I am starting to watch through Super now (started right where the first film left off) and man, after seven episodes it isn't very good. Does it stop sucking after Freiza? Does the art get less blatantly stiff awful.

It’s bad all the way through, the only arc worth watching is the tournament arc at the end of the series.

Most of the arcs have nothing to do with that arc so you wouldn’t be missing much if you just skipped to it.

Only if you're a sucker for characters just having fun and acting human with each other (albeit weird socially-awkward humans for being aliens and shit). Vegeta spending time with his family is good for a chuckle at the very least, and you get to see Bra's birth. Still haven't watched more past episode 55 because I'm a lazy fuck, but I didn't mind what I was watching at the very least.

Animation doesn't get any better, though, least not until the very end from what I can tell.

The Goku Black arc is probably the best thing about it. It has the best villain, plot, and the animation is much better. It still has a fuck ton of problems, but I did remember enjoying it. I'd say just watch that part, and then stop.

Toei, being in typical Toei fashion, pinched every penny they could with the animation until they could make actual money off of it by flashing the good bits on animation in commercials and shit. They did it with One Piece, they're doing it with Dragon Ball Super. The art itself does get more consistent and less terrible, but it doesn't evolve past anything particularly decent.

Also the first few arcs are a notorious slog. My recommendation is have someone you know who's seen it time-table the important episodes a la most of what people do with Naruto and One Piece. The actual story bits of Super range from mildly interesting to actually pretty fun, but it doesn't hit some of the highs of it's previous series' and contests with some of their lows as well. (Barring pretty much all of GT.)

Oh, I get the pun now lol. I was thinking "Wait, is that really the day they married on?" but I get it lol. Cute.

Since you shared fan-art, I'll go ahead and share my favorite Goku/ChiChi fanfiction. It's M-rated, though lmao, but it's so Goku to compare the honeymoon to honey melons that I just wanted to share.

Apparently 5/9 is also National Goku Day, a lot of people are anticipating some DB related reveals from TOEI for that date, hopefully something like announcing the continuation of DBS in that delicious new Shintani design.

This is just for some pool for which form of Goku from the Broly movie people like the most, but it's a good indicator of how good a new, Shintani-powered series could look:

We continue Son Week with Gohan Day!

Gohan is my favorite character. He's such a sweetheart and a dork and I love him for it!

So, we know that SSB Gogeta and Broly (DBS) are DLC for FighterZ, but why are they delayed?
It's Weeb Wars, isn't it?

I wanna say it was because they were working on the previous DLC character first (when they were announced in Jiren and Videl's trailer they didn't even show their own FighterZ character art, and they're still sticking with footage from the Broly movie, but who knows. One thing's for sure, there's a huge chance the final DLC character to be announced will be Janemba. While I was hoping for Master Roshi, Janemba was my second pick, so I'm pretty happy with that.

Kinda miffed Goku day came and went and we got no announcement of DBS continuing. Would be a shame if TOEI let the franchise sleep again now that we got a great new art direction thanks to Shintani. At least we got a neat FighterZ eyecatcher featuring Kid Goku:

While I would've preferred an OG DB Kid Goku emulating Toriyama's old style and many others wanted SS4 Goku to be more than a Level 3 super attack, overall GT Kid Goku looks great and his movesent is tons of fun. I especially love his Kamehameha fake-out air dashes, and unlike Base Goku, he can cancel out into movement and assists directly after his Spirit Bomb hits, making it a lot more versatile.

His victory animation also gets me right in the feels. I might not be the biggest fan of GT, but the final episode is kind of beautiful.

Janemba is the next DLC character for FighterZ. It apparently leaked online.
Yeah, some announcer was like "as a special gift for Goku Day, FighterZ is giving special skins for Goku AND Janemba." Oopsies were made. I'm pretty happy with it, since he was my no.2 wish for DLC character right after Muten Roshi. I wish we'd get a season 3, it'd be a shame if Bandai\Arc would let the game die when there are still so many character that'd be dope to have. Like, I'm not asking for every generic OVA henchman to be present, but at the very least I'd like to see character like Demon King Piccolo, Tao Bai Bai, Garlic Jr., Kefla, Toppo, Paikuhan, Tapion or Dabura.
