This is just another moment of Phil still thinking it's 2010 when it comes to video game commentary. Today, you don't get brownie points for playing AAA games day one, because the viewers will be gone day two unless you have something to offer. You can't play the nostalgia heavy games unless you bring unique and charming ideas during your run. If anything, carving a niche is easier than chasing the PDPs of Twitch- you'll likely actually play something that isn't saturated and brimming with competition. Phil is going to rot on that hill, chasing day one views just to skim by, when if he would learn to laugh at himself, he wouldn't have this thread.

...or we would have less pages.

It is something he has always known. He use to love saying it was all about the game while the other let's players were about sharing their personality, but it is impossible to be a streamer and not have your personality be the focus. If he wants to be all about the game he should do long plays in silence without the face cam but that would never happen. He loves being in the spotlight while simultaneously knowing he doesn't belong on the stage. Dsp has been bombing for almost ten years, but he is going to ignore the red light telling him to wrap it up until someone gives him the hook.

I guess we can safely say that Phil has lost enough patreon patrons that he will no longer be able to consistently make his goal amount. He's now on his 3rd consecutive month where monthly pledges (not one-time donations at the end of the month) are short.

Coincidentally, loot boxes in a game lowered his views. Or... Hmm?

DSP still thinks about things like it's 2010.. His streaming still revolves around getting those day 1 views when that is not an attraction anymore..

And to make it worse, he has not developed a sense in all his years as a streamer that caters primarily to the consumers as to what releases are truly being hyped by gamers..

Hell, he doesn't have enough common sense to look at a Twitch Top 10 games and just pick one of those and give it a sustained try at least..

Phil doesn't question why it's only him that gets all those TIHYDPs.. When in fact it has been his idiotic attitude towards his fans and his no effort approach towards gameplay, streaming & editing that got him in there..

Any person would have wised up that YouTube comments are only a reaction to his idiotic videos, and thus as long as the videos remain idiotic, the TIHYDPs will keep on coming because that's where their material comes from..
 
Doesn't really matter how many viewbots that creepy bastard Vidar buys for Phil, you can't make those bots pledge tips and cheers. When Phil bitches about the number of people watching, what he really means is the amount earned from tips and cheers.

He's got that weird combination of insatiable greed and unwarranted ego... He would love for him to have tens of thousands of people watching and sucking up to him daily, but would still expect thousands in bits/tips/cheers/paymetons from each and every one of them.

Do viewbots count as views for ads? The low cash flow is his fault he told everyone about his huge payday coming in and how he will be fine after that. He expects a consistent payday from an inconsistent income source. Once he got $4,000 from the copyright strikes that was his new normal and after last month now he will expect $5,000 or more. If Dspgaming ever gets blacklisted you can probably just double that number because Phil's content is totally worth $10,000 a month from his fans pocket, right?

Great observation. Phil could have 5 people attend his streams, but if they gave him the money he wanted he wouldn't give 2 shits about attendance.

Keep in mind that his Patreon is rarely going to hit goals now.
He's also losing out on his YouTube bucks.

I guess if someone like Pewdiepie got hit by demonetization and said "fuck youtube I'm never making these vids again" it'd get a huge bag of attention. I'm not sure if this is what DSP is thinking by never making videos that have been hit by demonetization or if he genuinely needs the money.

Once you add it all up, he's starting to take a hit financially. I'm not so sure he'll be able to make Twitch work for him, and Twitch is also a mega inconsistent income source of course... all it takes is a ban or some issue and Phil's gonna be fucked.

Remember back earlier in the thread when Phil said Twitch was about 50% of his revenue once he came back? He might go back to pre-Twitch levels, if the Youtube issues keep happening. Twitch might very well be the last fort, at that point.
