They dont just invite some random schmuck off the streets. They invited someone who was part of some especially minor hollywood clique who had networked enough to get a spot on the news. Same shit as Brianna Wu

Perhaps but there are a thousand dimwits with dumb ideas like this in any local news region. Derek being singled out despite the quality of his shit makes me think this was the result of him knowing the right guy to put a word in with the right people to give him airtime
 
Derek actually does seem like a mostly alright guy. Did he act like an asshole bully over Cool Cat? Yeah, he did. Is it kinda weird that he decides to use a school shooting to promote his brand? You bet.

But in spite of all that, he doesn’t really come across quite as malicious as some others with threads on here. I think he genuinely believes in Cool Cat as a helpful and necessary children’s teaching tool, and that he could do a lot of good if only he could reach that national level of stardom.

I’m not excusing his shittier actions, but I don’t think they were done out of legitimate malice. Derek doesn’t seem like a bad guy, just a guy who goes way too far in promoting and protecting what he sees as a good thing for his community.

Ostensibly being about "Going Grink" probably helped, like the lady said it was good timing, so they probably waded through their "local autists who want screentime" list, and decided to give Derek that week's "local sperg shilling his shit" slot

It seems Derek has seen the writing on the walls and the potential comedy goldmine that is "Cool Cat Stops a School Shooting" is no more, as with less than a week left he's not even halfway to his goal of $25K. Instead, Derek is backpedalling and has moved the goal posts to just $12,500 and wants to pursue the stranger danger & cooking video (and has completely rewritten the IndieGoGo page to reflect this). He seems to acknowledge that cooking tips and stranger danger don't go together and has changed the title of the film, but he's still planning on working culinary content into the project. He also says that he's trying to figure out how to have the stranger danger film set the stage for the school shooting one, which he still eventually wants to do.

It could have simply been a slow news day too. And that wasn't Fox News, that was a local news channel.
 
This might be totally :autism:and already pointed out but aren't the two kids in the background the ones from the gun section of the Cool Cat movie? Did our Daddy use a screengrab from his first film as a draft cover for his next? Have I watched (the YMS review of) that movie too many times?

The Eric picture was a pretty old one, I think it's from DUR EE IZ day. STILL CASTING is because the mockup poster was bashed together by Derek in Photoshop (or probably Gimp) for the IndieGoGo campaign. Like I said upthread somewhere, Vivica must have been secured early because she either is good friends with Derek, says yes to anything as long as the price is right, or will appear in pretty much any PSAs for kid-safety issues like bullying and school shootings.
 
Derek realized he wasn’t gonna get the 25k he was asking for so he changed the project to something else in an attempt to keep the money he HAD raised.

Mumkey calls Derek out on his shit and urges his fans to get their money back. He also says he’ll be making his own school shooting PSA film.
 
I mean I don't think Mumkey looks anything like a teenager, but good luck to him in showing Derek that $25k is redonkulously high to make a Cool Cat type film.
