My Ultra Moon is arriving in a few days so I havent played it yet, but Im hearing this game has no National Dex again and.... why? It sucked that it was missing in the original SM, but they had a chance to fix it here. Why the fuck are they so lazy. Between this, yet another gen with a very small batch of new Pokemon, this time with the added sting of like half of them being legendaries, no new megas, and a bunch of other poor decisions like Festival Plaza and Alola forms, gen 7 is really shaking my faith in one of my favorite series. Theyre prioritizing gimmicky shit over basic features.

I thought Cyrus and Lysandre were both dead.
Cyrus was left to wander the distortion world, and it’s implied Lysandre became immortal in the same way AZ did. May have been a different story in Pokémon Special/Adventure tho, because I know for sure that Archie and Maxie die in that series.

I'm having a good time with Ultra Sun so far, but man oh man there are some issues. Festival Plaza is still a huge step down from PSS as a multiplayer system, and considering that's where I spend the bulk of my time in postgame that's a major letdown. There's also still way too many cutscenes, although the start of the game has to be a good 30 minutes shorter, and it feels much better for it.

Even with my complaints, though, I'm still having fun. I just have to wait for bank to get my breeding action on, since I haven't managed to find a Ditto yet.

I don't know which leader was my favourite, but Cyrus certainly had the best grumpy-face.

Just beat Brooklet Hill. I'm already enjoying some of the newly added Pokemon they included in the game (Noivern, Inkay, etc.).

For whatever reason, I felt compelled to catch a Feebas for the Pokedex. I learned two things while doing this.

1.Feebas, as always, is a right pain in the ass to catch, but I got one.
2. Holy fuck, Basculin hurts at early levels. Even without Reckless, these bastards were hitting like trucks. Iirc, my Herdier was at full HP, had 6 levels on a Basculin, and got 2HKO by 2 Aqua Jets without crits. I know Herdier isn't the tankiest Pokemon in the world, but hot damn. Stop picking on my fucking dog.

You can actually get the Feebas evolution item via Pickup, which is super cool. I already got one from Meowth and that was before my first trial.

Yeah, even in PokeSpe, Cyrus was left to roam the Distortion World, bringing all of his lieutenants with him (of their will). Archie and Maxie are indeed "dead", they did come back briefly in ORAS, but ended up going back once their role was done. Lysandre is more than likely dead in PokeSpe, having been splattered on some jagged rocks, or some shit.

But yeah, these bosses are all from Alternate Universes, where the PC didn't exist, allowing them all to win. However, at the moment of their victories, they were all whisked away.

For example the only thing Dragalge and Naganadel have in common is typing, they look very different and feel very different playing with them
One hits hard and fast and the other gets fucked hard.

Pokemon Bank and Poke Transporter have just updated, not only adding Compatibility with Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, but also the Virtual Console versions of Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver.

How in the ever loving fuck am I so bad at this fucking game. I've spent 2 hours trying to get past Kiawe's trial and I just fucking can't. That fucking Marowak one hits everything I have.

Learn how typing works scrub lord.

Alolan Marowak is weak to:

Ground 2×
Rock 2×
Ghost 2×
Water 2×
Dark 2×

I know how it works but he knows brick break, which killed off my rockfuff, I started with rowlet so that's useless, my finneon is shit, and every time I do ok he calls the Salazzle and it poison's everything. I'm like 5 levels above him, but all of my pokemon are so fucking slow no one can land a hit.

Just get a good Rock type Pokemon like Mudbray or Rockruff, stock up on Super Potions and spam a move like Bulldoze or Rock Tomb. If you want to better your chances, get both of those with the moves I just mentioned.

Just a heads up to anyone on this trial - you can use Thief to steal Marowak's Thick Club, netting yourself a free one and cutting down it's beastly attack.

Tbh, I think I gave up on the game a few hours after having it, I just can't pay attention to it, no matter how hard I try. I really want to like it but I think that this gens story just isn't for me, considering by the end of normal moon I stopped paying attention as well.

I also constantly forget Z-moves are a thing, and I'm sure they would've helped immensely against Kiawe, but I copped out and sent myself a Brionne.

Oh well, here's hoping the next game holds my attention better.

I spent the last 30 minutes trying to SOS chain an Oricorio before taking on Hala before I realized they changed how SOS calls work. Unless you use adrenaline orbs, wild pokemon will now only call for help once (if successful; if not they'll keep calling until an ally shows up and stop calling forever afterwards). I was angry over wasting so much time, the original rate didn't make it that hard to catch pokemon and yet they changed it.

I'm a little disappointed in the pokemon variety so far; all it seems like they did was add 1 new mon per area and add in existing mons to earlier areas. They also made the RotomDex even more annoying by it chiming in every time you find a mon you haven't seen before in the wild.

Also like how the game forces you to do the Mantine Surf tutorial; if you don't follow it, it'll keep repeating the tutorial bits until you do it. And the frame rate drops in the cut scene when you get to Akala and talk to everyone is really bad.

I've gotten to the stickers.

Is there a reason to collect them beyond 'they exist'?

You get Totem pokemon of your own. While they don't have stat boosts, they're huge and weigh more (impacting moves like Heavy Slam and Grass Knot), and most seem to have their hidden abilities. Gumshoos was given to me in Ultra Sun at level 20 for 20 stickers, which is pretty solid at that point of the game. US and UM both have their own unique totem pokemon to trade for, so its just a fun method of distributing gift pokemon.

The story is trash yes. Unless they changed some bits (which they did in the Totem fights) I can understand this perfectly.
