No hashtags or tweets about the drama here. The only thing it can be is that the account is following Nick.

The only reason hanleia came back is to keep posting her shonen-ai hot takes, she's an addict. Probably threw in some "i dindu nothin I'm just some girl on the internet" like marzgurl too.

$100k was raised not only to have legal interns watch Dragon Maid, but to have them learn the deep, meaningful intricacies of yaoi :story:

You can explain her in one sentence: she's a dragon girl with huge knockers who exists to satisfy the author's mother/son kink, and obviously is an absurdly bad choice for shoehorned feminism. No need for all the massive handwringing essays constructed to carefully avoid the fact that the author is openly into kiddy fiddling content. The self-avowed huge fans in this thread should know that he started out with an autobiographical comic where he was casually into little girls, and that the Dragon Maid series itself has suggestive shots of all of the child characters.

"Vic is an alleged pedo" is true - emphasis on the "alleged". Not meaning to say he obviously is one. The point is that the circlejerking in this thread is getting to be silly as hell and burying actual content.

Good luck to the lawyers who have to deal with this shitshow.
I see, I honestly hadn't considered his fetishes were involved. I figured he was just making fun in a weird Japanese way. As for the alleged part, I apologize, I figured you were taking such allegations seriously. Usually when one puts alleged they tend to lean towards the individual being guilty, unless they're a journalist or analyst. I suppose this is mostly Twitter's fault for making me believe so given that's exactly how that platform uses the word to escape punishment. Been years since I quit, but the damn thing is stuck with me still.

As for the circlejerking, agreed, but I feel that's largely because Vic has clammed up and Nick has been professional so far. I'm waiting for YellowFlash to muck it up, possibly another CGer, to be honest.

Fuck, @Alberto Balsalm was right to wish them luck.

Additionally, one of the #kickvic pests that goes by NJ4K (real name is Josh Clark) might be a predator himself.

Oh, someone on the SJW side screeching about predators turns out to be a predator himself? Say it ain't so.

All jokes and sarcasm aside, this is the first I've heard about this, but I'm not surprised in the slightest. The list of twats like him grows damn near weekly.

I know he's not a VA or anything, but could Vic go after him for slander as well?

No expert, but I want to say no, and I don't think he should, anyway. Go after the major targets with definite dirt on them, and don't spread yourself too thin going after every swinging dick on Twitter. $100k is a lot of money, but if this drags out it won't be enough.

100k is a drop in a bucket for the scope of this case, but if they get some quick wins to begin with, it would allow Vic to fuel further action with his initial gains.

If Carey Christie is reading this, I just want you to know we're not all degenerate demon worshipers or some shit. I swear to God!

Some of us really want to clean up this fandom like that midget woman from Poltergeist cleaned house.

Was thinking that myself. At a minimum we will see 4 separate lawsuits. One for Funimation, one for Rooster teeth, and one for all the idiots (Samantha, Kaylyn, Jamie) I expect those will go into State court in Texas. ANN will be a tougher duck as they are located in Canada. Ty may opt to sue them In federal Court or try and get a suit going in Canada. Each with independent costs and fees. So I expect the plan may be to try and force a quick surrender from Rooster Teeth and Funimation and then use some of the money from that to crucify ANN and the voice actors.

More the opposite. ANN will be in even bigger trouble as they will have to defend a lawsuit in Texas instead of their own backyard. Long arm jurisdiction over them almost certainly exists.

Also "ANN" may not even be something that can be sued. They may just sue the individuals directly as there might not be any corporate integrity there or even any corporation at all.

How hard is it for a Texas court to implement in Canada though?

I'm not sure what that sentence means. They sue them in Texas like they would anywhere else, and serve them according to the usual processes for serving people in Canada. The difficulty might be actually collecting against them, but it's certainly not as complicated as trying to sue someone in Japan.

Depends on what they are trying to enforce? It may be hard to enforce any Contempt orders or force witness testimony. But monetary judgements can be enforced fairly well.

What you do is get a final judgment enforceable in the court you're suing in. Then you "domesticate" the judgment in a court that has jurisdiction over the defendant, through whatever procedures are available (and U.S./Canada and vice versa are very common) in the defendant's country.

Then you pursue collection of the judgment against the defendant in the foreign court and it is effectively treated as a judgment by that court. That part of it would require lawyers licensed in Canada, but the rest of the lawsuit wouldn't other than perhaps the initial service.

My biggest worry is we'll turn Laci from a history nerd into a weeb.

Don't forget Monica Rial, Ron Toye, possibly Shane (with what Nick has been hinting at), possibly Sabat. Also is there any advantage for going them all at once and not individually? Or is the suit just a blanket for all the defendants to be tried under?

I'm sure it's interesting to them what mentally ill individuals who cannot participate in civilized society do with their time.

Before Hanleia nuked her twitter, she had 66k tweets, and is now down to just 33.7k tweets (wew gerl go get a real job lol). I found that interesting.

I've been actually trying to look into this. They occasionally bill themselves as "Anime News Network, Inc." but that's not proof of anything in and of itself.

Apparently, you can incorporate in Canada at either the federal or provincial level. I'm coming up short in a search for them on the federal level. I've even tried searching just with "Anime."

It's REALLY weird how they don't have their address anywhere on their site. I might have to try searching all 10 provinces (and 3 territories) individually.

Piecemeal litigation is discouraged. You're supposed to go after all the defendants with all the causes of action you have against them in one suit, to the extent practical, not turn it into a smorgasbord.

Considering how they behave as the law goes, they may have good cause for not wanting to be easily served.
