So are any of you weebs watching any currently airing/Fall anime or am I embarrassing myself by asking?

Decided to check out Gundam 00. I'm falling in love with this series. It's like, how in my mind Wing should have been. I know kid-me would have liked it more...except for the lack of Deathscythe.

Some of my friends have been constantly pestering me to watch K-ON!

Finally told them I'd watch it when I was done watching every anime I wanted to watch first. Which, with me watching like two or three episodes of one show like every two or three days and I want to watch like 9 shows, I'll probably watch K-ON! by this time next year.

Be prepared.

Has there been any good OVAs or movies lately that aren't just typical shoujo or shounen stuff? I made my way through the Hellsing OVAs and the Berserk movies, which were all terrific, as well as the Persona 4 anime and the first Persona 3 movie (because I'm a consumer whore), anything else kinda like it out there?
The reason I look for OVA's is I don't have the patience to watch hundreds of episodes of a show and I really can't stand fillers.

I know how you feel, I've been there too. I don't know of any OVA's myself, as the market for that sort of thing dried up after Japan's bubble economy had burst. Too often studios either do movies or they expand an idea that could work as an OVA to 13 TV episodes or so and that's all they do.

Yes, sad to say I'm viewing all of it. It's mostly mediocre to poor if that's any consolation. Of course I am enjoying Parasyte and digging the new Gundam Build Fighters series and Shirobako.

Beyond that, it's mostly a steaming pile of mediocrity.

90% of everything is shit. I honestly don't care for "otakubait" shows (lolis, pantsu~~~, titties galore), but there's a few I like this season.

Anyone watching Terra Formars?

It's pretty fucking great.

Finally finished a Gundam series. Gundam X was great except for the end. While the ending was good because the series had it's run cut short, it's not as fulfilling as I would have hoped. Things are way too rushed in the end.

I haven't been watching anything for months so I'm been watching Kino's Journey to make up for that. After that, I could see myself giving Paprika a watch.

Seriously that fourth episode on Kino, goddamn.

I always feel like I watch alot of animu until I talk to other people who watch animu but ano...

Some recent shit I watched for the first time:

- Deathnote - One of my all time favs now. Never really seen an anime psychological thriller
- Gurren Lagan. Good anime. Found it really annoying however.
- Deadman wonderland. Not amazing by any means but knowing that they had to finish the anime so early I feel like the way they decided to end the series was noticeably less insulting than how an anime like Soul Eater ended. Just wish I would have known that last episode was basically a bonus episode because I watched the one before that wondering where they were gonna go from this point.

To say nothing of it's hardcore fans. I'm a mech geek and there's nothing more frustrating than dealing with those.
Thats actually how I wound up watching the series. I really enjoyed Deathnote and Attack on titan. Two animes my friend whos watched a shit ton more than me hated and said sucked. He said gurren lagan was much better and was his favorite anime of all time. So at times I felt like I might have enjoyed the series more if i went in cold. Because I came in pretty skeptical already.
Then when they spent like 7 straight episodes making larger versions of Gurren lagan, screaming "who the hell do you think I am", suddenly having a larger drill and smashing anything that opposed them. I was really fucking done.

Suffice it to say, there was alot of arguing the day after I finished that series.

Once, I made a comment on a mecha youtube video. Some guys were discussing what the strongest mecha is and I entered into it by saying Getter Emperor. Thing is, I compared Getter Emperor to the spiral nemesis, which makes sense because TTGL was inspired by Getter.

Then the fanboy came and started going on about how TTGL is the strongest evah and how Emperor is shit. I spent a couple of days arguing with this guy in the comments section, with a 500 character limit. Dude actually said I never watched Gurren Lagann as I was listing the limitations of the machine and the canon-strength of Emperor. Hell, at one time he said something to the effect of "gods aren't real, so Getter isn't real. TTGL wins."

Anyway, guy gets smacked down so much he quits and someone sets up a reply that told people to follow the chain and see an epic Gurren Lagann debate. I have never felt more like a geek.

Lol, thats awesome man. My argument was significantly less impressive. We basically argued in person for the better part of an afternoon. It started wiith Gurren Lagann somehow jumped into The validity of "Yeezus" in Kanye West's discography then ended in a philosophical debate about the meaning of life and somehow the phrase "Than why don't you go rape some bitches, drink some fucking bleach, and die." came out of my mouth.

We'll probably discuss Attack on Titan sometime this week, we're looking forward to it.

It's amazing how I didn't start Death Note until now. Even more amazing that I'm only aware of that one spoiler and I'm still caught off guard by the surprises.

@LordDarkrai Paprika's pretty good, watch it. Satoshi Kon's one of my favorite anime people (RIP) and I think it's a thousand times better than Inception, which honestly bore me to tears.

@John Titor Which spoiler? Death Note's great too, although I've only read the manga. Just haven't felt like watching the anime yet, I've got Precure and Yu-Gi-Oh and shit to watch because I'm a giant manchild.

Lefty, what did you find annoying about Gurren Lagann? Just curious. I feel the same way about Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt; entertaining series, but some things just made me go "Alright guys, we get it."

It's things like that that do turn me off on anime.
