The cases of women (or men) who actually are prostitutes due to a calling are very rare. Most people do so because they either ran out of options and are desperate or because they're forced. The glorification of prostitution is a very dangerous thing due to everything it involves. I'm not saying that there aren't cases of people who are quite happy with this, but again, there aren't very common.
I guess the main problem is that, like many other things, it gets politicized by feminists: "my body! my choice!", "don't slut-shame me", or "don't judge me!". Most women defending this are often camwhores or egirls who aren't remotely sex workers but are taking the term because they believe it's a statement of freedom. If shoe actually believes is just another job, then she should try it for a couple of months.
