Eh... This update isn't that surprising outside Galarian Weezing's Neutralizing Gas (which in and of itself isn't a new concept for Pokemon in general, negating Abilities has been a thing in the TCG since Fossil Muk's Toxic Gas Poke-Power) and the new battle items.

As far as the mechanical stuff is concerned Ranked Battles and certain online competitions giving you Championship Points/Worlds invites have been in the series since Gen 6, the reveal only showed that Ranked Battles have been simplified to an extent thanks to the new Pokeball ranking structure and announced Points-awarding online events ahead of release instead of announcing them with the tournament. Casual Battles allowing players to run tournaments is a nice addition but I feel it's more of a QoL feature instead of a proper one.

Oh, and in other news a #BringBackNationalDex demonstrator was supposedly kicked out of Worlds despite being his protesting being peaceful and receiving praise from both even-goers and event staff on his poster. In a somewhat surprising twist he's getting more support than people telling him he was in the wrong on Twitter, the only universal thing people on both sides seem to agree with is that they need collaborating evidence. My take on it is that it probably happened, TPCi gets REALLY lazy and will use Play! Pokemon volunteers as security instead of actually hiring a security force and some of the folks that volunteer for Play! Pokemon events can be MAJOR asskissers.

Well duh people are going to believe it, the guy used the hashtag #bringbacknationaldex, and claims he was kicked out for showing a poster around, of course he's gonna get support by the people who are backing the hashtag, cause as we've established, they'll blow up EVERY LITTLE THING that supposedly is negative involving the PKMc and claim it to be true and/or make out to be a lot worse than it actually is.

He didn't have evidence proving this even happened, and for some reason, after people started calling his bullshit, he starts to show pics. That kind of raises a red flag, like, why would you hold back on evidence from the start? WOuldn't you want to have all your cards on the table so people would actually believe you? This reeks of it being a lie or being really overblown.

And you'd think he'd have an actual witness, he claims he does, but didn't try to contact them or find them.

Really, the only 'evidence' he gave was two pictures of some rando

But that doesn't prove it happened.

Also, in that opening post, he claims that PKM made that tweet and took it down, giving him a crackpot tinfoil hat angle, when in reality the post was taken down for a typo, something HE admits to in the thread later on. https://twitter.com/uonlylivejuance/status/1163261929697304581

Oh, and by the way?

The staff wore red shirts:

And security wore black.

For all we know, this is just some rando that the guy got into a fight with. If you look at the guy's badge in the first picture, and compare it to the badge of other guy in the picture who's badge is there, they both have the same color at the bottom. And it says competitor.

HMMMM.

But nah dawg, just go ahead and believe this.

Oh, and by the way, if they were actual staff, they'd have to wear the CSC logo or pokemon branded shirts.

Honestly, at this point, people supporting this notion are just acting like feminists who 'listen and believe' anyone who cries harassment.

Hell, one guy asked for evidence that the person was indeed a security guard, and got told that he didn't know how evidence worked. This was the time when the second photo I posted here (it was the first photo the guy provided as proof): When there's no evidence of the guy being a part of staff.

But hey, go ahead and listen and believe. Not like that's a toxic mindset.

Even then... Boo hoo, he was asked to leave. It's not like the guy got the shit beaten out of him, it's not even a big deal, and considering how big of a deal he was making it out to be on twitter, even if it happened - How do we know it was because of that reason? How do we know it even happened that way?

We literally only have his word at this point.

Oh, and one more thing... The guy claims that he was gonna take a picture of the staff, but only after he put his poster in the car. Why? with how easy it is to take a pic today with your phone, why would you wait when the staff can easily walk away? They aren't going to wait for you to get back.

Again, it reeks of bullshit.

Credit where it is due, this is the best towns have looked in the main series. The buildings actually feel scaled correctly and spaced apart from each other realistically and it overall looks nice. Granted this sort of thing is what other RPGs have been doing for decades and the NPCs are still all just standing around like statues but, eh... I'll still give them props here for once instead of going on another sperging bitch fest.

I mean, what recent RPGs are we comparing it to, if you don't mind me asking? Just so I can get a basic idea, ya know.

I was thinking the earlier 3D Final Fantasies (VII onward). While debatable due to the graphics at the time not lending to a fully 3D overworld, the buildings and cities were still more to scale compared to Pokemon's tiny hut-sized things and towns consisting of a couple buildings up until gen VI (and even then this is the first time the buildings themselves aren't overly blocky).

I mean, if we're talking about FF7, those were pre-rendered backgrounds.

Also, it was Gen 5 that gave us much better locations

That's what I meant by "not fully 3D" but the proper term was escaping me. Wanted to say "paintings" but knew that wasn't it.

And yes, Unova, forgot to mention that. Castelia City really was in a class of its own.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not disagreeing with you on the graphics, but most of the time - they couldn't make cities due to the constraints of what they had to work with.

So Galarian Weezing's ability is another Mold Breaker....
A stronger, more general mold breaker actually. Mold breaker only prevents the use of abilities that help or hinder pokemon like: intemidate, sand cloak, etc. While weezing's negates ALL abilities.

As the graphics look subpar it kind of fits the toony aspect Pokemon is rather than making every fur, scale, etc texture look realistic like the Detective Pikachu movie.

I been out of the Pokemon loop since Gen 5 and I only played bits of Gen 7 before being burnt out from it when Ultra Sun/Moon came out.

One user told Juan he was in the wrong and one of Juan's sycophants had the audacity to say this
shouldn't have been wearing that dress.png

He's either comparing it to rape or someone enforcing a dress code. I think he meant the latter one. Either way, it's a pretty stupid comparison.
That might be the case and this is not just a one off incident with this particular guy either as he is actually one of the more vocal ones in the BBND movement

I've been spamming this on /vp/ and I'm going to say it here as well. I have bought, and still have, almost every single pokemon game through my lifetime. But due to Masuda's kikefuckery, I will not be buying this one or any subsequent games.

I’ll probably end up picking it up regardless of the national dex thing. I never made it a thing to catch absolutely everything, and the competitive nature aspect was never any fun to me. So I’m happy with new Pokémon, new region forms, and it being on the Switch. That’s enough for me as a casual fan.

Good for you I guess?

I've seen this national dex being cut thing as inevitable with the fact there are over 800 currently. I forgot the exact number and since the game has to be released in time for the anime and other crap, delaying the game is not an option.

I can understand why some are upset but getting insanely mad over it doesn't help anyone

Thought I'd give this guy a mention.

This guy's reasoning is that since children will buy their games and apparently have no self-control or concept of money's value, that's game freak (or the pokemon company) exploiting their customers. Here's them trying to explain it to one of the replyers:
