Twilight was soft-soft porn for insecure teenage girls and prude house wives. Fifty Shits of Grey took that one step further. The truly cringe-worthy thing about it was, that some people were claiming that those books were more than just that. After all they are just the girl-equivalent of the Transformers movies.

Also, Lindsay has gotten fat.

and that's fine, he's okay at drawing these. The problem is whenever he tries anything outside of these it looks super unnatural and forced.

Has anyone in the history of ever actually asked Dobson to white-knight for them? Love to know. I mean, of course the answer is no, but it's amazing the level of desperation these comics reek of. He really must feel he can latch on to something like #MeToo or whatever to garner attention for himself. Doesn't look like it's working yet.
 
I don't understand any push to see Twilight (or Fifty Shades, for that matter) as feminist, since a relationship like that would be easily seen as abusive in real life.
(The guys in Twilight are stalkers and controlling. The guy in Fifty Shades is as well, but ups the ante by raping the girl.)
 
This is really easy to address:
its easy to care about it less now that its not every-fucking-where, and even more terrible and annoying shit has risen up in its place.

Anyone else remember when Barney was the great satan? Or when Marilyn Manson was considered edgy? Times change, and its easier to tolerate something when its not in your face 24/7.

But instead of realizing "in retrospect, my outrage was overblown, but not at the time when it was being shoved down my throat", since they can't be seen as being wrong, ever, time to blame evil white men.

They're doing it because a) it's a way to remain relevant without venturing outside their comfort zone (young adult/pop fantasy) and b) :autism:

I find it hilarious that he thinks it’s one person doing all this when in fact it’s most likely Twitter doing what they said they were gonna do back in December and clean house of the hateful people, so they’re finally looking through all the reports they’ve gotten about Dobson’s shitty behavior.

Hence why a bunch of us got updates on tweets we reported months ago.

Those comics of just the blue bear talking to the reader with a pie chart are so fucking lazy. That's gotta be the most dull, uninteresting way to use the webcomic format.
 
If he's really that broken up about it, why doesnt he just make a new account? Twitter is way too big to find out or care if he's using a new one.

his followers don't care enough to follow the new account, aside from us out of spite. Worst part is he can't just start over from scratch with a new name anyway because he burned so many bridges with his shitty attitude.

So why does SYAC even need Dobson to begin with? He's easily the worst character in his own comic. Every panel that he appears in automatically taints it. It's either him being unfunny, him being a whiner, him being a jackass, or all three.

The worst part is that there's absolutely a place for him to use/draw the bear persona in the exact same way he has been, and actually have it be good: as a caricature of the sort of bad artist that absolutely refuses to take criticism for any reason, fitting in with those characters you described for a hypothetical SYAC reboot. The problem is in order for this to work he'd have to actually eat crow and acknowledge that he's been a huge dick, something that careercows by definition are unable to do. I think that's partially the reason why he has so many Patreon hangers-on - one by one they're realizing it's been like five years and he hasn't snapped out of it, pulled a Buckley and went 'haha oh wow i was kind of a dick' and made fun of himself and got back to drawing. Instead he's just gotten so unlikable they're finally starting to wise up and drop off. Buckley took forever but eventually did pull out of it, so I feel like Dobson might too. He just needs to get his head out of his ass and get off social media for a while.
