I think you're reading too much into it, and your nasty little comments might end up costing me sales and money in the long run. You're taking bread out of my family's mouth with your review, do you realize that?
I perfectly realise that. And, as a writer and a critic, I realise that there's ultimately only one solution to that - one that is pretty much the basic mantra of all newbie writer boot camps. Grow a thick skin. Learn from the critique. If you want better reviews of your works, write better works. I mean, of course a bad review is going to make some people discouraged to spend money on your works. I realise that. But I can see that you have at least some skill in writing and I have absolutely, unquestionably, no doubt whatsoever that you can actually go forth and write something that is absolutely breathtaking. One day. I wouldn't waste my time writing a review if I didn't actually believe in your ability to take heed of the critique. Please prove me you're worth it.

You know what's funny? I bet your ex probably doesn't even think about you. Because dwelling on shitty old relationships is kind of super pathetic.

Also, these rules you keep mentioning don't exist. But you won't listen.

I have two dogs already. They'd get jealous.
Neat!! Do you have a picture?
No, the best revenge is keeping my enemies from living well by taking everything away from them. They don't want me in their world, enjoying their fancy little elitist perks, so I will do whatever I can to get those things away from them and take them for myself. That is what will make me happy and healthy.
It won't, thinking that makes you a terrible person. Talk to your pastor about it
You should though, he's poisoning your mind
You mean a place where I'll pay higher taxes, deal with crime and violence, can't turn on my lights at a certain hour because I might confuse a stupid sea turtle, can only have seven bullets in my gun, and am not allowed to have a large soft drink on the street or even get salt on the table in a restaurant? No, thanks.
Case in point. It doesn't have to be NYC, and you would see for yourself he's full of shit and blowing things way out of proportion.
Also you'd get good TV!

I tried that, but I looked too much like my late father for comfort. Reason #1 my ex left me-- I told her about his death, and it broke the first rule of college dating--no blah-blah about personal stuff (at least for the guy--if the girl does it, it's okay).
It's all about context. Where were you when you talked about your pops kicking it? Was it an appropriate time? Was there talk of death before you brought it up? There are tons of ways to bring it up but if you make it awkward it's just another reason for her to drop you.

Fucking this. And really if there are rules they are basic human things like "Don't be a cunt."

EDIT- Also not everything is the same for different people. Jokes about abortion may work for one girlfriend and not the other. Again that's life.

It's not going to happen though. Since 1997? These people have moved on, established careers and families, and have mostly, if not completely, forgotten about you. But you remain obsessed with them. So who's winning?

Progressives feel an overwhelming need to micromanage and dictate every aspect of everyone's life: where they work, where they go to school, who the health care professional shall be, what they eat/drink, even who they date. Have you ever lived or worked for a hard-core law-and-order liberal? They lay down a set of strict rules, with equally as strict punishments for breaking these rules. Then when these rules start to confuse and inconvenience them, they make new rules to explain the previous rules with even harsher punishments. This only causes more confusion and misery, so they have to make a third set of rules explaining and amending the other two. Most of them will amend or contradict the previous rules. You end up with a twisted knot of incomprehensible laws, overly harsh penalties for the tiniest infraction, an infrastructure that's breaking down, and a bunch of scared, resentful, angry people running around in circles, living in fear, rioting in the streets, and trying to tear each other apart. Change is bad.
I'm a conservative, which I've mentioned many times in this forum before I had ever heard of you. You clearly think this liberal caricature you've created is real, which is honestly kind of hilarious. There is no liberal conspiracy against you. If you've been banned from the computer lab of a college you no longer attend, it's likely either a policy of "students/faculty/staff only", or you're just a creeper. In short, you have no idea what you're talking about.

Yes, because a conservative would never say such a thing. They love my work. Only liberals ever insult and mock me and my comics., because they're trying to roadblock me at every turn and keep me from rebuilding my life the way it used to be.
I don't love your work. Checkmate.

Seriously, get some help.

For someone who is supposedly so much better than Chris and totally not a lolcow, almost all I read in your posts are loveshy and Wizard level excuses for failure never being your own fault at all, Childish NO U's and petty revenge fantasies fueled by impotent rage that are better suited for an SJW.

I wonder if being a moderate Republican would be close enough to conservative. Because if that's the case then count me as a conservative who doesn't like Mr. Sweet's work even I'm impressed at his prolific production.

Are you even trying to be taken seriously anymore? You're ranting about how a bunch of enemies that only exist in your head are somehow ruining your life by mocking you and saying bad things about your comic, and you're wondering why people find you ridiculous.

When you throw around political philosophies like that when describing how you think people should feel about your fiction, it makes me feel like that you treat your comic in a similar way to how Chris treated Sonichu, in that you tend to use it only to entertain yourself and rant about politics and silly things you don't like rather than actually trying to entertain others.

If you really think that negative reviews are hurting your business, instead of whining about it and blaming it on the DANG, DIRTY LIBERALS, why don't you either try giving them a non-patronizing response for once and politely ask them what you could improve?

This would not only make people have a lot more respect for you, but taking criticism into account rather than acting like you're being personally attacked will lead to your comic improving, therefore getting more positive reviews, and eventually, better sales. If you continue to respond to critique the way you do, chances are your work will never improve, and it will keep getting the same lukewarm to negative reception regardless.

I also don't understand why you constantly shoehorn links to your site and comic strips into your posts and then you're surprised when people give you negative feedback or just don't outright praise you even.

The choice is yours and none of us can control what you do, but if you decide to continue responding to critics the way you have been, don't blame it all on liberals or whatever new imaginary boogeyman is bothering you when nothing changes for the better.

I mock because you are hilariously pathetic. Pretty sure that has nothing to do with liberalism.

For someone who thinks only liberals micromanage you're the one who classes everyone in certain groups.

You really think everyone is out to get you? You list all kinds of enemies, and the things that they've alternately accused you of and tarnished your once-good name with, and I have to say it sounds like there are some common themes: they hate you and are elitist scumbags who can't stand to watch a good guy win in life because his political ideology ain't kosher. And to be honest they sound like terrible people, because I'm sure if given a fair shake you'd do well in life and would be respected and admired by everyone. Am I right so far?

That sounds pretty shitty, but there's a flaw in your reasoning: the fact that all of these people share common cause implies the fault lies with you, not them. One or two are outliers, more than that are statistics.

If you run into an asshole in the morning, you ran into an asshole.

If you run into assholes all day, you're the asshole.

I'm a creationist. Evolution seems to be mostly a series of random mutations, caused by breaks in the genetic code caused by innumerable X-factors. We know more about autism and ADHD now that we did 20 or 30 years ago, hence the prevalence of these conditions, even though they've likely been around for decades.

@thatsforubama-- Gladly.

Any Democrat-run city has its problems. A Long Island, NY middle school recently banned all balls on its playground. Another school implemented something called "shadow tag", to keep kids from getting hurt running around. These are the same people who say America's kids are getting fat, right? Chicago's crime and corruption are legendary. St. Louis is a toilet. New Orleans still hasn't revovered from Katrina. Biloxi barely has its LRT trains back up and running, and last I heard there are still huge gaps in much of the track. These are the same peolI live next door to Memphis, and it's a circus. I could handle a mid-sized burg like Jonesboro, maybe, even if the rent is a bit on the steep side. But the social opportunities are unparalleled.

@WWWWolf-- You can read more of my stories here. Maybe you'll find one more to your liking.

I advice you to get professional help and talk to someone who has studied psychology.
I have studied psychology. They tried forcing me into counseling, as I said. I went in for a preliminary appointment and quickly realized it was a ploy to palm me off on someone else, when it would have been far easier and less expensive to handle the dispute in-house. I was then told I needed to pay for the real session, and it was all I could do not to tell that little pinhead at judicial affairs to go stick it in his bald monkey ass. Even if I'd shelled out the $500, they would have come up with more hoops for me to jump through. I have also studied on the Sixth Amendment and copyright law. The copy editor who levied the charge was not present during my hearing and never questioned once. That sounds suspicious to me. Having my ex's dad the lawyer in my corner would have been a huge help, but I'd ruined that by making a mess of things with her.

Seriously...Tell us these rules.
I tried that before, and I got mocked roundly at ED. "Duh...hurr, hurr, hurrr--hims is know less about wimmins than ChrisChan!" But if you want to read them, they're at my blog (2/15/11-- "The Unwritten Rules of a Successful College Relationship"). Dating in college is just peculiar. It's comparable to a sexual Ponzi scheme--the men on campus outnumber the available women into the neighboring town maybe 2 to one, so there's a lot of competition, and you really have to make the cut. I guess I didn't. I really wonder how many couples successfully make the transition from "college" relationship to "real word" commitment. Damn few, I wager.
.
You really think everyone is out to get you? ... the fact that all of these people share common cause implies the fault lies with you, not them. One or two are outliers, more than that are statistics.
They why are the punishments so severe? You turn in a bad column, you get fired, kicked out of school, and none of your former coworkers are allowed to talk to you, ever again, in perpetuity. You talk about your feelings with a System girl, she drops out of your life for a month--a week, maybe ten days would be more than sufficient, I think. You make one mistake handling a customer, the boss freaks out and skips town, leaving the business to fall apart. I would consider these behaviors excessive. Yet no one says one bad word about the people who act like this.

If you really think that negative reviews are hurting your business... why don't you either try giving them a non-patronizing response for once and politely ask them what you could improve?
I tried that. I said "specific criticisms...issue, page, panel". They ignored that and kept yammering on about vagaries the colors and the speech bubbles , or spouting insults like "himses work sucks" and "him is not can draw" and "hims is bad because hims is not think like we is do".

I bet if I had asked you five years ago what your future will be like in five years, you would have said the same thing.
No, five years ago I had the shop, nearly ready to open for business, and my idiot brother was locked away in jail. My life was finally going great. And then things changed. One of my partners started talking smack about the other on some stupid Topix forum, dissolving the friendship and the business, then His Stupidness came back and picked up right where he left off. So, once again, I reiterate: change is bad. It just brings misery and wreck, who needs it?
