Just a reminder, this game is unfinished (hence why it's in early access. )

There is no tutorial, AI Matches, Quick Play, Ranked Play and Extras are also missing, and i doubt the wait was worth it, but it's worth buying the game and trying it out for yourself. i suggest waiting until they update the game and add the important features that makes a good fighting game like Skullgirls.

Lobby Play is still functional as of now.
 
Just played it for the first time. I'm new to fighting games, but I'm really enjoying it so far. The characters are cute af, and with a stranger teaching me the basics of fighting games, it was easy to get the hang of. As @Schwachkopf mentioned, the game has no tutorial at the moment, which is kind of dumb even for an early access game in my opinion.

In fairness, they had to remake a lot of shit because of Hasbro's cease & desist, but I know nothing about game making, so maybe it really is slower than it should take? Regardless, they have come out with a pretty good product so far.
 
They still haven't finished the game? During it's development I managed to enter the MLP fandom, exit the MLP fandom and completely forget about MLP. What the hell were they doing? Looks cute I guess, but this is going to be a Skullgirls situation where people are going to buy it based on character designs, but will never play the actual game. It'd probably have the same devoted fandom as Skullgirls though
 
I'm only buying this for the same reason why I only bought Skullgirls; as in to support traditional animation

While I appreciate that they are dropping the MLP branding, (well forced to) it still has alot of MLP dna in it's identity, which is going to be a hard sell for some folks, like myself, who dislike the show and it's fandom... Especially it's creator is actually working on it

I kinda want Lauren Faust to move on and actually work on something so that she can be a respected creator again
She is very talented and I can see her potential, but I'm starting to think she's a one trick pony

Other then the PowerPuff Girls (I know PPG was her husband's work, but she also had a hand), I wasn't fan of her work in Foster's Home (I didn't like the show in general, but I also really don't liked alot of her writing in the show, and yes I know lolcows have already sperged on about that Bendy episode, so I'm not going to say anything about that)

Wasn't a fan MLP, her supposed "Magnus Opus" (The 2 seasons when she was involved, I know she left around the 3rd season and many bronies say the show actually got "better", I only saw the same repetitive shit as before, but I digress)

And that new DC Girls show she's working on, looks like even bigger shit then MLP, though I really liked those DC Nation shorts she made

Why Cartoon Network didn't made that into a show, I have no ideal....

There's Medusa, which can be Lauren's actual Magnus Opus but Sony is probably gonna fuck that up

Case in point, I fail to see why Lauren Faust is the acclaimed darling status she manged to earn, she's a good artist and worked on some critical acclaimed shows, but everything she had personally worked on, had fail to interest me

I don't see this game succeed as it's own metric, it's only sellingpoint is "HEY BRONIES! REMEMBER THIS!?, LOOK AT IT, IT'S NU-MLP!"
 
I still remember when someone entered the MLP fighting game they were making into EVO.
 
This game deserves any praise coming it's way but wow it's still not done yet? Hopefully people don't turn it down simply because they don't like bronies. It's not 2014 anymore get over it.
 
Ah yes: the horsefucker game. I've been told that you shouldn't care about the aesthetics and evaluate it only on its gameplay, but if that really were the case then Function vs. Function Infinite might have made it to EVO. I'm sure if will carve out its own (hopefully non-cancerous) niche if enough attention is brought to it, but as it stands I currently have too many fighting games with too little time to improve in them, so I'm giving it a pass.

not that i've played the game or anything but do combos not drop all the time because of the autistically specific hitboxes?
 
A friend of mine who I play fighting games with often got me this as soon as it went on sale. I played the training mode for a few characters, seems pretty fluid all in all, not much jank going on. Chains and combos are very easy to do, it's got some leniency. Arizona is a fucking good character that plays how I like them, sort of a grappler mixed with a rushdown character, reminds me of Beowulf from Skullgirls and that's my main in that game.

All in all I see a lot of good coming from this game if they hurry up and finish it. The music is actually really nice too!

Sometimes indie games take a stupid long time to put together, and fighting games are more complex than most. Maybe it also has something to do with Lauren Faust getting involved. There’s little chance she had time just set aside to do the character work and any other animation stuff she might have helped with.
