Mr. Plinkett is the best thing that channel offers.

I recall reading something where Mike addressed this. He essentially said Jar Jar was a completely inconsequential part of the film's problems. The character had nothing to do with how its story was fundamentally broken almost to the point of recursion.

He once went so far as to (mildly) praise Jar Jar, in that he was the only character who actually had something of an arc.

Of course, in the Revenge of the Sith review, Plinkett refers to him as a "loathsome cunt," so I doubt he's got much affection for him.

I see a lot of people reaction to his new review is just "but they did a half in the bag on it and that skit also" and I just think that stupid as like, half in the bag is like their reactions to seeing it while still in theater and it more a discussion then anything else, it unfocused while Mr. Plinkett reviews are after it come out for a while more in death and focus less a review and more analysis of the film, people who mad it and a lot of the stuff around it. Personally I really liked the new review, much much better then the force awaken review which I thought was kind of "meh" and felt made just cause they sort of had to.

He surprised me when he went to bat for the actresses and said he thought all of them--even Melissa McCarthy and Leslie Jones--were funny in other movies he saw. Ironically the movie's main "controversy" and the reason all haters are sexist trolls played no part in this review. Mike focused entirely on the writing, directing, and soulless corporatism.

Yeah, I'm glad Mike did that, too. Most of the actresses (especially Kristen Wiig) actually are talented and have done good work in the past. But the thing that a lot of people forget is that you can't polish a turd. In other words, no matter how talented an actor is, if the script and direction are garbage, they can't do much to salvage it.

Also, Mike made some really good points about the joke pacing issue and the constant chatter. That edit he made of the hearse joke (where, after someone asks if there's still a body in the hearse, the scene ends in awkward silence instead of dragging on) was actually funny. It really does feel like the cast was forced to improv like 80% of the time. Sometimes that works for a movie, but other times you really need to give your actors a script.

Up next: Best of the Worst, featuring Ghostbusters 2, the Original Ghost busters (with the gorilla) and Evolution.

They don't like "Ghostbusters 2" because it's basically a remake of the first one. That's totally true...but I like it because I feel just as a comedy it's pretty funny.

The RLM crew said that they liked the first 20 minutes and the movie has its moments. I agree with that much.

Making a 2016 reboot/cinematic universe for Ghostbuster would be tricky as hell regardless, because the original movie wasn't made with sequels in mind. The filmakers would run the risk of the movies all being too similar, big world destroying villain is unleashed, big climactic battle in Ny city, kinda like how Force Awakens had another bigger deathstar for its climax.

It's almost like forcing a Cinematic Universe on everything is a badly thought out and terrible idea.

I prefer their best of the worst series, where they dig out all those trash movies and vanity projects and have a blast watching them (most of the time), because thats a subgenre few youtubers explore, and even less in a fashion RLM does that's both entertaining and interesting. At least Jay Bauman is capable of remembering and reciting imdb information for their video purposes.

Best of the Worst is hit or miss for me. Mostly because I don't like Josh at all; he just seems like kind of an asshole and he has no chemistry with the rest of the guys. My favorite ones are when it's Jay, Jack, Mike, and Rich Evans.

Jessie was fun too but IIRC fans got way too creepy towards her which is why she stopped doing it.

I like Josh. I don't hate Jack but he's a bit of a tryhard. I think Jessie and Mike broke up.

Jack was just trolling a Pre-REC stream by saying that she hasn't been in front of the camera so they can't film her. That's as much as they've ever said regarding Jessie.

Josh doesn't bother me, although he tends to have the lamest jokes. For me the best BotW involve Mike, because he typically becomes more and more drunk and hence more and more abusive of Rich Evans, which is always hilarious. Really, though, the only episode I dislike is the one with Max Landis, and we all know what went wrong there. (It's a shame, too, because the Double Down stuff is a pisser.)

I feel like apart from the stupid "Jessie isn't in front of the camera" joke, Jack did in fact let slip during some Pre-Rec livestream that she and Mike broke up. No idea which one, though.

I thought the Max Landis BOTW episode was great despite that one particularly awkward moment.

The only salvageable part of the Max Landis episode is the Double Down segment, and that's thanks entirely to Rich Evans.
