I’ll be honest, if done right, Capital Marvel killing Thanos wouldn’t be a issue. But personally, I prefer Iron Man delivering the final blow to Thanos would be sweeter because his first movie kicked off the arc that’s about to end in April.
I'm really hoping it's Gamora and Nebula who deliver the final blow, personally. For all the hell he's put them through, it'd feel cathartic.

Since there are so many characters that people hope will deal the killing blow, maybe they should go for this conclusion:

Tony should kill Thanos in a kamikaze attack. It would be a good end for the character and RDJ.

Nah, she does not deserve to kill Thanos. That is so unrewarding from a storytelling standpoint.

I would take ANYONE over her to deliver the final blow. All of the characters who survived Infinity War were put through hell consistently throughout the movie. Captain Marvel didn't go through jack shit.

Rocket Raccoon? Nebula? Black Widow? Hawkeye (as it's heavily implied that he lost his entire family in the Snapture)? Even these characters are far more deserving than Captain Marvel.

Though, it would be most fitting for Iron Man and/or Cap to deliver the final blow. Of course, SJWs would just say that's my internalized misogyny talking (and not the part of me that wants competent storytelling).

Maybe they can do a Jon Snow and just have everyone take turns stabbing him until he collapses in a pool of blood that forms the shape of a glove.

Would definitely be a more cathartic ending than having some newcomer from a bad movie swoop in and beat Thanos up. lol.

Would it have ever been okay for Rey to have appeared in the last 30 minutes of RotJ and killed Vader and Palpatine?

No? Well it doesn't work here either. Not that I think it will happen, as you would have to be all kinds of stupid to make a multi-film arc spanning over a decade just to let the last shoehorned character take the prize for themselves.

The article said "even more than Batman vs Superman" so the answer would be no.
Looking at other big blockbuster movies low 60% to mid 70% seem pretty standard for Monday box office drops. A number of successful Harry Potter films had worse than this. Same with Hunger Games and some other crap I haven't watched.

EDIT: Looking into it this is unusually bad for MCU drop offs but still well within tolerances for a franchise milking.

Most Marvel films come out close to or during Summer when Monday drops are usually not that steep. Doctor Strange (released in November) and The Winter Soldier (released in April) both had 70% drops. Black Panther had a very low drop on its first Monday, but that's because it was a holiday. Likewise for Batman v Superman, it was not only released on Easter weekend in late March (meaning there was some holiday spillover), but also benefited from a lot of schools having Spring Break around that time. It had a very good first Monday, but that ultimately didn't mean much for its final gross, which couldn't even double its opening weekend. That's bad even for capeshit. In other words, it's too soon to say where this will land.

I want him to die of natural causes, of old age or from uterine marveloma. Why must he be vanquished? He did his thing, now let him retire somewhere cushy. At least let him write his memoirs.

They should settle their differences over quarts of Old English. I think if they chatted it out they'd find they have much in common. They would be fast friends, I know it. Let Stark retire eith Thanos. They can open a bar together, grow swarthy moustaches, open a detective agency maybe.

Does Thanos have a first name? He looks like an Elmer to me.
