That's just it, Pokemon is too big for its own good, especially ever since Go put it back to the level of relevance it enjoyed back in the 90's (just a month ago I saw Pokemon-branded food in a grocery store, something that I haven't seen in quite some time).

So while yes, voting with our wallets is the surest way to get our point across instead of the autistic screeching, that unfortunately is all but impossible too. For every 1 person sticking to their guns and planning on boycotting the game, there's another 1,000 who are gonna break down and buy it anyway (every single vapid Poketuber regardless of alignment on this shitshow is gonna buy both copies day 1) or are the uneducated masses who are completely unaware of the controversy going on in the first place.

We're already seeing this happen as we speak with SWSH being the second most pre-ordered game right after E3 ended.
 
Masuda just put out a statement (a) on the official site concerning the whole National Dex issue:

Yep, there it is. "Just buy our future games you sheeple lol." This franchise is dead to me. My username couldn't be more prophetic it seems.

To give you some idea of how fucked up this is, Glameow is only catchable in Peal, and disregarding long dead places like the Dream World, you can't get it again until ORAS. In other words if you aren't one of the 151 or otherwise popular, there's a good chance you're utterly fucked out of appearing in another mainline Pokemon game again for a good decade or more. Fuck you Masuda, just fuck you.
 
I honestly am going to skip out on this game. The only reason I'll really buy it is if it turns out to actually be good and not a dumpster fire.


Masuda should be fired from Game Freak at this rate cause he is making so many bad decisions.
 
The really sick thing about all this is, what is even the point of Home now? They sold it as this new version of Bank to put your mons in, but the only way forward out of it is SWSH, where most of your mons can't go. So you're essentially paying for a place where a good chunk of your collection is trapped in some fucked up purgatory for who knows how long.

That's the Analytics icon next to the likes, that means that the screenshot of the tweet comes from the owner of the account, that one is from Joe, so yes, he's actively shilling on /vp/.

On the Masuda statement, he just pulled a Bethesda Duffel Bag response, you know, the "we aren't planning to do anything about it" response. I fucking called it when I said he's Japan's Todd Howard.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, get a 3ds powersaves and clone all your boxes, send the clones to home if you're willing to go that far. I imagine home is a paid service and i probably won't use it... until they discontinue bank, because you know they will.

IMO, I'm very conflicted, I love pokemon and I don't want to give up on the series but I just don't know anymore. I've pre-ordered as far back as Emerald, well in advance just based off which legendary or version exclusives I liked more (I'm very adamant about getting MY game of choice) , gone to Moon and Ultra Moon midnight releases where I had a great time. I was so hyped to pick my game based off the legendary and sticking my bf with the other one but the second I saw what they looked like I messaged him and told him it literally did not matter any more, they were just identical furrybait garbage and he could have his pick and I'd get the other one. That has changed after the dexit to me not really wanting it at all. Honestly though, I'm definitely not pre-ordering it, I'm not going to the midnight release, and I'm pretty sure that unless they decide to bring all the pokemon over or do something so insanely impressive that it collectively blows everyone's mind- I won't touch it unless I can get it second hand, I like to think I'm strong willed enough to stand by that but we shall see.

As far as Mobile games are concerned... Pokemon Go was a hit because that was it's own thing, the new pokemasters might be a hit because it follows the manga, but like... Pokemon go was unique, pokemon catching in your neighborhood, not even the Harry Potter Wizards unite thing did anywhere near pokemon go level shit in it's first weekend. That was lightning in a bottle and the second they run out of pokemon for Go they're fucked. Unless it's like a main game for mobile I don't see them having another success like go, and even then that's iffy at best. Sure it can be a money maker but people are pissy at free to plays as it is, having all pokemon games like that would enrage more people than dexit.

In the end the fans lose IG

Notice how just like everything else, Go is a one way street? And that game is undoubtedly close to gen V by now, so there's a good number of mons people have there that are non-native to Galar.

In other words, GF is even screwing over the very crowd they've been dropping everything to pander to. That's how ass-backwards their entire modus operandi has become.

My earlier sperging aside, I'd never go that far. And now that I've cleared my head and looked at this in more detail, something's off. Why is Masuda the one giving out the "Sorry, nothing" message anyway? Heck he's not even a director anymore, he's stepped down from that position after the Let's Go games. Guess GF just needed a fall man and Masuda, as one of the "faces" of the franchise, was the perfect candidate.

This. I'm not blaming Masada for disaster. It's not his fault.

The problem is that Pokemon is such a huge franchise that the games have to keep up with the anime, and the TCG. That makes it borderline impossible for the games to be delayed. If they're delayed, everything else has to be delayed. On top of all that, the revelation that GF employees basically have the programming skills of Yanderedev make it even more apparent that the franchise as a whole is in dire need of help.

Oh, undoubtedly. Happens every time unfortunately. Hence my musings as to why it's Masuda in particular who's got the target painted on his back considering his relative non-involvement all things considered.
