BUTCH THE BULLY CONFIRMED FOR SEQUEL. (As well as "The Lovely" Vivica A. Fox.)

Derek mostly talks about his woes with Indiegogo and how the campaign has sort of stagnated at ~$9,500 of $25,000 with only 12 days to go. He justifies his request for $25K by going into bizarrely deep lengths to explain the cost of feeding extras and their parents on set. He torpedoes his mathematics by immediately saying he has no idea how much it will cost to rent a school in order to shoot a film there. He also says he intends to have Cool Cat actually physically fight the school shooter in the film and waxes about doing "Matrix stuff" where Cool Cat runs on the walls or something... and also says he has no idea how much those kinds of effects will cost.

$25,000.

He also confirms that the "Munkey Jones" guy will be in the film and that he's footing the bill to put Munkey in a hotel on the Vegas strip. Unless that was a Indiegogo reward tier I have no idea why he's using such a costly method of housing this guy. Derek says that if he fails to reach $25,000 then he should have enough funds to shoot a smaller project called "Cool Cat's Cooking for Kids & Stranger Danger Tips". Cooking and stranger danger. In the same movie.

Films with children don't need to feed parents/siblings, it's good practice even for indie films to use background-checked chaperones to look after kids on set/location, so parents know their kids are safe and can go away. If they choose to stay, the company has no obligation to feed them.
I'm no mathematician but I should think the costs of paying a daily rate for a few childminders and feeding them would cost less than feeding parents and siblings of 30 kids.
Derek should really get help with some aspects of production, I'm sure there are people out there who would do it for free even.
 
You can give Derek shit for the catering thing, but it’s still better than Doug Walker and co. laughing at the very idea of catering and just telling everyone to bring their own food.

Sorry for coming in late here, as this may have been addressed, but what is Savage's connection to Hollywood? His IMDB page brings up virtually nothing other than his own vanity projects, and he did some modeling work near thirty years ago? He lives in a fairly nice house in an expensive neighborhood. What does he do?

He did modeling at some point - he was in Playgirl magazine (as he proudly advertises on the Cool Cat website).
Not sure what else. I personally think he's an ugly fucker, but that's just me.

Derek’s not bad-looking in my opinion (inb4 “Darwin announces his perverse attraction to Daddy Derek”), but it’s doubtf that he could get by on his looks alone.

Regardless, he’s always kind of projected this vibe of that single dad who’s overly friendly to his teenage daughter’s friends, lets them drink beer, and frequently says to them, “sooooo, you 18 yet?”

Oh, for sure, his integrity here is admirable. But like I said in my previous post, it means he's not following proper child protection practice. Shooting (wait, in this context I should say filming!) in a school surrounded by parents is probably pretty darn protected, but still.

I actually think that’s him going out of his way to be accommodating. It’s not really financially smart, but he’s probably doing it with good intentions, like “you can be here with your child so you don’t get worried about leaving him alone with me.”

In fact, maybe this is assuming too much of Daddy Derek, but I honestly think that most of this movie’s cost stems from him being overly-accommodating, such as being willing to foot the bill for Mumkey Jones to stay in a hotel even though Mumkey has said that he’d be willing to pay his own way there. Which is admirable if true, if still a bit incompetent in the long run.

Hate to keep beating this point in but this does play into my unified field theory of douchebag media cliques. Savage is friends with some minor celebs, and thus he gets their help and support and connections (and some of their influence in acquiring shit for his movie) for his hilariously shit enterprises. Remember waaay before cool cat the movie when he was on national fucking news media for the goddamn cool cat book series despite it being sub-sonichu standard?


They dont just invite some random schmuck off the streets. They invited someone who was part of some especially minor hollywood clique who had networked enough to get a spot on the news. Same shit as Brianna Wu
