It took me a while to realize that the picture is supposed to be fanart of Mario Party. Good luck figuring that out by yourself (you'd actually have to watch the floor under Bowser's feet to realize what's going on.)

But Jesus have mercy, what a clusterfuck. Random characters and anime expressions with no rhyme or reason, extremely fucked up proportions, washed out colour palette that is thoroughly unpleasant to look at, and of course, HANDS. Mario's is easily the worst of it, does anybody reach out for something with all of their fingers folded in like that? That's an amateur mistake most children make when they're learning to draw (even I did it when I was about 9) and not, you know, a grown ass man who graduated from MCaD.

The worst part of the picture, however, is Wario. I do not genuinely know what his place in the picture is supposed to be, but he seems like an afterthought. You know that one picture Rob Liefeld drew where he finished his art and he was like "Whoops, that kid was actually supposed to be holding a gun"? Yeah. Dobson probably told himself that it'd be funny if Wario was in there, so instead of rubbing off some details that would make it look like Bowser attacked him directly, he just rendered some fire in front of Bowser's mouth and slapped Wario in there haphazardly somehow.

The end result makes it look like Bowser's just standing there, going "HA-CHA-CHA-CHA" at Peach, and Wario just happened to jump at that moment where he breathed fire out of his mouth and set his own ass on fire.

Seriously, somebody should do "The 50 Worst Drawings of Andrew Dobson" and post it up.

Somewhere in one of the old threads there's a DA post he made, something like "Post 100 of your characters' faces!" and every single one was literally exactly the same.

I saw. To be honest, I think Dobson just made up half of those characters on the fly just to finish that challenge, because I've never even heard of some of them before that day, or ever again. To compare, most webcomics don't even have a quarter of that number (probably because maintaining a cast of 100 means that several are going to be flat, boring filler characters.)

There are only three characters that Dobson drew that actually have some likeability, and honestly, should be the main characters of his comic instead of that stupid blue bear he keeps shoving in people's faces: Carl, Persistent Pam and Emily.

Carl represents the harsh, critical side of art, easily pointing out mistakes in a sort of Gordon Ramsey-ish fashion, which, in the hands of a, -ahem- COMPETENT writer, could be perfect for a comic named "So, You're a Cartoonist?"

Emily represents the naive newcomer, somebody who wants to make an effort, but makes mistakes in her art that Carl will point out. Again, in the hands of a capable writer, Emily could easily demonstrate common mistakes artists make in their art, and learn and grow with the audience.

Persistent Pam represents the audience. Anything she says, it's what the audience is thinking, (plus, she's most likely the character that swats Dobson upside the head when he does something stupid) hence why people actually like her. Emily and Pam could easily have a dynamic going, which, incidentally, would flesh out both characters. But again, this is Dobson we're talking about here.

What's my point, however? It's rather sad that out of 100 characters that Dobson claims he has under his belt, only 3 are actually worthwhile characters. SYAC could easily run without Dobson interrupting it ever so often just to be a preachy cunt that disseminates bad advice. The comic would be readable, somewhat, if Andrew Dobson decides to butt out of his comic and not use it as a platform for his opinions.

So why does SYAC even need Dobson to begin with? He's easily the worst character in his own comic. Every panel that he appears in automatically taints it. It's either him being unfunny, him being a whiner, him being a jackass, or all three.

The day he decides to hit that blue bear with a Mack Truck, and kill off said character for real, would be the day his comics become 100 times better. Granted, 100 times zero is still zero, but it's something.

Despite the atrocious point he was trying to make, I honestly thought this comic had the most bearable expressions on his bearsona. Not saying a lot, but still it’s a lot better than

That Wario is terrible. Not only does he look like a midget, he also lacks the constant grin he has even during pain and sleep. In fact, it's just Mario. It's like he made every single one of them without official art.
...He never does, does he?

He seems to have depicted the number on the pie chart wrong intentionally. This is what 40% actually looks like.

Let me guess, “we only thought the movies/books were terrible pieces of crap with Mary Sues and romantizing abusive relationships because SEXISM!!!!”

EDIT: Annnnnd it was made by Lindsey Ellis. Oh course Dobson would start sucking up to her.

That was one of the big points discussed when it was first posted.
I guess I must have either forgot about it or missed it the first time around. I think that I first saw that point mentioned on a different website that was talking about him.

Oh god, it was one of the brown phase drawings? Also I have a feeling that heads/faces of Mario and Peach have been heavily "referenced" from somewhere else. They're the only things that don't look nearly as sloppy as everything else in this picture.

I think you are right, they do look similar

He also ignored the fact that people who pissed off because the characters they actually wanted were all dead and/or getting pissed on. Keep in mind by 2016, most of the Avengers were in that camp and as someone who's seen the stuff from that era, he's also double/triple counting some "white males" that didn't get nuked. Remember Hydra Cap, Dobson? The thing you never read but was reeee'ing about it even after it ended regardless of content?

Now that I've realized that the drawing is supposed to be about Mario party I'm even more baffled by it. The backgrounds were so bland it never even occurred to me that it was supposed to be a Mario party board, usually the boards in the games are so lively and filled with little details and decorations that I never would have realized that Dobson's dreary little sky backdrop was supposed to represent a board if someone hadn't pointed out the spaces under Bowser's feet, which are hard to notice because they're so flat and the picture is so crowded with mismatched nonsense that it doesn't stand out at all. That's also not how the Mario party games play at all, all the characters in his depiction are all rushing through the board and violently scuffling with eachother to reach the star (at least that's what I think that little shimmer is supposed to be), but that's really not the case at all in the games. The actual segments that take place on the board pretty much consist of navigating the board with dice rolls and adapting to all the little quirks of that particular board to get to the Star spaces, while using items to give yourself more of an advantage from time to time. The actual mini games featured in the series are actually fairly hectic and are infamous for turning even the kindest and most stalwart friend in a group into vicious asshole, but for some reason Dobson decided to focus on the actual board game aspect for a massive group free-for-all shot For whatever reason while also removing the actual fun and interesting about those sections because that would be extra work. My main theory for this is that Dobson doesn't know any of the mini games from the series because he's never actually played any of the games due to a lack of friends.

"Only 40".

Dobson would still be parroting the complaints of his senpais if it was "only 95".

According to this source ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demography_of_the_United_States#Race ) 26.4% of the US population identifies as other than being white, yet the US comic book industry representation of non-whites is 40% but according to blue sack of lard this still isn't enough.

If 40% isn't enough then SJWs should write, illustrate and sell their own comics to increase that percentage and then let the market decide. Oh right, it is easier to bitch and moan on Twitter, Tumblr, etc and let established companies do the hard work and take the financial risks trying cater to SJWs that don't buy comics in the first place. We all know how well that strategy worked for Marvel!

This is why you don't cater or capitulate to SJWs, no matter what you do, nothing is ever enough. There is no end to their demands and no matter what you do, they'll never be satisfied.

Why am I getting reused art vibes from that? It feels like I've seen the bear in those particular poses in different comics before.
