2 or 3 SW Marvel comics I've enjoyed and found to be very well written (the others being Obi-Wan & Anakin mini series and 2 one shots), especially in how it surprisingly handled Jaxxon. But the only way a new replacement canon or a return to old canon would have any optimistic interest from me is if Disney sells off the IP to a company/person that actually gives a damn (which is unlikely) or completely cleans house at Lucasfilm while setting up a strict set of employee and creative guidelines and gives the comic rights back to Dark Horse (which is even more unlikely). So right now I'm just content to be shitposting, complaining and laughing here with all of you and watching Disney's bastardized incarnation of a thing I once loved dearly sink into the pits of Chaos.I still find a ton of faults with them, but like I said I appreciate that they were trying to do something new with NJO, and that thing was "here's an enemy completely outside of the Force as the Jedi understand it".
