Yeah she's probably really busy with other shit you're right. I just remember hearing about them having the ground work for it done, but I guess they had to build a new engine based on the previous one they used for the MLP game for the game.
She was also probably really pissed at Hasbro in the first place over the dispute that caused her to ragequit the show. She's professional enough not to trash the people she used to work with, although she is fairly notoriously difficult to work with herself, and heard about Hasbro fucking with the original Mane6 project, Fighting is Magic.
While she doesn't seem very litigious herself, she's certainly aware of copyright issues, and that may be why she offered to design them a set of characters. It would not only be ridiculous to try to sue her for doing this, it would be way on the wrong side of copyright law.
Here goes a digression.
In fact, a case where a shitty corporation tried to sue a musician for doing music that sounded too much like what he'd done previously (when he was with that record company) was found so frivolous that he got huge attorney's fees awards from the other side.
Fogerty v. Fantasy, Inc. You may recall a singer named John Fogerty from Creedence Clearwater Revival. Well, the idiot company he used to work for tried to sue him for a song called "The Old Man Down the Road." They claimed it sounded too much like "Run Through the Jungle."
Let's strip this down to the essentials. They tried to sue him for sounding too much like himself. This was found not only to be wrong in a court of law, but to be so ridiculously frivolous and stupid an argument that the idiots who sued John Fogerty had to pay every penny for every minute wasted by the other side to have to defend against this bullshit.
So why this is ironclad in this case is to sue Lauren Faust for this, they'd essentially have to say she created characters too Lauren Faust-like.
She clad the creators of this game in Faust armor and they are essentially immune from suit.
That's pretty nice of her really.
Also I really like that Pinkie Pie theme. Why doesn't anyone do happy hardcore any more? That's really what that is.
