Interesting. What would someone like boogie use then? Would the doctors just tell him to eat ibuprofin like cereal?
This is my line of thought too. It's true that opioids wouldn't be as effective on a lardo, but they are by far the most effective line of defensive for chronic pain, bar none. Boogie most definitely suffers from chronic pain.
The BBC program showed his big basket of pills, in which controlled substances were conspicuously not mentioned. This is probably because BBC isn't going to air somebody's retinue of benzos, ambien, oxycodone, whatever.
I suspect boogie is on a ton of psychoactive pills already, but still finds food is his ultimate weapon of choice.
I might be wrong - there's a good amount of medical knowledge here. But it adds up in my book: Boogie is a roiling ball of anxiety, trauma, complaining, and chronic pain IRL. Any run-of-the-mill quack would throw down SSRIs and pain pills for the guy. Benzos are different as they might run the risk of heart failure during sleep... Not sure on that one, but he suffers acute anxiety supposedly, and again, benzos are by far the most effective short-term treatment for such disorders.
Anyway, I'm just speculating on the idea that he is a poly-drug addict with a massive eating disorder. If this is the case, he's going to be flipping his shit post-surgery, lashing out at everything. It's no wonder his wife is getting fed up with his bullshit already. It's no wonder he's already losing his cool.
The man needs a serious attempt at owning a shift in lifestyle after 40 years. It's either that, or owning the fact he's a fat bastard and will die fat, doing what he loves, eating 5k cals a day minimum to keep that body weight.
It takes work to stay that heavy!
Just an aside: but I think the new 'edgy' Boogie who uses 'cuck' unironically is pretty laughable. His angry inner turmoil is finally breaking through, and his nice guy persona is cracking at the seams. He basically put his wife on blast in front of thousands of people but hasn't yet even recognized that it's an absurd and rude thing to do to somebody you care about.
Edit: I should've made an edit pass. Fucked up some words.
