Republican Sen. John McCain, an internationally renowned Vietnam War hero who served for 30 years in the Senate representing Arizona, died Saturday due to complications stemming from brain cancer.

His office said in a statement that his wife Cindy McCain and their family were alongside him when he died.

"At his death, he had served the United States of America faithfully for sixty years," his office said.

McCain, 81, was a part of many of the past three decades' most significant political moments. He was the 2008 Republican presidential nominee in a contest he lost to President Barack Obama. He also sought the presidency in 2000, mounting a primary campaign against President George W. Bush.

A graduate of the Naval Academy, the Arizona Republican followed both his father and grandfather, who were four-star admirals, into the US Navy, where he carried out airstrike missions.

also for those of you who dont know what he did in 'nam that made him so damn infamous well here you go.

I regret clicking on this thread so fucking much but I gotta say- at the end of the day, politics or not, the man served in the military. He served his nation and deserves some honor- and no, I don't judge him with that traitor shit. He may have admitted something but under torture, who doesn't? It's hard not to admit something when being tortured and hell, he stayed when he had the chance to leave. I give him lots of respect for doing that.

I'll look past his politics, cause this ain't the point of the thread you fuckfaces. Jerk off to his death in /pol/ or in private.

Here, I'll just say, may he rest in peace, as a man who served his nation.

F for the loss of a father and human being.

S for everything else.
Before he was *anything* he was a traitor to America. From the moment he became a politician, he was a tool of the "military/industrial complex"... vouching for war on literally everyone, and wanting *other people* to die so he could get a pay off... (Of course he wouldn't risk himself though, his early betrayals prove that...) I don't forget. I'm glad Obama kicked his ass and...

F. He was one of the better ones. No politician is ever good, but I never got the Slimey vibe from McCain. You knew what you were getting with him like it or not.

Hence "S for everything else."

One thing I admire about McCain was his Concession speech 10 years ago:

At least he took his loss well. Unlike...you know

Hillary-Clinton-supporter-cry.jpg

This was the second time I watched election night coverage and I remember being impressed with McCain's sportsmanship. It's the main reason I turned so hard against Hillary after she lost the election. I expected a speech like McCain's but instead she got drunk and told her supporters to piss off.

I'll just quote my own post in the TB Cancer death thread here, since this thread is filled with the exact same reactions we mocked actual lolcows for.

Personal differences over every conceivable concept were (and still are) part of humanity since the dawn of existence, however, the concept of death is something different, there's a universal respect for it in all cultures, ideologies or religions, and if anyone can't keep their heads out of their asses long enough to at least respect the death of someone they hate, then they fully deserve to be branded a lolcow and ridiculed for the duration of their existence on this earth

Yeah, but McCain was the very definition of a RINO. He was the Democrats' favorite Republican because he was actually a Democrat. The governor appoints a Republican who actually acts and votes like a Republican, and all the Democrats who loved McCain because he only stayed a Republican so he could shit on the party will lose most of what's left of their minds, only saving most of the rest for when Trump's exonerated and a tiny sliver for when he's reelected.

McCain was one of the big triangulators who tried to appease whoever had the chance to help his ass. Pretty much every joke you could make about him you can make about Joe Lieberman, and it should surprise no one that those two are viciously hated by both sides of the political aisle for the same reasons.

I have no love for the guy or his politics. What I will say is that I respect anyone who has the balls to stick this long in politics even when it's obvious practically everyone around him hated him. Say what you will about his political choices, he clearly cared about what he was pushing for, for good or ill.

Brain cancer is one helluva shitty way to die. It's extremely aggressive, hard to operate on and debilitating as all hell. Just like any cancer it's an uphill struggle but when it starts shutting down your faculties and turns you into a vegetable it's a brutal thing to go through and it's just as hard on those around you. McCain may not have been everyones hero but I wouldn't wish cancer on the shittiest person.

I'm not happy that he died, but my opinion on him hasn't changed just because he's dead, and I don't think making a few edgy jokes for shock value makes you the same as someone who is genuinely filled with malice or hatred.

Besides, KiwiFarms isn't exactly a place where you should expect seriousness or decorum. If you want to moralfag about his virtues or follies as a human being, try Reddit. Most of us are just here for the lulz.

I didn't ask you to change your opinions at all. Nor do I want you to.

Where are these jokes you speak of? Most of what I see in this thread is self-righteous anger and autists that are happy someone died, with a few exceptions of people who are genuinely joking about it.

I agree with you that this IS Kiwi Farms after all, and I am not expecting seriousness at all,, just.. not autism.
If you want to moralfag about his praises or follies as a human being, try Reddit. Most of us are just here for the lulz.
I don't see my post as moralfagging, I see it as a call for everyone to self-reflect and not be exactly like the autists we mock.

I say its more half and half. Posting a single sentence reply of "lol fuck that gay faggot, he didn't die soon enough XD" or whatever isn't exactly the same as writing a paragraph-long diatribe about how he was either a brave American hero or the spawn of Satan, at least not in my opinion. Not saying you have to personally find it funny, but a joke not being funny isn't the same as a serious opinion.

Call me optimistic, but I think that most people here are just being edgy for fun, and trying to make it seem like its their genuine opinion can be a part of that. The true A-logs can get b& for all I care though, as most of them can't even control their emotions well-enough to make their posts constructive anyhow.

I didn't mean you specifically, but more for everyone in this thread.
