It would have more of an effect on the electoral college than anything else. Assuming people answered honestly it would shift some of the electors away from Texas, California, and Arizona to other states.
 
It will also bleed into state elections, helping in the "Long March" that many Commie faggots are absolutely convinced has reached the end-stage since that lazy shiftless Communist grifter Bernie was actually considered to be a POTUS candidate.

The last thing CA, OR, WA, NY, and other governments is the fence jumping wetbacks, the work visa overstaying Pajeets, and Sub-Sarahan Kangs to be taken off the population roles and deflate the voting power of blue districts.

Mostly California, though, which is what the Dems are terrified of. They'd lose something like eight electoral votes. California is terrified of this because it would diminish their usefulness to the DNC and thus the number of kickbacks and handouts they get, the DNC is also terrified of this because it makes every election to come after much harder for them since it wouldn't be a virtually guaranteed large number of EC votes for them.

They don't really give a shit that plenty of red states would lose EC votes too, because they'd still be losing less overall. That one question has the chance to completely invalidate everything California's done to turn itself into an all-expenses-paid consequence-free playland for illegals in the name of swelling its population and thus its EC votes.

I don't understand how legal citizens, working class, middle class, economically vulnerable people can be ok with this.

I get why the politicians and corporates don't care. They're either narcissists who care more about themselves than the country or have divested themselves from the country. The average CNN consuming dipshit? Their fate is tied to the country. How can they not be concerned by this?

Is the census even personalized like that? I don't think it's even mandatory. I certainly don't recall ever having been threatened with fines or jailtime for failing to complete it in a timely manner. Do you even put your name or address on the thing, or just your district?

I know this is going to be an unpopular opinion here but many white California citizens haven't suffered to the point they're on their last dime and have no where to turn to for help. As such they're easily fooled into believing that they're "on the right side of history" in supporting "immigrant rights" rather then seeing illegals taking over their jobs for less pay.

Because the media outlets they get their news from are very, very careful to never actually say that's why they're opposing the question being added.

They always make very vague assertions of its racist intent, similarly vague implications that it could be used to round up poor, innocent people and send them to the Trump Death Camps, and now you've got Senator Nuke saying it's "erasing their existence". They all say over and over that the citizenship question is veddy veddy bad, and they say it loudly and stridently, but they never, ever, ever say precisely why. People who trust these outlets because they don't know any better hear all the rage and they think, well, there wouldn't be so much smoke if there wasn't any fire, that question must be a Bad Thing.

The leftist voters who do understand that their rights are being undermined and their value as citizens discarded are generally going to be perfectly fine with it, for the same reason they're perfectly fine with the idea of tyranny of the majority via removing the electoral college despite their constant raging about the oppression of the minority: because they're partisan hacks and it helps their side. They have no principle beyond what will allow the Democrats to win, whatever helps the Democrats win, they'll work backwards from there to justify as the right and moral thing to do.

I'm not convinced NPCs aren't everywhere. There's a ton of sheep out there voting for feel good emotional politicians that pander to their senses of righteous indignation.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Presidents and other world leaders and political figures who use Twitter to threaten or abuse others could find their tweets slapped with warning labels.

The new policy, announced by the company on Thursday, comes amid complaints from activists and others that President Donald Trump has gotten a free pass from Twitter to attack his enemies in ways they say could lead to violence.

From now on, tweets that Twitter deems to involve matters of public interest, but which violate the service's rules, will be obscured by a warning explaining the violation and Twitter's reasons for publishing it anyway. Users will have to tap through the warning to see the underlying message.


Twitter said the policy applies to all government officials, candidates and similar public figures with more than 100,000 followers.

The new stance could fuel additional Trumpian ire toward social media. The president routinely complains, without evidence, that social media sites are biased against him and other conservatives.

Twitter's rules prohibit threatening violence against a person or group, engaging in "targeted harassment of someone," or inciting others to do so, such as wishing a person is harmed. It prohibits hate speech against a group based on race, ethnicity, gender or other categories, and disallows the promoting of terrorism.

The company has long exempted public figures from many of those rules, contending that publishing controversial tweets from politicians encourages discussion and helps hold leaders accountable .

But there have been longstanding calls to remove Trump from the service for what activists and others have said is abusive and threatening behavior.

Some activists complained this week after the president posted that an attack by Iran "will be met with great and overwhelming force. In some areas, overwhelming will mean obliteration." Trump has also tweeted a video of himself beating up a man with a CNN logo replacing his head and retweeted seemingly faked, inflammatory anti-Muslim videos.

Other politicians could likewise run afoul of the new policy.

In 2018, French prosecutors filed preliminary chargesagainst far-right French politician Marine Le Pen for tweeting brutal images of Islamic State violence. Twtter rules prohibit material "that is excessively gory."

And in March, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro stirred outrage by sharing a video on Twitter that showed a man urinating on the head of another man during a Carnival party.


Insults and mockery fall into a gray area. Calling someone a "lowlife, a "dog" or a "stone cold LOSER," as Trump has done, may not in itself be a violation. But Twitter does ban "targeted harassment," and repeated insults against someone might count.

Twitter's new policy doesn't apply to past tweets.

Twitter said it is still possible for a government official or other figure to tweet something so egregious that it warrants removal. A direct threat of violence against an individual, for instance, would qualify.

The company said warning-label decisions will be made by a group that includes members of its trust and safety, legal and public policy teams, as well as employees in the regions where particular tweets originate.

When a tweet gets such a notice placed on it, Twitter said it will not appear in the site's "safe search" mode, notifications tab, the explore section and other places Twitter promotes or highlights tweets.

Yeah, I'm sure that targeting the POTUS, a man already (in)famous for speaking his mind with censorship restrictions will absolutely end well and not backfire in any way. Also, people do know that if they don't want to see Trump's tweets they could not follow him, or even, gasp, not go on Twitter in the first place, right?
